That's it, up there, since Ching isn't doing the interiors.

    That's a cover?

But the HK-24 idiot in Days of Fear was so funny all is forgiven.

I actually find it a refreshing break from the sturm und drang of every single other comic cover ever made. :p

If you could helpfully decrypt Sturm and Drang I shall understand. You're saying you don't like fancy covers?

Oh, I like them, but I don't mind when one that's not so...melodramatic comes along. It's a dude getting pinned by a droid. There's nothing "cool" or artistically pleasing about it in the slightest, so for some reason I end up liking it.

Ah, you don't like melodramatic covers. I've never seen them as emotive. The early Legacy issues were mug shots. Simple affairs portraying the host of new faces you have to know. Then things became artistic.

B-but...but neither one of them is looking straight at the "camera"! Unlike the koala.

I'm rather fond of the cymbal-wielding penguin astride a polar bear picture, myself. :p

Interesting cover, to be sure. Reminds me a bit of one of the quests in Mass Effect. Stupid freighter was all sorts of annoying. In any case, the issue here looks interesting. JJM is doing a really good job of writing these follow-up stories in such a way that it doesn't give anything away in the solicits.

Point of interest that seems to suggest to me that Zayne may indeed still be on the path of a Jedi, even officially:
Emphasis mine. Who are they investigating for? Who told them about said ship? Etc. Could be just a natural follow-up to the previous issue, but we'll find out.

But Polar bears live at the north pole and penguins live in the south pole!

The cymbals are fine. They probably stole them from an army base or some eskimos.

Just checked the artists page. Very nice sketches, although Zayne looks a little too old.

not old, just a bit pale, for some reason. also there's something a bit odd with the way ching drew zayne's lips.

I think A_A was referring to this, not the cover. Zayne does seem older and more "rugged" there, probably because of the facial hair. I don't mind it, though.

Holy cow. I just found out that Mr. Zachary lives in my home town and attends our local Con every year. And that he worked with one of my Fan Force members on his "Stargods." Small world. :)

Dean Zachary's art is really good! Very detailed and realistic.

What makes him older in that picture seems only be his expression and the growth of facial hair, which actually isn't unrealistic for a 19 year old - depends on the person but many can grow almost fully developed beards at 16. I really like his new clothing, makes me wonder what he's up to... who he's working for.

So can I start crackpot theories based on Zayne having Kyp Durron's haircut and resembling him somewhat here? [face_devil]

Y'know, it'd be funny if he looks so much older because there's a time jump. :p

Isn't it obvious? He's come to finish the Destroyer of Worlds Prophecy, obviously. Durron is Darth Nihilus.

if he cross classed to guardian it would be..... i don't know, not surprising and surprising at the same time.
Zayne's improved his fighting skills a lot on his travels on the last resort, and his connection to the force has gotten stronger as well.
He might have done better as a sentinal, but perhaps his old yellow saber got destroyed somehow and he had to build a new one.
    This could go many ways

Dean Zachary has posted a couple of pages from #38 on his website. He mentioned that he used a young Christian Bale as his reference for Zayne.

    Page 1

    Page 2

I love what I see so far. I can't wait to see the formal preview, and I'm looking forward to meeting him next month.

What in the name of the force did Zayne do to that ship? It looks like something from battlebots!

    I approve!
