I apologize for the delay in posting, but here is my mini-essay:

As we have seen in the last two Star Wars films, the Knights of Ren are the mysterious followers of Kylo Ren, Vader's grandson. We don't know much about them, aside from the fact that they were once Jedi apprentices who decided to follow Kylo after his uncle's botched murder attempt. So, with all this in mind and much speculation, I argue that the Knights of Ren are a cult devoted to the worship of Darth Vader and are waiting for the day their leader, Kylo Ren, assumes the title of Darth and leads them into a glorious age of conquest and destruction.

The very fact they are few in number and masked leads me to believe they are modeled off of the mystery cults of Ancient Rome. As the Roman Empire expanded, they brought in new peoples and new gods, some of whom required secrecy-surrounded rituals known only to initiates. Unlike the austere Roman pantheon, many of these cults offered peace and acceptance from the "true god" or a messiah that would overthrow Rome. Christianity is a prime example of a mystery cult that was seen as a threat, and it eventually did overthrow the Roman religious system. In fact, both Jedi and Sith had prophesied the coming of a Messiah who would be their order's champion. Vader filled both roles, and Kylo is obsessed to achieve that same status.

Also, it seems the Knights of Ren can be considered a cult of personality. In the ideal setting, someone charismatic with strong psychological manipulation skills can attract weaker minded people to their side and easily manipulate them into doing their leader's bidding, no matter the cost. Because of this, they will see nothing wrong with committing mass suicide or attacking federal troops. They have allowed themselves to become puppets of strong-minded manipulators.

In conclusion, the Knights of Ren are a cult that is partially a mystery cult in the style of Ancient Rome and a cult of personality ala Jim Jones.

 

I like it. I can't help but wonder now how you-know-who fits into it all.
Did he have some sort of influence over the knights from the beginning? Were they told to work with Snoke under his orders? Or was Snoke perhaps a botched clone that took on its own personality?
Gigantism can be a symptom of a genetic disorder, after all.

What does it entail? Also is one liable to become a peony without remaining hugely active(commitments) without gaining an apprenticeship

 

That depends entirely on whether or not you are committed to becoming a Sith and working at it.

So in order to be a member of the thread one must be hugely active. I mean my aim is not to move up but simply just to be a part of the thread.

E.g any tasks dished out that I find time to do I can. This place holds fond memories from when I was active in 2016

 

Where’s the fun in that? I mean, we have a ton of good times, but what is it about not wanting to move up the ranks that displeases you?

It's not about moving up the ranks because your right that I'd t. I used to be an apprentice but had to leave because of studying. I get some time now but not much. I would have continued to move from apprentice but the reason why I'm not eager to get back on is because I tend to sometimes disappear. I know that wastes their time so I just thought I could remain here as an observer.
