I'm not stressed. Every Star Wars movie has added fairly substantial characters in some form.

I'm merely making an observation. Discussing an actress' age as far as whether she can feasibly play Rey's mother is not equivalent to bringing up Rey Skywalker. Not everyone is assuming that Rey's mother, if cast, will be Luke's wife by default.

 

You'll have to define what you consider "big" here. Keri Russell, while not the biggest star, is still a notable actress. She wouldn't be cast for just a background role or cameo. I think a Mon Mothma length scene is the floor for her character, but likely she'll be in it more than that.

But don't get me wrong. I'm not opposed to it. I've already said I would like to see characterizations for KoR be explored. My initial hunch, though, is that while I would like it, I doubt KR is playing a KoR.

 

Jabba and Mon Mothma for RotJ. Grievous for RotS.

 

I hope she is Mara, and why can't she be Mara Jade without being Rey's mother? Why are these two things correlated?

Jabba was foreshadowed in ANH, which kind of goes with how I would like to see her play a KoR. Mon Mothma is a nothing part. If they cast KR for a part like that, I'll be surprised. Grievous is a pretty good example. I mean, not "good" as in "well done," but "good" as in "yeah, that happened."

 

She could be connected to the remnants of the old Empire somehow, like MJ was.

I don’t know why everyone is hoping she’s a villain. Look what they did with the female villain they already had. Not a good track record. Either way I’m looking forward to more salt from the idiots complaining about another women being added to the cast.

I'd honestly love for this. I've been complaining up a storm lately that Mara Jade's character outline is better than the character outline of every single new character the ST has given us. Such a waste. I think KR would make a pretty cool former Emperor assassin that uses the force.

 

In the ST I’d think. I think flashbacks will be used very judiciously; young Ben, etc.

 

I hope she's Mara Jade, she and Luke were married, they had a daughter, and when Kylo and the Knights of Ren burned down the Temple, something transpired which lead to Luke believing his wife and daughter were killed, but in fact, they were not and wound up in some other circumstances, separating them all for the last 15 years. This would explain why Luke was such a monumental jerk and ran off to die on an island. He was mourning the loss of his family. Why didn't he sense that Rey was his daughter? He had closed himself to the force? He thought she was dead and couldn't conceive she was alive? He did sense it, but he kept it from her? I don't know, but it can be rationalized. This simple, obvious solution would bring most of the story back to what most of us were expecting, but will have done it in a way no one saw coming. There's still hope.

 

A female Knight of Ren. Doubt there will be action heavy long flashbacks with MJ, and Keri (i guess) isn't here just for the flashback.

 

I’d imagine an action-heavy sequence wouldn’t be a flashback.

Wish there were more young women for Rey to pal around with...
