    Zero-G
    Big Trouble in Union Square

Zara took Cross’s legs while Blue picked him up under the armpits. They hustled to the subway entrance.

"That was a good bit of heroics back there. Quite the kick you put on him,” said Blue.

Zara blushed, unused to words of praise, and smiled back. She knew her tiny gymnast’s physique often caused people to underestimate her.

“I can punch above my weight,” she said, humbly. “But he was something else. Your move was good. I’m better at running away, not getting in close…”

They laid Cross down gently. Zara thought about how to get him out of here. Her ninja was still rideable, but even if he was conscious enough to hold onto her waist, it was no way to transport a casualty in his condition.

Blue was up and shouting at the crowds again, but they were not listening. She came to his side and glanced across the street at the statue of Mallen.

She said, “Do you know how bad it will be? I mean, are we talking a hand-grenade, or Hiroshima?”

At that moment, an ambulance arrived and white-coated medics poured out and went to Cross.

“Lane sent us,” the leader explained to Zara. She nodded; Lane Greymalkin had introduced her to Cross. They were picking up the bikes, too.

“Do you need a stim, Agent, for the pain?” another medic pointed to her leg.

“It’s fine, I bruise easily,” she said, a little embarrassed. Zara had been trained from early childhood in the Chinese Olympic gymnastics program. She was no stranger to pain. She looked at Blue again and marveled at his complete lack of injury. Are you invulnerable? She wanted to ask.

Then the statue erupted. She took an instinctive step backwards. Again, their nearby fairy godmother had done a neat trick, and the energy blast was directed upwards and away from the crowd.

Mallen was back for more, and he looked none the worse for his recent entombment. Zara looked at the civilians and bit her lip. One of them was even squaring up to the villain.

“Blue, someone’s going to get hurt if we keep going like this. I’ll try to lead him away from here…”

She sprang into a double forward somersault then went Zero-G and shot skywards. She flew like an arrow over the head of Mallen and shouted down as she passed.

“Hey, Jerk! Catch me if you can!”

Then something strange happened. The air seemed to warp around Mallen. Wind swirled with energy. She saw a ripple of movement. Someone else is there, right behind Mallen, someone invisible…

    Aegis (Casey)
    NYC

Aegis held on to Adam's hand watching the battle continue to unfold. Blue again playing the hero, trying to keep everyone safe. Even after the threat had been neutralized, helping move the injured to a safe location, telling everyone to run. The fight was over, he should be heading over to them now, they had a mission to complete, had he forgotten?

Looking to Psion she could see him concentrating, very very hard. Probably more than he ever had before. And succeeding on whatever he was doing. Deep in her heart she wondered why he even needed Blue, or herself, when he already had such fantastic powers that could control all the universe. Blue was just a tough fighter, and she, well she was just a monster. He could do so many amazing things and yet he slummed it with people like her. Surely her and Blue were just hindrances, distractions from him achieving his goals. What those goals where she didn't know but they certainly could be anything, with his power he could bend the world to his will.

The Morlocks were closing in on the fight and beyond that she could hear but not see something else intervening. Blue would be safe, at least for now. Until he inevitably throws himself into another fight that he can't win.

Moving a little further away Psion asked her to hold onto his arms. Her brow shot up.

"You can fly? When were you going to tell us…" Yet another thing that made him a far stronger hero and another thing that made her question if he truly needed a team around him. He can fly can turn metal into brittle glass, can direct an explosion harmlessly into the sky, he was already a perfect powerful hero. Was she even necessary? Did he even need Blue's guidance?

His little joke didn't do much to quell her feelings of inadequacy. He could fly, all she could do was punch really hard, he could just write someone out of existence if he so wished.

There was time later to question if this team needed to be. They had places to be and people to drop off.

“I can punch above my weight,” Zara said a bashful look on her face “But he was something else. Your move was good. I’m better at running away, not getting in close…”

"I'm better at taking punches than running away." He said looking up and hoping that the crowd would take the freaking hint. "So we balance each other out." His mind was just thinking up things to say, to keep things calm. Though if Psion kept dragging them into White Star missions, it was likely that they would be crossing paths with Zara again soon.

“Do you know how bad it will be? I mean, are we talking a hand-grenade, or Hiroshima?”

"No clue," Blue said honestly as the medical team showed up and started to tend to Agent Cross. A medic gave him a look and Blue just shook his head. He was fine, he was always fine, no matter what his body went through he was always fine.

Zara was showing good heart shrugging off the bruise that was forming on her leg. He gave a nod but before he could say anything the statue detonated and acting on instinct Blue again interposed himself between Zara and the explosion, even though there was no need. The blast was directed upwards and the shrapnel fell cool and light to the ground. He could tell Zephyr's handiwork when he saw it, all he could do was shake his head.

Did he really need a dumb meatshield like Blue when he could defuse any situation with only his mind?

“Blue, someone’s going to get hurt if we keep going like this. I’ll try to lead him away from here…”

"Right," Blue replied leaping over the low wall and preparing to take the fight right to the villain in the only way he knew how.

Before he could move Zara executed a series of maneuvers that Blue could only dream of pulling off before flying over Mallen's head taunting him.

Blue prepared to follow her, let him chase her and move him away from the civilians then allow him to try and take him down safely. It wasn't much of a plan but it was something.

Though something seemed different, there was something else at play, something he couldn't see affecting the light blasting meta. Blue took up a place next to the big Morlock looking to them and part waiting for him to take the bait of try and shoot at him. Though time was running out, this standoff would only last a few seconds more before Blue would have to do something.

“You can fly? When were you going to tell us…”

Zephyr’s heart skipped a beat as Casey’s question rang in his ear and his mind. Her tone was justifiably incredulous and he decided to take it as such. He did not want to read into it or presume anything.

