In a moment that has shocked the Galaxy, Padmé Amidala was found dead from some inexplicable ailment. Days before her death, friends and colleagues had become worried about her. ?She looked like she hadn?t slept since the Temple was burned down,? a saddened Bail Organa told us. Was there something that the Senator was hiding? We believe so? for, in a shocking manner, it was revealed that she had been pregnant at the time of her death.

?This was completely unexpected and tragic,? her father said, shaking his head. ?Our little girl? gone.? He was not the only one to be shocked- at the funeral in Theed, many of the funeral-goers expressed similar shock and sorrow.

It was a known fact that Senator Amidala had not been married? nor did she ever seem to have any stable relationships (see page four for former flame Palo?s story)? so who was the father of their child?
We did some private investigating and were thoroughly knocked off our feet by what we found.

Not only had the Senator been secretly married- despite her professions that her ?busy life didn?t allow for relationships?- but her husband had been none other than Anakin Skywalker.

?I do think I remember seeing them before together,? the newly-made Emperor told us when we interviewed him in his personal apartments. ?It?s all so sad? they both had so much potential.?

This leads to two great mysteries- how could they have been married without anyone knowing? and where exactly has the Chosen One gone?

For those of you who live in backworld planets like Tattoine, the Jedi have very strict rules regarding attachments- as a fact, they are forbidden. Evidentially, someone failed to tell Anakin Skywalker about this. A source- who shall remain anonymous- claimed that the man had been in love with her for years! Our source also claimed that the first thing the Jedi said to the then-queen was, ?Are you an angel??

Somehow, those sappy words led to friendship? and more.

How he learned the art of seduction, we know not, but it is obvious that he was quite well-versed in it and, despite it being a forbidden talent, practiced it on the Senator sometime before the Clone Wards. In a move that the Jedi Council would regret- were any of them alive- they had assigned him along with Obi-Wan Kenobi to protect the Senator after a failed assassination attempt. ?He never let her out of his sight,? Ruwee Naberrie said when we asked him about how he felt about the man having been his daughter?s protector.

This all leads to a very interesting question- were the two even legally married?

It is easy to presume that Padmé Amidala had little control over her own fate and married him. We actually found the Nubian Holy man who officiated the marriage: ?It?s hardly valid- they only had a few droids as witnesses. They were suspiciously hush-hush about it. The Senator gave me some credits asking for me to not tell anyone.?

?Oh yes, mesa likie little Ani very much,? the Nubian delegate, Jar Jar Binks, eagerly told us. ?He wasa always coming to visit her at nights when the rest of wesa were in bed??

The most reliable source- none other than Master Kenobi- was unavailable for interviewing.

The Chosen One wasn?t the only one who was devious. During the months of her pregnancy, Senator Amidala became moody and often forced her handmaidens to do the things she no longer could.

Greetings from your new thread-mistresses, AnakinsFavorite and LilyHobbitJedi!!!

In honor of this being everyone's favorite Pepto-Bismol colored day, we bring you our new index, devoted to everything pertaining to our favorite couple!

It is our firm goal to:
-Bring back the love for the A/P 'ship
-Provide a user-friendly index of current A/P stories (conveniently collected in author, title, and summary format!)
-Hold discussions concerning A/P, writing and reading the couple-based fanfic, and other such things
-Having games and other interactive activities
-Raising awareness of different stories nominated and qualified for the Summer Awards
-Providing an opportunity for us A/P lovers to get together and discuss our favorite things

Below, we have provided several posts concerning future activities, information about indexing, etc. We shall post a monthly calendar, listings of former activities, and general rules concerning events.

Here in this thread, we shall be revolving about the premise of three very important themes:

Friendship

After the events of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith where Anakin and Padme are portrayed as lovers- and ultimately a married couple- it is easy to forget that they had started out as friends. Anakin had come from an foreign planet and, in the midst of the inhospitable things he encountered, she was his companion and friend during his troubling times... something he never forgot.

Forbidden Love

When Anakin saw Padme again at the beginning of Attack of the Clones, the feelings he'd felt for her as a child were rekindled tenfold. When Padmé in turn realized that she was falling in love with him, she tried to deny it unsuccessfully. In the end it was inevitable they would be forced to hide their love. Their love flourished through the Clone Wars and culminated in her becoming pregnant with twins. Even when Padme was taking her last dying breath, her words and thoughts were of her husband.

