Speculation Likeliness of film about getting plans for second Death Star

What do you guys think the chances of us ever seeing "Rogue Two: Many Bothans" is?

Would love to hear everyone's speculation on this.

Also, I looked in a few of the boards and this one to see if this topic was brought up, couldn't find. Merge away if the thread exists!

I was really surprised they didn't leave that possibility open.

Even if you didn't have everyone make it out. Seemed like a no brainier to at least have one or two make it out for that movie if nothing else.

 

Have Bothans been on screen, yet? Even in the cartoons?

 

Considering all the rehashed elements in Star Wars films, it's not that unlikely. I would give it a long time though.

 

I was surprised too. Surprised that a corporate franchise would make such a creatively bold and satisfying decision. In this context, I have enormous respect for both Kennedy and Iger. The movie business needs more people like them.

 

Too derivative. Even for SW.

 

Maybe someday.

Nope. Canon wise we have this

And that is it. Even in the old eu we rarely saw them in games or shows. I can think of some comics here and there but almost never in motion as far as I can tell. Battlefront lets you play as one though and they are in TOR.

 

I think this story will eventually be told, but in the form of a novel. Also, I'm pretty certain we'll see Bothans on screen eventually.

 

I'm Hope so, would be more of a Spy film less of a war film could be good. would also make an awesome assains creed type game.

 

I'm surprised we haven't seen them in TCW or Rebels.

 

It wouldn't be as interesting seeming as the Empire let the Bothans steal the plans

 

Yup... "man, look at all these Bothans who sacrificed themselves so that - wait, what, they let them get the plans?!"

Also, some people already complain about ROTJ using a second DS, so LFL might not want to base another Anthology movie on a similar "Death Star plans" theme.

 

The Death Star has been milked for everything that it is worth. We need something fresh and new. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Death Star has been in Episode 2 (you see the schematic of it on Geonosis), Episode 3 (one of the last scenes), Episode 4-6, and Rogue One.

Right. SKB was more of a stationary, more powerful Death Star.

 

Perhaps they could do this as a game, where you play as one of the Bothan spies tying to put the pieces together? That could work.
