Esmir, Why do Italians all ride scooters badly? How many female bottoms do you have to pinch to become Prime Minister? Why when little old ladies become widows do you dress them in black, and leave them by the side of the road? What have you got against paying tax? Why do you use your hands so much when you talk, and why does it sound like arguing?

    Prego

Why do Italians all ride scooters badly?
They ride Vespa because it's cool, and they ride it aggressively because it's the only way to survive in the traffic jam.

How many female bottoms do you have to pinch to become Prime Minister?

Bottom pinching is more of a bonus than a requirement for the position.

Why when little old ladies become widows do you dress them in black, and leave them by the side of the road?
They feel alone and they like to interact with strangers passing by.

What have you got against paying tax?
    It's considered weak.

Why do you use your hands so much when you talk, and why does it sound like arguing?
Words are for the literal meaning, hands are for the emphasis.

Esmir, do you import/export olive oil?
How many bottles do you need ?

So, is pizza an Italian thing or not? I've heard many different answers to this question, still not sure what to believe.

We claim cultural heritage over it only when it's made without garlic.

... so what's the point in that? Garlic makes everything better!

Not pizza, if it's a proper one. I'm coming from a country where we have a very distinct pizza-culture of our own, but there is nothing like a proper Italian pizza.

Can you please self-gif a get out! for me?

    Why is Italy?
    Better names were already taken.

    Can I move to Roma?
Yes, maybe just don't wear the clothes of your avatar when you walk around.

Of course not, people will want to take photos with me and it will be terrible. And the people who wear those costumes probably have dibs or something, and I wouldn't want to move in on their territory.

Have you been to a Buca di Beppo restaurant?
    never

How long have you had a word for "volcano"?
The word comes from Vulcan, the little island close to Sicily, whose name is derived by the God of Fire, represented as a blacksmith, who is in turn the Roman version of the Greek Hephaestus, the god who forged Achilles's shield and armor.
Most of Greek gods have a Roman analogous, differing almost uniquely in the name (Zeus--> Jupiter, Hera --> Juno, Ares --> Mars, Aphrodite --> Venus etc. etc.)

So how do you really feel about hosting the winter Olympics again? And how many Fiats did it cost to win the nomination this time?

I probably won't see any match 'cause prices are very high. It might be cool to see more foreigners around though.

Don't know. These things are often shady. But Turin 2006 went rather smoothly and Cortina is a beautiful place, so perhaps it will work decently after all.

Who do you think makes the best Galato in Italy? (I still think about Grom when they had a shop here in NYC. That hazelnut gelato was bellismo! 10 years later it's still on my mind.)

Grom is very good indeed. Turin is quite strong with ice cream. If you happen to go there, remember the following places:
    Ghigo
    Fiorio
    Talmone
    La Romana
    Il Siculo
    Baratti Milano

most of them are also famous for their hot chocolate.

I would actually enjoy that thread, and you'd end up to be useful for a change.

Grazie. Turin sounds like a great place to visit.

And another gelato question for you:

What is your favorite flavor of Gelato?