The Heartbreaking End

The downfall of their relationship happened without them even realizing it. Only when Padmé confronted a Sithly Anakin on Mustafar did she realize what he'd become... and that she could not follow down his path. She never had an opportunity to make a new life for her and the babies- she died hours later due to trauma inflicted by none other than her husband. Twenty years passed, and the couple was finally reunited in the Force after Anakin had died saving their son and destroying the man who had divide them.

These are aspects that us A/P lovers often look over but are very important to the nature of their relationship. Keep your eyes peeled for these themes as we discuss all things A/P...

All in all, we are very happy to have each and every one of you here! Everyone is more than welcome to participate, so don't feel shy in joining in the discussions and having fun! There are cookies and punch *waves at imaginary table* for all of you!

ACTIVITY RULES

Scavenger Hunts

When the game is announced, anyone who wishes to participate may 1) work alone or 2) find a partner (you might want to create a sock together for convenience's sake). Then, announce here whom you shall be working with and what sock name (if you so choose) you shall be working with. You can only be participating once (meaning, you cannot sign on to participate on two different teams).

In the scavenger hunts, the hostesses shall announce a series of things (roughly twenty) that the teams shall have to look for. These things include but are not limited to the following:
-Author's that match mentioned attributes (For example, what A/P writer has twins, etc)
-Quotes out of specific fics
-Famous happenings in fics
-Former award winners
-And, of course, more.

You are to keep your answers confidential and between yourself and your partner. The goal is to find all of the answers- if at all possible- and, as soon as possible, PM the answers to this sock. If there is not a single team who correctly finds all of the 'objects,' the team with the most correct answers will win.

The moment the 'items' are listed, you and your partner may begin searching for them. They will, of course, be located in the Saga and be easily accessible (meaning, they will be located on the first twenty pages). We will give information on how to answer the questions- whether you need to provide links, names, titles, etc- with each event.
Cheating will lead to disqualification. If you cheat... simply do not get caught!

Any refrencing or hints to answers in this thread will lead to disqualification, and your partner shall be reassigned to another person.

Games

Throughout the course of this thread, various games and activities (such as the scavenger hunt) will be announced. We expect good 'writersmanship' and for all activities to fall under modly approval. Should you have any questions concerning this, please advise.

Challenges

Generally, these challenges shall be a writing prompt. With each one, specific directions (length, content, etc) shall be announced. Difficulty and time consumption shall depend on the particular activity. With each challenge, we shall announce whether or not the responses can be posted in the Saga, but all responses can definetly be posted here.

When posting a response to a challenge, follow this format (bolding and all):

Then, you commence in the actual posting.

Awards

We will be doing two things with awards...

At the beginning of each month, we shall have a theme- Best Kiss, Best Deception, etc- concerning A/P fics. You are to find one (and only one) story that you think best fits this category. PM the story's link and author to this sock. We will compile the stories into a list (similar to that of the Summer Awards) by the end of that first week telling how many votes each one got, etc. In the next week, we'll be contacting the authors of the stories asking them to send a small clip of their fic which they think bests fits this description. The third week shall comprise of you guys reading the clips and voting on which one was the best- PM your vote to this sock. At the beginning of the fourth week, we will announce the winner and cameo it in a separate post.

A Slight Disruption- Nine-year-old Han Solo is under the enslavement of a con-artist thief, who uses him and other children to steal and pick-pockets, but when they arrive on the centre planet of the Republic, Coruscant, Han uses the opportunity to run away. Suddenly finding himself being pursued by the Coruscanti police, Han escapes into the apartment buildings of the Senators and while climbing out of a window falls onto the balcony of Senator Padme Amidala. Needless to say, against Anakin Skywalker's disapproving of course, the very pregnant Padme becomes attached to the orphan boy who so desperately needs a loving family and home. But will the new responsibility of Han, in conjunction upcoming birth of his child, help Anakin to see the path to save someone is not always the quick and easy way, but the path that we know is hard, long, but ultimately right.

