Yes. I made that statement last July...

Re: Feige, after the success of the Mandalorian and the success of the brilliant new directors of color that were brought into Lucasfilm, I can’t think of a less interesting person to give the next film to.

I mean Fiege tells pretty good stories I saw some people speculate it could be the world between worlds or maybe that’s Taikas film still where is my film about the first Jedi.

Again Feige is a producer not a director. We don’t know who is going to direct this film.

Honestly, give the thing to Ryan Coogler if Feige decides he wants to work with a director he's familiar with. At least we'll be all but assured a narratively, thematically, and visually interesting blockbuster.

Considering most of the Mandalorian directors including Favreau came to Disney from Feige, best to let him work.

That doesn’t make him a creative, though. I’ve seen no evidence of him being a good director, for example. While directors like Famuyiwa and Chow have beyond proven themselves, and are far more deserving of helming a feature film.

Who said Fiege was directing? He's a producer - directors come to him. He's shown he's known how to pick the right ones when you look at what he did with the MCU. That's where his creativity needs to be and the proof is there he knows how to find it.

Famuyiwa and Chow proven themselves in the SW world because of Favreau - Favreau is there because of Feige. They all working together. Famuyiwa is new to the Disney fold but Chow already been working in Feige's world with Iron Fist and Jessica Jones.

OK, but let’s not stretch the Feige fiction. Favreau is there, now, because of Kennedy, who hired him.

2018 - after failures of TLJ and Solo - Iger said it was all on him.

    https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/n...service-james-gunn-star-wars-slowdown-1145493

We know LFL has lied at times about what's going on but the truth always comes to light.

Iger said the decision to push out Solo so soon after TLJ was all on him, not anything else.

Where does he say that he’s the one who hired Favreau to make the Mandalorian?

    What lies?

Feige/Marvel Studios had no involvement whatsoever with Jeph Loeb/Marvel Television. And now that Feige/Marvel Studios are getting into episodic material via Disney+, Marvel Television has been killed. There is no connection (beyond very superficial, one way references) or overlap in production between what was going on with the Marvel Netflix shows and "Feige's world."

To take this any further it wouldn't fit in any thread so I'll probably stop here.

I'm surprised this is a different film to Taika's. I expect this film to be an adaption of something from Legends (Old Republic please) since that is what Kevin Feige specialises in doing.

It's kind of crazy how they're starting to write it now but it won't be out until December 2027.

Actually Daredevil will be Peter Parker's lawyer in Spider-Man 3 and it's rumoured he will be in She-Hulk.

Even if that is the case, that is all retroactive. Feige's hands weren't at play anywhere in the actual Daredevil show, or in any other Marvel show pre-Disney+.

I see that now. Thanks. Though in which case, I find it odd that he’s been tapped (and announced) to executive produce a Star Wars film. You’ve got Kennedy available for that. That’s the source of my confusion. Every other Star Wars film announcement, after all, has been about someone directing one. From Abrams through Jenkins. Why is this different? Why give Feige special treatment? Just don’t like this “promote the already massively successful white dude from within the company,” that doesn’t have any experience with Star Wars, to play a role that Kennedy is perfectly capable of playing.

If he is going to executive produce, I think they should’ve just quietly placed him in that role without fanfare. AFTER they announce the director.

He’s producing the film alongside Kennedy not in place of her. The reasons seem pretty clear. He’s a huge Star Wars fan and he’s been massively successful. Like John Knoll, like Favreau, it’s probably as simple as he had an idea that he brought to LFL which they liked.

It doesn't seem like such a big deal that he is just coproducing a movie. If he is writing the story, that's different, but I don't think that's confirmed.

Yeah. In which case, I don’t understand the point in making it a big deal. Checking on it, though, it seems Lucasfilm has never officially announced it. So all good if that’s the case. Wait until there’s a director, and then announce that.
Fair enough. Is it correct that Lucasfilm hasn’t yet announced it?

Sorry. I’ve been paying more attention to people trying to destroy democracy these days, and haven’t been as up on my Star Wars news as I should be.

They have. Not on the official site but both Iger and Kennedy gave quotes to THR when they ran the story stating that they were excited for the opportunity to collaborate. Honestly I would not at all be surprised to find out that this was Rogue Squadron. Rogue Squadron seems exactly like the kind of idea Feige would pitch. A property with existing material that they can build from, OT imagery, probably some returning characters, etc. And Patty Jenkins is exactly the kind of director I could see him wanting to work with. They almost did on Thor: The Dark World until interference from Perlmutter caused her to leave the project.

Kevin Feige and Kathleen Kennedy aren’t going to work together on anything, let alone a SW film. There’s not enough room in Burbank, San Francisco and London for the size of those two egos.

Except that, if Feige is producing a Star Wars film, he's doing so under Kathleen Kennedy. Every single Star Wars film under Disney has had additional producers. Hell, JJ brought his whole separate production company on board for his two. Ram Bergman (Rian Johnson's longtime producer) was on TLJ, etc.

Kathleen Kennedy oversees everything, the good and the bad, and Disney has done literally nothing to give anyone cause to think that that will be changing any time soon. If Kennedy wasn't producer, it wouldn't have the Lucasfilm logo.

That's like saying she's producing the multiple Favreau series which she isn't. She gets a credit. People get credits for projects they have absolutely nothing to do with in any meaningful creative way.

If Bob Iger asks Favreau to come in to do a TV series (maybe after he's made a pitch to him) then it's going to happen. Kennedy still has to be the one to officially ask. If Iger would have told her to use Lucas' treatments then she would have.

That's like those reports of JJ talking about how much he liked TLJ which was not evident in TROS.

In what alternate universe does Kennedy come across as having a huge ego?
