talk about the Magneto-spin off movie that we know is coming. hopefully they bring back Ian McKellen for this.

i wonder if this will be a prequel or something that takes place in between the current films? we'll definately see other mutants in this bc it'll probably show him recruiting for his cause. i just wonder who else will we see in this?

 

All previous rumors point to it being a prequel.

I'd rather them focus on the character that is the name sake of the film then throwing so many mutants in that it overwhelms things.

 

I hope they get Tom Hardy as a young Xavier.

Seriously, I hope that the prequel rumors are true. It would be great to see the radicalization of Erik Magnus onscreen and the deterioration of his friendship with Charles.

 

We're supposed to be getting that, at least in part, during x3.

 

Yeah, they were still friends in the first movie.

 

and the second movie...

but a prequel would be awesome. To see his marriage and how he came to dislike humans so much and want mutants to have supremacy. I would LOVE to see that on the screen.

I wish they would bring his kids into the movies... maybe this one?

Best choice IMO since he was Shinzon in Star Trek: Nemesis with Patrick Stewart.

 

Should be interesting to see if they would handle his powers and such in the same way as they did in the X-Men series. Nothing would ruin a movie like that faster than inconsistency in the "look" of those details.

 

Yeah, that's why I mentioned him. I did so jokingly, but in all seriousness, he would be great in the role.

Maybe we would see a bit more of him in the Concentration Camp like 1 was suggesting...

 

It would be interesting I just don't know how well it would play. Comic wise the whole time in Auschwitz was more set up for why he is where he is then any formative thing power wise.

Things started getting more interesting once he got out and met his wife, that would be interesting to see as it was when he really started getting the hang of his powers. Its also an emotional part of his life. Though you'd have to CG the walking talking cow

Its still not an officaly offical thing but almost any article on X3 will mention the Wolvie and Mags spin-offs.

McKellan is probably out of the question to be in it if it`s a prequel

 

Its still up in the air. Arad has said he can't imagine anyone other then McKellen in the role regardless of timeframe.

When they were first talking about it it was going to be a younger guy but I think they've though about going not quite as far back so that they could use McKellen if he would do it.

"I will always want Ian McKellen," Arad says. "There's no way for me to think of not walking into the story through him ? through something happening now, and then going back there. Ian is an ambassador for this, and he needs to be there."

 

i couldn't see anyone else but Ian McKellen playing Magneto either

 

I haven't said it here yet (we were talking a bit about in the Wolvie thread) but McKellen was actually one of the few casting complaints I had about the movies.

I wouldn't mind a different actor for it but I think it would kill the movie.

 

McKellen was actually one of my favorite casting choices for the X-Men movies right next to Stewart as Xavier

 

Stewart was almost a given. I really couldn't see anyone else ever.

McKellen on the other hand came off as a frail old man to me. I wasn't thrilled about it when it was first anounced though so I guess I was already biased.

 

just out of curiosity who else would you have play him?

 

I've been trying to remember the other guy that was in the running for the role in the first movie. At the time I though he was perfect but I can't for the life of me remember who it was now.

Thats been happening a lot lately (I'm still trying to remember the fake Darth from the PSA). Getting old is hell

I have no idea who I would like to see in it.