Master of War- This is an AU rewrite of ROTS in which Anakin gets an epiphany in the first scene where he speaks to Padme. Many of the scenes that took place in the movie still take place, only with slight changes because of Padmé's influence on Anakin and his epiphany. There is a planned sequel?

Outside the Force- Anakin Skywalker, instead of turning to the Dark Side and aiding Palpatine, helps Mace Windu kill the Chancellor. In this he is gravely injured. He survives but carries the injury. Unable to continue his duties as a Jedi, Anakin adapts to his place in the Order. Does he reveal the truth of his marriage to Padme? Does he leave altogether? All these questions and more are answered in this fic.

A Memory Forgotten in Darkness- Set After ROTS, Vader wins the battle of Mustafar but lets Obi-Wan go after which he sets off to find Padme. What if she lost her memory? Both the Twins died? Only to be brought back? Will Padme regain her Memories? will Vader revert back to Anakin through their love?

The Consort- Eighteen year-old Aria Jy'tari is stolen from her family to serve Vader's whims and wishes. She finds herself surrounded by lies, mysterious identities, and confusion as she becomes his wife... only to be constantly reminded that she could be dismissed at any moment.

The Game of Death- Anakin and Padme had decided to leave the respected careers, and raise their family on Naboo. However destiny, has a funny way of making things happen. Obi-Wan has fallen to the Dark Side in pursuit of The Game (a twisted fall to the Dark Side in which the winner looses)... and pulls Padme and Anakin down with him.

Sense and (In)Sensibility- In the sequel to Pride and Prejudice, the formerly bitter enemies Anakin and Padmé find themselves married... and trying to hide their secret lest they should face the wrath of their family and friends. Chaos ensues...

Too Blind to See- What if Cordé didn't die on the landing pad at the beginning of AOTC... and Padmé was blinded? Anakin was still assigned to protect her... but everything's changed. She never sees him in his adult form and doesn't trust the reckless Jedi- or want to allow him into her heart. When he is forced into turning to the Dark Side to save her life, the two lovers are separated... but meet under the most unusual

SCAVENGER SIGN-UP AND DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Scavenger Hunt

Okay, to kick things off here, we are going to have our first scavenger hunt! Since we obviously can't run around looking under rocks for things... we are going to do things a little differently! First, you need to find yourself a partner (unless you like working on your own) and announce who it is. Making a sock for both of you to post under might be helpful.

February 19th is the deadline for signing up. On the 20th, we will post the list of items you guys are to find. You will have a little over a week to find them all. DO NOT POST THEM! PM all answers (they will be final) to this sock by the deadline of February 28th at midnight! The winners will be announced on the 29th!

Be prepared to have to find fics (by last words, content, etc), authors (described by facts, especially one challenge one you shall have to pm to find out an answer from), former winners of contests, etc. It is going to be crazy but lots of fun, so we hope you all want to participate!

As co-threadmistress, I just want to see everyone having a good time, being able to find some good fics to read, and being able to enjoy the different activities! (Not that drool-worthy pictures of Anakin aren?t awesome!)

When I did it up, all I could think was ?Wow!? at all the awesome fics I found. It?s going to make going back through and reading some of them easier- so a big ?five?!

When was the moment you were first drawn to A/P as a couple? Why is it so?

I think it began when they were established (around TPM) as the future parents of Luke and Leia. To give faces to the parents was an awesome-filled moment. I sat there wondering what they were like? and just what kind of a woman could have fallen for the infamous Darth Vader.

Was there a particular fic that inspired you to write your own A/P story?

VaderLVR64 has always been an inspiration for me. Many of her fics have inspired me to write. It was actually her and a few author?s great works that convinced me to join her- I just had to tell them how much I liked their stories!

If you could meet any one A/P writer in real life, who would it be? What would you guys do/discuss?

Gosh, even I don?t know! There are so many. I?d definitely want to meet my old master, VA_Parky, at a Panera of something so we could eat chocolate goods while laughing and talking

I've always thought the story of Anakin and Padme's love was something special. For me it seems the more complications in a relationship, the more I'm drawn to it. And throughout the years I've grown to appreciate them even more.

