Star Wars Licence to Clone (Star Wars...007 Style)

IC: Lieutenant Ewlla Iillor, Enemy Base
Location: Nadiem

The Twi'lek's body arced, then collapsed, his sunglasses skittering across the cave floor to rest beside Face-Off's boot, after Nifesta's head cracked onto the ground, arms stretched out and still holding the smoking energy rifle.

Low to the floor, Ewlla tracked Killifer with her blaster as he moved, and her first instinct was to grab him round the throat, jam the pistol into his scrawny neck, and demand Sharkey's whereabouts, but as he sprinted into the circle of clones, she abandoned that idea, and instead turned her attention to the doors through which he had come.

With the others thus pre-occupied, the Judicial Forces officer rose and slowly approached the doors, weapon suspended by her side as she continued examining the grey durasteel portal, to see if it would open automatically at her approach, or if there was a visible control unit to operate them.

She ignored the unconscious twi'lek, the clones, the agents, and their remorseful-sounding host.

Pretty darn late to be acting remorseful, pal; she thought as she examined the vertical black crack where the left door met the right, you started this.

IC:Antares Reldin
Location: Nadiem Batcave

Antares rose from the ground, his blaster carbine in hand. He flicked the switch from full power to stun and moved back towards the door. While he didn't approve of shooting the clone, he would defend the rest of his team.

Ewlla moved back towards the heavy door that had closed behind them and Antares, without taking his eyes off the clones, hit three commands on his wrist pad.

Behind him the IG units on the lift activated.

IC: Teras Maldern and Selena Aryston


Back on the ground, the two new arrivals entered the cave and made their way down the slope. From within the darkness of the cave's interior, two IG-86 assassin droids appeared out of the shadows.

The droids spoke with a monotone robotic voice. "Your friends have already arrived," one of them said.

"We have orders to take you to them," the other added.

"Please come with us," the first one spoke again.

Selena would have been pale with fear three years ago but not now. She knew that the IG-86s were built by the CIS. They were plain nasty. She looked at the Mandalorian who shrugged.

Having no other choice, the two agents followed their ?escort.? After getting on a lift. They went down and entered a room with an unconscious twi'lek, clones, the agents or what they assume to be the agents, and a thin human. All in a stand-off.

?We missed a good fight didn?t we?? said Teras in a disappointed tone.

Selena rolled her eyes.

The assassin droids put their guns to their heads. ?Drop your weapons. Or your friends die.?

OOC: Ewlla moved back towards the heavy door that had closed behind them

Ewlla is at the door that Killifer came in through, not the one that we came through. She is at the far end of the durasteel-walled cavern.

The officer ran her forefinger down the vertical line where the two metal blastdoors met, and rapped her knuckles experimentally against one to test the thickness.

Behind her, she heard the sound of a synthesized voice declaring, "[color=#343434][i][b]Drop your weapons. Or your friends die.[/b][/i][/color]"

That was new enough that she turned around, spying a pair of new arrivals at the far end with the clones. A male and female pair.

"[color=royalblue]Don't listen to them,[/color]" she called back to them, "[color=royalblue]apparently we are not going to be harmed. In fact, you want to do something useful, get that skinny drokker to tell you where Jedi General Starkey is.[/color]" She turned her attention back to the door, and continued under her breath, "[color=royalblue]And if he refuses to talk, tell him I'll blow his kneecaps off.[/color]"

IC: Killifer
Location: underground base

"Alright, everyone stop," Killifer said standing up again. "As I said before, I don't kill people. That's why the clones were ordered to stun."

He began to walk to the door Ewlla was trying to get through. "If you will all follow me, I'll take you to see your Jedi friend. But, please, no more violence."

Yup, they were definitely MI5, Killifer deduced.

The thin man turned back around as the doors slid open. "Bring them too," he said, pointing at the bodies on the floor.

The clone called Wrister knelt down and hoisted Face-off's lifeless body over his shoulder. The clone called Shortside tried lifting the stunned twi'lek. He couldn't do it. "Man, this guy's heavy." He waved for Toe Drag to come and help him.

With simultaneous grunts, the two clones managed to lift him, one had a grip under Nifesta's arms and the other had his legs.

Killifer walked through the door and proceeded down a durasteel corridor.

IC: Antares Reldin
Location: Nadiem Batcave

Antares stood across the room from Ewlla, if things escalated again they would be able to catch Killifer's men in a crossfire. Antares, with his blaster carbine raised, was about to use his wristpad to hack the security droids when the door behind him opened. He spun and took several steps away as the door opened. Two more agents apparently, followed by more security droids. This was not getting any better.

