Saying this now in case it becomes relevant later: if it turns out that the Lando movie doesn’t happen, it will not mean that that article was about anything other than the Lando series, and it will not make 2Cleva right. Him saying “I told you guys” won’t change that.

 

Well 2Clevas thing is that he is waiting for the moment all all these early set projects are canceled so he can say ah see things are shifting in lucasfilm because Filoni is taking control.

Well Glover seems to be next in line for some musical work and then Community movie so Lando flick is probably #3 on his to do list.

 

Donald Glover just mentioned his Lando movie and said he wants his movie to be fun.

I'm glad that Glover is talking about the Lando film, as it gives me some confidence that it's still gonna be made. Outside of DotJ this is my most anticipated film; Glover played the character masterfully in "Solo" and I'd love to see him center stage.

I love that he seems to get the character. Kinda like the way BDW described him in "Empire of Dreams" as a dual character that you're not too sure of. I thought they did a semi-good job of portraying him in "Rebels," and wanna see more of that Lando in the film; the kinda guy Han described in ESB just before they went to Bespin. That "scoundrel" phase of his character anyway, before he became committed to the rebel cause and became a leader and hero.

 

I maintain that if they keep this in a lower budget range, like $75M - $100M, and go for a practical effects-driven, sexy, "groovy" visual aesthetic that's closer to like 1960s French sci-fi with a bit of Danger: Diabolik thrown in, this could be very cool, very profitable with minimal financial risk, and very unique.

 

That's a pitch right there.

Or, they can appeal to the younger generations and canonically change Lando's last name to Calrizzian.

 

I actually think they should subvert expectations by revealing that Lando only wears capes due to some childhood trauma (caused by a character we've already met in another movie who previously had no connection to Lando), and that in truth, he hates capes.

 

You're not considering that expectations must be subverted here. Lando needs to hate capes, or the whole thing just becomes predictable and boring.

 

He wears capes because of that time when he was a kid, when he was in a cave and he got attacked by a whole flock of capes.

I think we need to learn more about Lando and his relationship with droids.

 

Actually I think the movie gave us enough info about that.

 

Lando on his heels the whole time seems like a good vibe for the flick. Glover needs to go full fun and funny for a new project.
