It'd be boss to see him in black ROTJ-style clothes and using his green 'saber again. One of the many things I dislike about the prequel trilogy was how they had the Jedi walking around in their dressing gowns all the time. Just wear normal clothes!

Hmm? Luke was wearing jedi clothes, he just didn't get another cloak after losing the first one.

I can buy Luke wearing Jedi Robes. I'd prefer not, but I can live with it. I DON'T want the Jedi who come after him to though.

Mark wanted Luke to have a girlfriend in the CT. He pitched it to Lucas but obviously it was rejected. Harrison Ford's wish for Han to die was realised in TFA. So, I'd actually like Mark's girlfriend idea to happen. Even if Luke did have a wife and she died sometime between ROTJ and TFA.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of Panthers fans suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

I don't miss my old friends. With Han, everything was always about him. Now I only hang out with rocks. At least they're good listeners.

Same here....I really hope that if Rey is his daughter that Luke's wife is still alive as well. I'm about dead mom-ed out in Disney movies.

    Terrible waiting. [face_plain]
I want to see Luke in action too. Right now. So come on give us at least an exciting new comic with Luke past ROTJ or in the time period between V and VI. So some new stuff... [face_praying]

All that's missing in this picture is his green lightsaber :D I'm cool that we got Obi-Wan-like Luke in TFA but I would love it if we get a glimpse of action-man Luke in episode 8. His beard in this pic is also spot on. Hey, maybe Rey can even cut it for him for some lighthearted father/daughter-like bonding moment.

Before I left, I told Leia I would miss her. All she said was, "I know." Han laughed. He ruined that woman.

Thinking about Rey and the few reddit rumors about a reveal, so could it be that Rey is the daughter of Snoke's wife? I mean Luke had an affair with Snoke's wife and after Luke found out he had a daughter, he stole Rey from Snoke and his wife? But since he was not sure if she was already tempted by Snoke and the dark side, he brought her to isolation on Jakku? [face_thinking]

so its getting very fan boy/girl in here.
since when does one's bias towards a certain character (not even the main character) determine this trilogies character arcs? death, while not my ideal scenario to play out, certainly wouldn't be "the absolute worst", not by a long shot. as some have said (the ones able to see that story>*insert character* is more important) its crucial we get a good Star Wars story, rather than some "perfect walking into the sunlight" scenario for Luke Skywalker. Is that all you want? for him to live, and everything else comes after? no. theres certain aspects as seen throughout the Sage that come good from a character dying. theres certain aspects throughout the trilogy that come good from 'hiding' or 'exiling ones self'. if yoda and obi-wan didnt, there would be know over throwing the Empire. if Obi-Wan or Yoda didnt die, who's to say Luke would have the same drive to face his father? anywho. im not saying that it would be GREAT if Luke dies in ep IX, im saying that if the story calls for it, and its executed well, then there shouldnt be a problem. the problem is you, your personal attachment (ironic that was a topic a few pages back which ill get to down below) to the character, that is blinding you to whatever story reasons calls for it.

i see Luke with no chance of dying in VIII ( hasnt this been basically confirmed ). i see VIII as being very introspective in terms of characters. Luke is going to have to recover and build himself -and others - back up. Leia is going to have to sort herself out from the trauma of her son killing her husband. Rey is going to no doubt have some sort of morale dilemma she has to overcome. Finn is going to more than likely get over trauma from the concussion/series of events that happened in TFA, namely Kylo, leaving the FO, and a relationship growing between a girl who is nowhere to be found. Kylo will have a lot introspective attention. all this on the backdrop of what i imagine to be some conflict between the Resistance and FO.
in relation to Luke, he will come through it good, we will find out what his reasons were for leaving, what his reasons were for staying put *hint* The First Temple was mentioned for a reason!! and what his plans are going forward. Rey will follow suite, while overcoming her problems, with likely something to show for it (in a bad way, maybe a robotic hand as is tradition, right?) which will take her and Luke one step closer to a rebuild of an Order (most likely). these hints are there and while i dont expect everything im saying to come true, thats the general strokes of what most people can infer based on a lot hints from TFA/extended comics/novels and general star wars themes.
IF in IX he dies, he still is the character that brought down an Empire, which, ended a period of peace extending over thousands of years. thats no small deal ya know. that doesnt change either. most importantly, Disney and Rian Johnson/Colin Trevorrow - for different reasons - dont strike me ones to kill a favourite - no - THE fan favourite of Star Wars in a bad way. thats just pessimistic, unrealistic and ridiculous, not to mention the fan fallout that would happen in a manner not even George Lucas would recognise.

i agree with this wholeheartedly. people skew what is presented to fit their agenda. a loud mouthed minority created a scene where its 'cool' to hate on the prequels, to the extent the main stream media were having digs at the PT, the funny thing about that, the complaints werent very coherent or clear, just presenting that there was a division among fans.

the Jedi reigned for thousands of years, whatever their 'code' was, it worked for the most part. feelings, attachments, all the rest were secondary (and often broken - with or without punishment, circumstantially) to being protectors of peace. the entire point of the PT was to show how elaborately brilliant Sidious' plan was to not only turn Anakin (which is also arguably the main point of the PT - to show us WHO Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader/Luke's father was) but SHOW us how he basically single-handedly over threw the Republic, creating the Empire we see in the OT. everything else was either extra lore, deeper character insight (obi/yoda/etc), and generally, an inversion of what was happening in the OT - lush planets, the jedi in power, democracy shown, droids, clones, etc etc. any misgivings with acting or certain things like the Jedi accepting clones, is really redundant and nit picking at the overall argument that the Jedi ARE good and their rules help hold power and peace in a brimming Republic, while keeping the Sith (all but one, before more came about) out.
its delusional to think that the Jedi were bad. its delusional to think what the Sith did was good.
In regards to Luke, i have no doubt in my mind that if there is to be a Jedi Order that he creates, that he will change - or loosen up - a couple of the rules/code, because Luke was all about family and friends. does this mean it's right? thats for the writers to decide, because we all have varying opinions on that ; mine being that i would imagine that if there were more padawans or knights within the order/academy all being aloud to have strong feelings, strong attachments, etc, i can only infer that that would lead to the Dark side. why? lets have a look: Anakin is the outright example here. Luke was close. Kanan and Ezra are struggling. Ben Solo. Quin-lan Vos. Even the new heroin Rey has shown subtle hints with flirting with the dark side. lets not forget about all the Jedi in both the OT and the PT that have warned against it, outright stating all these paths that 'CAN' lead to the dark side. the rules were there for a reason and thats most likely because its a way to necessitate certain individuals - or partners/groups - to not turn to the dark side and be a threat to the many lives in the GFFA (it took TWO people on the dark side to reign with an Empire, lets not forget). i think with great power, or with with great motives, you have great responsibility and sometimes that comes with a cost, the cost here is that maybe you cant have a wife/husband/child, or, if you do, you have to be strong enough in the light to not flirt with the dark side, or, have be manipulated by the people of the dark side (which inherently is also a risk - what woudl you do if it was the Code/light side or save your child/wife/husband?).