"Alright, everyone stop," Killifer said standing up again. "As I said before, I don't kill people. That's why the clones were ordered to stun."

He began to walk to the door Ewlla was trying to get through. "If you will all follow me, I'll take you to see your Jedi friend. But, please, no more violence."

The thin man turned back around as the doors slid open. "Bring them too," he said, pointing at the bodies on the floor.

Antares turned to Killifer and followed him. Enough blood had been shed today and if he had wanted the agents dead, they would be dead already.

Lieutenant Ewlla Iillor

Unable to get through the imposing doors herself, the Judicial Forces lieutenant stood aside as Killifer joined her, and the twin portals began to slide apart, revealing a durasteel-lined corridor. "If you will all follow me, I'll take you to see your Jedi friend. But, please, no more violence."

Ewlla ignored him. There was no point asking him anything, the man was more evasive than a Dia'noga-class starfighter.
Instead she waited for the Face-Off-carrying clone that she knew as Wrister to pull alongside, and fell into step with him.

"Why, Wrister?" She asked, assuming he would know he was being asked his reason for betraying the Galactic Republic.

IC: Killifer, Shasta, Rax, Rex, Wrister and the clones
Location: underground compound

As the group strolled down the corridor behind Killifer, the Lieutenant asked, "Why, Wrister?"

Judging by where she put the emphasis in that short sentence, Wrister figured she wasn't asking about his name, but rather why they were doing this.

Wrister shifted Face-off's body a bit to get a better grip. Without turning his head, the clone answered, "I know what you're asking. And first of all, I should tell you..." He glanced over in her direction. "We were never property of the Republic."

Just as he said that, the next set of doors slid open and they started to step into the next room. It was an enclosed walkway that ran along a large cavern a few hundred yards wide. On the other side of the glass walkway, the cavern housed three disc-shaped cloning chambers...something one might see in a cloning facility on Kamino.

Rax Chopchura was in awe and unable to speak.

"Holy Sithspit," was Shasta's only reaction.

Rex Heaven was the first to form a complete sentence. "So, I'm guessing the Republic has no knowledge of this."

Wrister shifted Face-off's body a bit to get a better grip. Without turning his head, the clone answered, "I know what you're asking. And first of all, I should tell you..." He glanced over in her direction. "We were never property of the Republic."

Ewlla looked sharply at the clone, her distorted face reflected in his curved visor. She could see her own shock.

Before she could enquire further, the next set of doors slid open and they started to step into the next room. It was an enclosed walkway that ran along a large cavern a few hundred yards wide. On the other side of the glass walkway, the cavern housed three disc-shaped cloning chambers...

The sight took her back! Though nothing to do with clones she and Nifesta had come across something architecturally similar under Tatooine.

?Holy Sith.? She breathed, vaguely aware of a round of similar reactions among the gathered agents.

Rex Heaven observed, ?So, I'm guessing the Republic has no knowledge of this.?

?If they did, they didn?t tell us.? Ewlla frowned and turned to Wrister, regarding his revelation ?Hold on, if you and your friends are not Republic troopers, does that mean that Sharkey?s real squad has been here all along?? She refused to consider the idea that any of the clones in the war were anyone?s property.

As Antares entered the cloning chamber his eyes nearly bugged out of his head. In his years he had seen an awful lot, traveled a lot of back roads most people didn't even know existed. He knew their were cloners out there...good ones like the Kaminoans and not so good ones...but nowhere did he expect to see a set up this elaborate off of Kamino.

"Who pays for this?" Antares turned to Kilifer.

Location: underground cavern - Nadiem

"Hold on, if you and your friends are not Republic troopers, does that mean that Sharkey?s real squad has been here all along?" Ewlla asked.

But before anyone could answer, Reldin added, "Who pays for this?"

"For the time being, the Republic does," a soft-spoken voice came from further down the glass walkway.

Shasta turned to see a male Kaminoan slowly strolling toward them.

"And you are correct, sir," the Kaminoan added. "The Republic doesn't know it. At least...not yet."

Killifer waved a hand toward the long-necked being. "Ah! This is Kino Su, our very own cloner from Kamino. He heads the cloning operation here on Nadiem." He looked back at the agents. "And to answer your first question, these nine clones are Sharkey's squad. You see, they were our first clones created here in this facility. Face-off being the first one." He glanced slowly toward the limp body over Wrister's shoulder. "They were a first test-run, to see if we could successfully insert them into the Republic's Grand Army without anyone noticing. And, believe it or not, it worked."

