MidWest L(A)RP - Anyone done this?

I was checking out the website for this year's Dragoncon, and although I am not into gaming a whole lot myself, I was seeing what types of games they'll be hosting, hoping to find something to help me convince my husband to attend the con with me. So, on their gaming site, I read about LARP, Live Action Role Playing games. Dragoncon will be hosting one that is in the SW universe.

Now, I must confess that, had there not been a SW LARP planned, I probably would not have looked into this any further. But, there was, and I did. I had never heard of LARP before, but I surfed up a bunch of stuff on it, and it sounds VERY cool.

I was wondering, has anyone participated in any of these? I'd like to hear some personal opinions/reviews of this.

 

I've been to and hosted a couple of Murder Mystery dinners if that's what you're talking about. Nothing related to Star Wars in anyway, but it could be easy to tweak an existing one into it.
