In Episode 1 there are distinct markings on the side of the cockpit on the outside of the small yellow star fighter young Anakin uses to blow up the control ship/space station whatchamacallit from the inside.

I was just wondering if anyone knew what those markings meant, if anything?

I will screencap if necessary, or someone else can...

Thanks, hope someone can answer this for me as I haven't seen any info on it elsewhere.

I....don't see any markings. All I see is solid yellow, and perhaps some scratches and scrapes here and there....

But then maybe that's just me.

Do you mean the futhark letters? Futhark is the formal form of the written Naboo alphabet, used on signs and spaceships, that sort of thing.
The traditional handwritten form is called futhork.

To futhark or to futhork - that is the question