The revelations were coming thick and fast!

Ewlla began to experience a scared hollow feeling in the pit of her stomach, her mind in turmoil as she looked up at the willowy Kaminoan male.

Judicial Forces, not to mention the Grand Army, worked extensively with jedi, and the first thing they pounded into new recruits, after showing them the safety exits, the male/femme/and-whatever-the-frag-you-are freshers, and the vending machine, was that jedi could smell a lie at fifty metres.

She looked round at Wrister, Toe Drag....if all that was true, why hadn't Sharkey rumbled them long before they had gone all Lassie, and taken him back to a cave they had found earlier.

"Sharkey one of you, wasn't he?" She turned to Killifer. "Not a clone, but like, Count Dooku. Working against the Republic."

Antares absently stroked his tail. The implications of what was being said were enormous. Least of all, Nifesta had just shot the clone trooper belonging to a Jedi. Worst of the consequences, they were dealing with a rogue Jedi, which changed the parameters of the mission completely. With Nifesta still out, he could say he trusted the team. He stood by Ewlla, trusting her to get them out alive if they were indeed dealing with a rogue Jedi.

Location: cloning facility - Nadiem

"Sharkey one of you, wasn't he?" Ewlla said, turned to Killifer. "Not a clone, but like, Count Dooku. Working against the Republic."

"Well," Killifer started, "yes and no."

"What the frag does that mean?" Shasta asked.

Killifer continued, "We have a method of...brainwashing. Your friend Sharkey is still the sweet, happy, innocent Jedi everyone thinks he is. We just made him think he was working for us. That made the process of getting the clones in the Grand Army much easier." He began to turn and head down the glass walkway, toward another set of sliding doors. "Come. I'll take you to see Sharkey."

As Killifer walked, Rex Heaven leaned in toward the Pantoran agent Rax Chopchura and said, "I guess all villains need to monologue their evil plans to satisfy their ego, eh?"

"This guy seems so friendly and upbeat. It's hard to believe he's involved in all this," Rax responded.

"Gentlemen," Shasta interrupted. "You rookies have a lot to learn." With her 20 years experience as an MI5 agent, combined with her years before that as an assassin-for-hire, Shasta has seen and experienced many things. She feared there was more to Killifer than meets the eye.

This was their chance to gather as much information as Killifer was willing to give. If they got out of there alive, they could use it against him and put a stop to his little cloning operation.

Shasta's train of thought was interrupted when she felt a blaster being shoved into her back. "Keep moving," one of the clones said. "Sharkey is waiting."

IC: Ewlla, Mitch

The lieutenant was relieved to hear that Sharkey was not an intentional betrayer of the Republic, but she started to have a nasty suspicious feeling as to why they had been brought here; surely their operation would have been more secure without bring MI5 agents to the lair.

It wasn?t like the Grand Army would have stumbled across the cave by themselves.

Hadn?t the other jedi questioned the clones too? Why hadn?t they sensed the subterfuge?


Suspended between two troopers, Mitch kept his eyes closed and his ears and...senses open as he slowly regained consciousness.

He could sense the plethora of life, albeit embroyonic, around, above, and below him.


Looking across to Killifer, Ewlla asked, ?So, how do you power this operation??

Location: Killifer's cloning facility - deep underground - Nadiem

"So, how do you power this operation?" Ewlla asked.

Killifer looked back at her. "We have a massive power core even deeper underground." He pointed down, indicating the ground beneath them.

"So you're not part of the Republic," Shasta reiterated. "Are you working with the Separatists?"

"No, my dear," Killifer responded, glancing back at the MI5 veteran. "We are not associated with either side."

So there was a whole separate party trying to get involved in the War? Why in Feth's name would anyone want to do that?

The next set of doors Killifer passed slid open revealing another durasteel room. This one had a few human technicians sitting at computer consoles. And along the opposite wall, there was a row of large rectangular crates that looked almost like coffins. Each one had a metal base and the lids were a translucent glass. Attached to each base was a keypad and a series of different colored light.

All the technicians turned to look at the unexpected visitors. Killifer waved a hand toward the row of rectangular 'coffins'. "These, my friends, are stasis chambers. They are able to hold a living being in suspended animation for years while preserving the body over time. My associates had a feeling they may come in handy with what we were doing." He strolled up to the first coffin in the row and leaned over it, looking through the translucent glass lid. "I guess Sharkey's connection to the Force was fighting back against the brain-washing. There was no way I was willing to kill him. So we had to deal with him a different way."

