As a new year has started we will begin a new thread for our birthday announcements. As with the past threads, only those who have notified a mod with their date of birth will be included. This is done in respect to those who prefer their privacy.

Some musically oriented happening of the day are: 1900 - Giuseppe Verdi's "Aida" was performed in New York. 1940 - The "Southland Shuffle" was recorded on Bluebird Records by Charlie Barnet and his Orchestra. Billy May was featured as a trumpet player. 1957 - Fats Domino recorded "I'm Walkin'." 1970 - Davy Jones announced he was leaving the Monkees. 1987 - Aretha Franklin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with Bill Haley and 14 others. Franklin was the first woman to be inducted.
