LOL....am I the only one who laughed hysterically while watching that French trailer, when Zuko said, "You have nowhere to run!!" all srsbzns like, then it cuts to Aang taking out his gilder and jumping off the ship...

But honestly, the voice over in the French trailer is my favorite one so far. It explains the plot of the movie so much better than any of the American ones did....*pout-fest* (better posters....and now better trailer...so unfair)

 

I cannot wait for this movie.

I really have to say,I am loving how this movie is looking visually. M. Night's films have always had good cinematography and this one looks to be no different(Especially on this film since he's working with Andrew Lesnie, the cinematographer from the Lord of the Rings trilogy). Even if the rest of the film ends up being dissapointing(personally, I think it looks good), at least it will be beautiful to look at. I don't know if those environments are real, CGI, or a combination of both but they are amazing. ILM seems to have outdone themselves on this one. The bending effects look very convincing as well. Also, parts of James Newton Howards score for the film have leaked onto the internet and I must say it's great! Listen for yourself.

Just watched season 1 on Netflix, so here's my question:

Are there ANY stills or clips from this movie that show Aang being goofy, or even just smiling? To use a Keanu metaphor, he's all Neo and no Ted, whereas the Aang on the show I'm watching is a lot of both.

This is looking like Dragonball: Evolution all over again.

 

Anyone else struck by the resemblance of the title design to this:

The titles are close enough without having near matches on font...color...etc.

 

I don't think it'll be that bad.

I do recall reading they removed a lot of the "funny, comedic" touches from the show and tried to make it a bit darker/more realistic. I don't think Aang in the movie will be quite as fun loving. However, I also think it's a marketing tool to make him look "bad ass" and appeal to a wider audience. If he's a stoic statue the entire movie, I'll be leaving very disappointed.

I'm really miffed that the date got changed to July 1st, since I already got the evening off for the midnight and now have to pray my bosses haven't scheduled me late for the evening of June 30th.

 

Well, that's something. I'm hoping there's more silliness in the movie, and that they're just playing up the "stoic chosen one" angle in ads because they think it'll sell better.

 

There does seem to be an attempt to minimize how much Aang there is. You rarely hear him speak, I don't think you ever see him speak, and usually any shots of him are in the midst of battle or a serious moment. I'm also concerned about Sokka's humour and bumbling, being lost

 

That last trailer has some Sokka comedy.

Now if only we could get a hint of some Uncle Iroh comedy...

 

Or TEA, for that matter.

 

There had better be tea, and it better not be chai!

On a side note, you were right... I'll probably be seeing this. One thing this movie has going for it, there's literally nothing interesting in theaters right now or any time soon. I'm bored and I want to go to the movies... and my in-laws already stole my thunder and took my son to see Toy Story 3, so I'll be taking him to TLA or The Karate Kid with my Dad.

I think people are being a bit harsh. No one has seen the movie, nor has a single review been released (that I know of). No one knows if it's "butchery" just by the look of some trailers. In my opinion, the movie looks well done. I don't think it'll a carbon copy of the show, but at the same time...it's not supposed to be. The same was said with The Watchmen when it came out, "Oh it was awful!" Actually it was a faithful representation but in the end, it was Snyder's take on the source. Just as this is Shyamalan's take on the source.


I'm not here to convince anyone to see the movie. If you'd prefer not to spend money on a [ridiculously] priced ticket, then don't by any means. All I know is I'll be there at Midnight to check out the movie because I enjoyed the show and the film looks to be shaping up nicely.

 

Well my friend at Nickelodeon already heard Mike and Bryan's review, and they weren't too pleased at how it turned out.