While all the other suspended animation devices were empty, the one Killifer was leaning over was currently in use. The former customs officer looked down into the glass to see Sharkey's rather chubby face, calm and peaceful, frozen in time.

IC: Lieutenant Ewlla Iillor, Agent Mitch Nifesta


Another set of doors slid aside at the far end of the metal and plexiglased enclosed walkway, and the lieutenant trailed Killifer into another durasteel-lined room.

So, they had a massive power core, deep underground, did they? Presumably the fleet would have scanned for such things as soon as they broke hyperspace above the planet. If she could get a signal out...Hello, what have we here?

She noted the human technicians seated at computer consoles, and the row of rectangular, glass-fronted...coffins, against the opposite wall.

Ewlla jogged ahead of Antares and the group to lean over and look into the one that held a familiar looking occupant, her blaster making a double clack on the transparent lid as she rested it beside her own crossed forearms.

?General Starkey,? she sighed, her breath fogging the lid under her mouth. The jedi master looked peaceful.

For the benefit of her companions, Killifer waved a hand toward the row of rectangular 'coffins'. "These, my friends, are stasis chambers. They are able to hold a living being in suspended animation for years while preserving the body over time. My associates had a feeling they may come in handy with what we were doing." He strolled up to Ewlla?s coffin and leaned over it from the opposite side, looking through the translucent glass lid. "I guess Sharkey's connection to the Force was fighting back against the brain-washing. There was no way I was willing to kill him. So we had to deal with him a different way."

She raised her gaze from the sight and looked across to Killifer. ?You will release him. Release him now.?

The Corellian woman?s face twitched slightly as she tried to hide her reaction to something.
She had just heard a telepathic command from the twi?lek: Just a suggestion; do not stand between the clones and those computer consoles.

Limply relaxed between the clones carrying him, Mitch shifted his attentions to, to, Toe Drag, and tried to influence the trooper?s mind.

He could ?see? the armoured being through the Force, even with his own eyes closed, and he was seeking a deliberated clue that he had control ? he tried to make Toe Drag open and close his left fist three times.

Once would be an instance.
Twice would be coincidence.
But three, three would be successful intervention.

Mitch concentrated on the clone.

Ewlla stared across at Killifer. ?Just so we are clear, Killifer. That was not a suggestion.?

IC: Antares Reldin

Antares grinned. Finally, they had found General Sharkey. He moved to the otherside of Killifer, sandwhiching him between himself and Ewlla, staying out of her firing arc. He gripped his DC-15a raising it slightly with one hand. With the other he was keying commands into his datapad, seeing if he could hack into the computers that would presumably free Sharkey if Killifer proved unhelpful.

 

IC: Finn Killifer, Shasta Moonreaper, Rax Chopchura, Rex Heaven, Kino Su, the eight remaining clones, the technicians, a frozen-in-time Sharkey...is that everyone?
Location: stasis chambers - Killifer's facility

"You will release him. Release him now." the Lieutenant ordered.

"Unfortunately," Killifer started, "that's something I cannot do."

On the other side of the room, the weak-minded clone called Toe Drag was opening and closing his hand a few times, which no one happened to notice.

Ewlla stared across at Killifer. "Just so we are clear, Killifer. That was not a suggestion."

Killifer could feel the tension in the room building as Agent Reldin moved closer to him. Shasta could see both Reldin and Ewlla were about to attack. She gave Rax and Rex a quick glance and they knew immediately to be prepared for what was about to happen.

The clones could see the situation developing too. Well, maybe not Toe Drag, but the others could.

Killifer cautiously continued to talk, confident the clones would settle any trouble that loomed. "Ever since you...investigators...showed up at the barracks in Windsor questioning Sharkey's disappearance, we knew you would be trouble. So I had the clones bring you here. And I was given orders to put you all in these stasis chambers."

The clones (the one's with free hands) aimed their blasters at the agents, each clone picking a different target, blasters set for stun.

"As I told you when you arrived," Killifer added, "you will not be harmed."

OOC: Hey, I just remembered... Did we accidentally leave the Last Bolt and the med-droid behind?

 

OOC: I actually realised a while back, when the Eyeballs called down about the two new agents, that the Last Bolt was back at Windsor Barracks. But yeah, the med droid, I forgot about him too.

 

IC: Antares Reldin
Location: Nadiem

Antares was aware of the clone trooper behind him, he heard the telltale scraping of plastoid composite armor as the trooper raised his weapon, the *click* as his weapon was set to stun. That was all Antares needed to know. He didn't want to resort to violence but this was the second time a blaster was being pointed at him and it was time to do something about it.

