Saga Saga - OT Long Live the Queen--AU Leia Drabbles of her time on the thro

Author's Note: This is from the 9th drabble challenge because I needed the inspiration. All of these are going to be in the universe of Sins of the Father and its sequels. What you need to know at this time is that Bail Organa was the one captured by Vader about Rebel activity, Leia took the throne in his absence, and the Empire invaded Alderaan as a coronation present as protection against the Rebel Alliance. This will have drabbles about the people affected by this AU as well, hence Mon Mothma being included in this first set.


Week I


1. Adamant


The Empire had a presence on Alderaan, but the Queen would not let them have sway. She could not prevent the presence of stormtroopers on the streets of Aldera, but she mandated that the people of each community, from village to capital, defer to their homeworld’s constabulary force so the unholy might of Palpatine would not be the next recourse. Lord Tion was granted the occasional audience, but held no rank within the court. Her father had died for the Rebellion, but it was the duty of Leia, Queen of Alderaan, to reign in disagreement while denying the Empire power.


2. Abide


With an Imperial garrison mere kilometers from the throne room, there were many rumors that the Imperial forces would make themselves at home in more secluded areas. THere were millions of Alderaanians who had been born on this world, but thousands who had fled there from one danger or another. Some of the refugees who had helped in early resistance against the Empire had died years ago, but those who still lived in exile on Alderaan worried about what new sins they would be held accountable for. Alderaan’s haven was said to have died with its last loyalist Republic senator.


3. Afield


There were none in the Imperial Starfleet who dared question Vader’s tactics. Those who found sometimes-temporary favor with him could offer counsel, but argument was frequently futile and often fatal. Rather than doubt the need to attack a civilian convoy, his starship captains learned to see the potential enemies to be quashed when they encountered an unknown quantity. Some found ways to leave his service over moral objections; others set their principles aside because Vader understood this war better than any other commander. The great, ignored, mystery was why Vader insisted on leaving the rumored Rebel stronghold of Alderaan alone.


4. Aghast


Mon Mothma was devastated by the simple text message that reported the death of Bail Organa. All of those who had signed the Corellian Treaty had known they might meet an end in an Imperial prison cell, but she could not discover the full details. The accounting of the Viceroy’s last hours was a secret that had died with both Bail and the intelligence team that had failed horrifically to rescue him. Bel Iblis had offered Rebel aid to Bail’s frightened daughter, but she wished to honor her friend’s contribution to the Alliance herself. The Empire paid its respects first.


5. Aforetime


Alderaan had been part of the Republic since its inception and a member state of the Empire since its founding. It boasted a proud heritage of pacifism and nobility and the royal court honored both of those founding principles. Leia Organa had been raised to practice justice as a personal religion; they said she must have inherited it from her grandfather, the Senator Antilles who had challenged Palpatine for Supreme Chancellor, or her mother, who had disarmed Alderaan instead of bowing to Vader. Only a handful remembered her place of birth as Polis Massa and her mother as another Senator.
