Hiya all, haven't been here in a while, since the Great Canon Reset, I believe. I have been looking around for good Star Wars fan stuff, and was hoping to find a good podcast. However, I'm much more in to the books than the films, and obviously most podcasts seem to be for the latter. Would anyone here happen to have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
I recommend Tapcaft Tranmission. A Star Wars Book Club that has for the most part gone over Legends material PLaylist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-FI_xShOJy1EH140iTqFk8xxPpcjwuhJ
Don't listen to tapcaft. They aren't a good source to get a feel for the stories they talk about. I don't know any good ones, but DON'T listen to tapcaft. Unless you think saying "Luke is a loser incel" is the height of comedy or are only really into the military side of Star Wars and not into the mystical force side. They aren't that interesting and their 'talks' get very repetitive. I mean they literally say it would have been better if the EU never formed as a whole, so yeah. Cannot recommend.
I'm not big on podcasts but I've listened to Rogue Podron a few times and didn't have a problem with it (unlike most podcasts which I find extremely annoying).
Rogue Podron is great, and despite their name they've covered a fair number of non-Rogue books over the years. They're cool people too, but don't tell them I said that.
Well the main one, Jedi Journals, just closed down. Star Wars Bookworms is fun, but their release schedule is a little mixed.
@JechtShotMK9 We are two episodes in but I make a Book Podcast called Eye on Canon: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChJ0bRf0M7lcfToP69VAqOg
I've been listening recently to Father and Son: A Star Wars Podcast, which is the most wholesome, positive podcast I've run into in a good long while. It's well-nigh impossible to listen to Kerwin and Keith share their love of Star Wars and remain a cynic. They get it.
I mean i'm all for being critical but if people start becoming cynical of Star Wars then i think it's time to call it quits.
I honestly have a difficult time listening to podcasts unless the people involved have a lot of experience in public speaking. Talking to an audience live without attempting to edit things takes a lot of experience that many that try don't have.
In solely my own opinion, I don't think even being critical is the best way to approach Star Wars content. But yeah, once you've grown altogether cynical - when it's more about being angry or upset all the time than having fun - I agree that it may be time to reassess your relationship to the franchise.
@Jid123Sheeve Do you have or plan to have an audio-only version somewhere? I find YouTube to be a very inconvenient way to listen to podcasts.
There is a good Tosche Station podcast called the Thrawncast, later more well known as the Vongcast, which covers the Thrawn trilogy, Truce at Bakura, the New Jedi Order series in its entirety, Mercy Kill, Rogue Planet, and the Invasion comics. Basically, they more or less cover material that ties into NJO. You can listen to them all here.