The other troopers were on the opposite side of Ewlla and Kilifer, Antares spun, slamming his tail into Kilifer's legs, just behind the knee, hopefully knocking him to the ground. They didn't need him catching a stray blaster bolt, he would questioned...aggressively, later on. As Antares spun he dropped the Ryn act and shifted into a mynock, hoping the quick size change and the spin would throw off the clone behind him. Antares had barely finished the mynock shift before shifting into a massive Togorian. He finished shifting as he finished his spin, putting him next to the clone trooper. He lashed out with a massive arm, hoping to slam the trooper into the wall behind him.

OOC: Ahhh. So it begins.



IC: Killifer, Shasta, Rax, Rex, Kino Su, the clones, the techies, the med-droid, the IG-86 droids, and Sharkey
Location: "stasis" room - Killifer's cloning facility - Nadiem

Reldin spun so quickly that neither Killifer nor the clone (Five-hole) could react fast enough. Killifer felt the whip on the back of his legs and fell to the durasteel floor. Five-hole was about to pull the trigger when the MI5 agent suddenly...disappeared. Then he noticed a mynock. A mynock? "What in the name of--" Before he could even finish his sentence, there appeared a rather large, two-legged animal-like creature who slammed him into the wall.

Amongst the confusion, the other clones were distracted with the magic tricks as well...as were Shasta Moonreaper, Rax Chopchura and Rex Heaven. It all happened so fast. And when Five-hole was slammed into the wall, Shasta leaped toward Rax, snatching the blaster from him, and firing at the nearest clone, Goon. As the clone was hit in the chest, the force of the blaster bolt threw him backward. His trigger finger inadvertently fired the blaster he was holding as he went down. The stun bolt flew toward Rex Heaven.

"Oh s--" Rex was cut off when he was hit. His stunned body fell to the floor.

As soon as Shasta took his weapon, Rax Chopchura dropped to the floor and kicked at the clone (Hat Trick) in front of him, knocking him off-balance.

OOC: I didn't realize how confusing it could get with so many characters in such a small space. To help with your posting, here is what the eight remaining clones are doing:

Five-hole just got slammed against the wall near Sharkey's stasis chamber.
Goon was killed and is now laying on the floor with a blaster bolt through his chest.
Hat Trick is near the door, standing in front of Rax, and is a bit off-balance.
Wrister is carrying Face-off's dead body.
Shortside and Toe Drag are carrying Nifesta.
Grinder and Blade have not yet been mentioned. Feel free to place them where ever you want them in your post.

 

IC: Mitch Nifesta, Ewlla Iillor


A bright plasma bolt erupted from Toe Drag?s raised DC-15 and smashed into the nearest control console, causing the nearest scientist to jerk his knee away from the flaming hole!

Under the twi?lek?s discreet direction, the clone fired several more shots, always targeting anything that looked like it could operate the stasis chambers; no agent was being put in them this day...unless Killifer had a another room of them to trot out after the clone?s weapon ran dry.

He?d need a lot of rooms.

Ewlla stepped over the former Customs agent, and moved round the end of Starkey?s coffin, squatting to stab at the keypad with a fingernail, trying to find the winning combination to free the jedi.

?Well, it?s not 1-2-3-4-5!? She called to anyone who cared.

Agent Nifesta considered breaking free of the troops holding him, but that was a card he didn?t want to expend just yet, so he remained as relaxed as he could, risking diverting some control from Toe Drag, to Force Toss Blade into the far wall.

He couldn?t have explained, even to himself, why he chose that trooper, but as a Force Vampire, it just felt right.

Location: Cloning Chamber, Nadiem

Antares dashed behind one of the empty cloning tubes meant for them. Grinder, who had been on the otherside of Ewlla and Kilifer, was raising his blaster rifle, aiming for Ewlla. Antares shifted again, back into his Ryn form and quickly squeezed off a trio of blasts from his carbine, aiming for Grinder?s chest.

He heard Ewlla shout something about the combination to the cloning tube.
?Ewlla, find cover, I can get that open.? Reldin called.

The Judicial Forces lieutenant scowled as Uncle Mitch made a telepathic suggestion regarding Starkey's coffin code:
Try The Quick Brown Vornsk Jumps over the lazy dog.

"It's only a numeric keypad!" She hissed back, the sound of blaster bolts whanging around the chamber keeping her low.

"Ewlla, find cover, I can get that open."

She heard the call from one of the newer agents, and ducked round the other side of the coffin to where Killifer lay, and keeping low, crawled to the head of the container. She had her own blaster out, looking for someone to shoot.
