Not directly, but essentially, that was part of it.

That thread isn't silly. It's perfectly fine.

I don't mind the stars, but I don't really see the need to show how large your post-count is. It's not exactly a competition whereby anyone with more posts is better then someone else.

Just seems a bit self-promoting IMO, like the posting of topics in the JCC declaring "I have 10,000 posts" and such. Big deal, I passed that years ago, I don't make topics about it.

You can't ignore the fact that post count is a factor on an internet message board, and provided it doesn't become the be-all-and-end-all I don't see that providing a place to acknowledge post count is a bad thing. In the hands of the vast majority of people it's harmless fun. So what if it's a bit self-promoting - many things in life are. You may not make threads about hitting a certain number of posts, but you have the option too (which is important). Choosing not to certainly doesn't make you, or anyone who chooses not to, a more responsible (or some other inference of superiority) JCer.

I've yet to see anyone outright declare that they're better than somebody else because they have a much higher post count.

That all seems to stem from the people that are actually self-conscious enough about themselves to where something so trivial would actually bother them. And if something so minuscule does affect them that way, I shudder to think how they actually function in the real world.

I'm better than Juli because I have a higher post count. [face_talk_hand]

None of those options individually seemed to gather much support in MS.

If you can think of some new Star Wars themed rank system, feel free to post it here.

We should have an Everton-based star system.

First rung can be Sylvain Distin.

    I would support a Lakers-based star system.

Please, if it were up to you the stars would be replaced by a bunch of dorky Starfleet wessels.

I think that they should have something to do with Star Wars. Imperial rank symbols would be really cool.

    I voted...

I see no problem with keeping them. I don't think it should be much of an issue.

Now that the stars are a permanent feature, I DEMAND they be removed on a trial basis.

Comms admin, RJ? Too bad nothing goes on in here anymore. All that money out of your check for psychiatry sessions wasted.