I don't know if there was a particular fic exactly. When I collaborated with Kelia on a story it was the first time I'd written A/P and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I would really love to meet anyone. Every author definitely offers something a little different to the boards and I would sit and chat and pick someone's brain. Any volunteers?

I'll recommend the story Dancing With the Star Wars by VA_Parky. Her trilogy was absolutely fabulous and had me laughing hysterically one minute and in shock the next.

From ATOC. TPM was just cute and Ani was adorable but even though I knew they were going to end up together, I just didn't think of them as a couple - even a future couple.

ATOC, though, really brought the passion, the attraction and the forbiddenness of the relationship info focus. And forbidden fruit is always the most tantalizing. I was drawn in from that point on.

Wow, that's a tough one because there are several really great A/P authors who I'd love to talk with. Couldn't I just have a big backyard barbeque and invite everyone instead? Imagine that party!

Ah, if I'm pressed for one I guess I'd go with VA_Parky. She always does such an amazing job with her stories and I love how she incorporates humor into the most serious of stories. I'd probably pick her brain on how she manages that so effortlessly.

Force Help Me! She's pregnant... by VaderLVR64. It is one of the funniest, most enjoyable stories I have ever read. And VaderLVR is a genius at writing Anakin and Padme.

5 - You have a lot of information you are going to present, but I think you got it all in an easy to read format.

When was the moment you were first drawn to A/P as a couple? Why is it so?

May 16, 2002. That was the day I saw Episode II, and I fell in love with their love story. I think the thing that made it most poignent to me was the fact that I knew it was doomed to failure, but despite that you want them to be happy.

Was there a particular fic that inspired you to write your own A/P story?

Well, I wrote my first story after darksideyesplease's The Dating Game, but the idea had been floating in my head off and on before then. I just was not brave enough until that point to post, but darksideyesplease was very supportive. Trading ideas with my good friend for his fic was probably the thing that drove me to have an idea for a story. At the time I had not been aware how annoying plot bunnies could be when they aren't being written.

Urgh! This is hard because I've read so many that qualify in this category, so I guess I'll pick one that I don't usually write about when answering this question:

The Resurrection of Padme by darksideyesplease. This is a dark V/P story, that starts out heartbreakingly tender, but then evolves into a darker story. I like it because I think it captures all the many variaitions in Anakin's personality while at the same time tugging on the heartstrings of the reader as they read what he does. What do you hope to get from this thread (more A/P stories, some funsie games, shirtless Anakin pics you can drool over, etc.)?

I want to be able to chat w/ other people who love A/P as much as I do

We redid the format of the index to make it user friendly. On a scale of 1-5 (five being really helpful and one being 'will never use), how do you rate it? 4

When was the moment you were first drawn to A/P as a couple? Why is it so?

When I was reading the ROTS comic version and during thescene where Padme tells him she's pregnant. When they 1st reunite, he just hugs her. It is so sweet and I'll scan it if anyone wants it.

Was there a particular fic that inspired you to write your own A/P story?

Not really, I have always wanted to write short stories or vigs, so I am looking forward to the challenges here. Short, witty, funny vigs always make me want to write one.

If you could meet any one A/P writer in real life, who would it be? What would you guys do/discuss?

VaderLVR64, I love her stories so much. I think we would talk about all aspects of their relationship.

Tragic in the same way as ROTS, but has a bittersweet ending.

 

Nice to see this thread and trying to get some new flow/blood into A/P.

I think with the Clone Wars movie/TV series, that's really going to help the ship out a lot, as well as Star Wars fan fiction in general.

Against my first inclination, I have decided to allow jmsbndgrl and HandmaidenVeme team up together even though I know they'd just have way too much fun together... and that the Boards will never be the same again! If anyone wants to join (you can do it by yourself if you don't want the hassle of finding a partner) just shout out!

We've recieved some questions about indexing. We want current stories... or ones that have been replied on recently and are thus on the first few pages of the Saga. If you have any questions, just shout out!

In my opinion, A/P was rather shallow in the movies. Okay, so there was a great story, but it wasn't carried out right. I think that's where us writers can come into play. We can create thees complex tales with such emotional depth it's almost fascinating.
