Hey, I'm in the process of making my own 'pastiche' of the Lucasfilm Ltd logo for the beginning of my movie. I'm currently following this tutorial. I don't have Adobe Illustrator, so I've been subsituting and trying to find my own methods in Adobe Photoshop. This is what I have so far:

(you may have to copy & paste it into your browser)

Does anybody know of a method for making the text into a nice arc? You help would greatly be appreciated, Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure because I don't have Photoshop on this comp, but can't you do it in Photoshop? It's like a text effect or something.....? Somebody? Don't make me a liar...

Ryan_W you are correct. Photoshop has text effects built in which allow you to do numerous warping effects, such as arching... It is on the upper right hand corner when you Create text and the text is selected. It shows the letter "A" and a little { thing under it.

For some reason I can't find a suitable Photoshop one for quite that kind of warping.

Or maybe I'm just an idiot. Try it, see if you like anything.

There are a few ways of doing this, depending on the version of photoshop you have, but probably the simplist would be to just select/marque the bottom part of each character and then using the distort tool just click/drag the handles upwards (or down) so they more readily echo the curve.

If you have Photoshop 7 you could used the text ARCH feature on all of the type, and probably do okay with that alone, but this only works on text that hasn't been rasterised yet, and would need the text to be retyped in a straight line, then arched and then enlarged so the top edges align etc. It looks as thought he text you have already has been.

It's a good start though, the actual font looks good, so did you do a bit of freehand work in there at the bottom?