There was a lot the team didn’t know about each other, they had operated fairly well with an unspoken code of privacy. Saving lives came first, no need for details. Sure, Blue had never shown them his face, but that wasn’t so bad. He dreaded to imagine how they’d react if they learned that he was half Kree….half alien, like REAL alien from outer space alien.

“Well, yes, you could say that, but it never really came up, you know, with all the hiding and skulking about…” he replied almost apologetically, looking at both Aegis and Adam.

He could tell that the team needed to have a meeting, one were they could air out anything they had on their minds. Zephyr was unsure of how it would turn out, if his friendship with Blue and Casey would remain intact in this new ‘reality’ they suddenly found themselves in.

All he knew and could feel with all his heart was that he needed them, his friends. He’d never felt more powerful in his life, and that scared him; with his powers he could do cool things and also terrible things, and he certainly did not want his ability to define him, to change his perspective. That boisterous meta causing trouble was only a glimpse of what a power monger was like, and he refused to go there.

“ We can always talk about it later, we can order pizza and stuff. But first…”

Psion had been preparing the ‘cloud’ around them while they spoke, it obscured them from prying eyes and it also prevented his two passengers from seeing out, sudden acrophobia was a real thing for first timers experiencing ‘unassisted flight’ and he did not want to cause any distress.

With a gentle lift off, their feet would no longer feel the ground and their bodies would angle forward slightly, the body orientation falling somewhere between Mary Poppins and PeterPan. He made sure to pressurize the ‘cloud’ comfortably, doing away with any discomfort to the inner ear, the ‘foggy’ surroundings would give the eyes nothing in particular to focus on ( except each other) eliminating vertigo.

“If you want to take a peek outside let me know…” He offered with a tinge of excitement in his voice, obviously he enjoyed flying and maybe Adam would want a peek.

“Do you think Blue will agree to keep an audio channel open, you know, to keep us in the loop?” he asked with undisguised concern.

Aegis had a greater chance of getting Blue to do something sensible for the sake of teamwork, and Psion knew that she was just as worried ( probably more) about their team leader’s well being. Even though they couldn’t be there by Blue’s side during the unfolding situation, having a link and knowing that he was safe was one of the best ways to keep morale high.

During the short flight, Psion kept on high alert, ready to veer to safety should anything suspicious enter his sense field. There was no way that he would allow any more delays to this mission or risk the safety of his passengers, they were counting on him to do his part.

“White Star, this is Team Psion, package incoming.” He would announce over commlink as the ‘cloud’ landed near the abandoned helipad.

    “Please relay final instructions, over.”

‘Calm, cool and collected, you can do this…’ The op was reaching completion and Psion wasn’t about to let his guard down, but maybe later in the wee hours of the night, he could find a moment to unravel the many thoughts that troubled him.

Aegis, Blueline, Psion, Zero G &Gemini
Big Trouble in Union Square, Gloves come off!

    Back in Point Nam

Daisy and Captain Haze stared wordlessly at the screen. Daisy had her arms crossed over her chest, a concerned expression etched on her face. Captain Haze had his hands clasped behind his back and looked intently at the developments.

Agent Lane was streaming a feed from a ( brave or foolish, your pick ) bystander on social media. While relaying accompanying data.

Agent Cross was finally in the hands of the medical team, and it looked as if both Gemini and Agent Zero G engaged the rampaging meta dubbed as Mallen, according to a sound-byte.

But where was the package? There were no eyes on the package?

Lane…..” Daisy spoke up while watching the screen. “Can I get a sit-rep on Team Psion and the package?”

She’d spied Blueline in the crowd, but hadn’t seen any of the others. Time was ticking.

Lane’s VR Image was visible at the top right of the broadcast as an acknowledgement was given.

    [“At once , Chief.”]

    **************************************************

Close to the Union Square area

Adam felt calmed by Psion’s words and chuckled at his joke. He’d always dreamed of flying. That it was happening now bordered on unbelievable. He felt a little surprised that Aegis was unaware that her friend could fly. That was curious, but he did not dwell on it.

After quickly checking that the back pack was secure, he held onto Psion’s arm.

“I trust you.” He said confidently. “I’m ready.”

    **********

    USQ Dirty Street Throw Down!

Once again, Mallen had been caught off-guard by a surprise attack. He had his eyes set on the Morlock in front of him, and the bandana hero with the wrestling moves. Two against one - he really liking those odds- that’s when he suddenly felt his arms grabbed by someone strong and the back of his knees were kicked, sending him to the ground into a kneeling position. That was followed by strong pressure from his surprise attacker who tried to restrain him by pinning him in place.

Whoever this was, it was someone strong.

    Mallen resisted and smiled.

At that moment, a figure vaulted over his head and shouted at him. It was the female who’d kicked him a few moments earlier before he’d been encased.

“Hey, Jerk! Catch me if you can!”

“Oh, darlin’, darlin’, honey bun! Don’t mind if I do.”

Mallen shrugged, and when he did, a powerful surge of electrical energy exploded from him, engulfing the area. Everyone inside a fifty feet radius would be hit by the powerful surge and sent backward, wracked and burnt by the energy. In addition, every camera within the field would also short-out, ending any further broadcasts.

Thankfully, Psion and his two charges were already beyond the range of effect.

Gemini would find that Mallen’s strength had spiked, easily shrugging off his grip, but not just that, the electrical attack would cause his systems to pause for a second as compensators automatically kicked-in.

[Jarvis: Sir, Suit Power has been fully charged and we’re now at 120% capacity. Take caution not to be hit by a stronger charge, as it may overtax our energy compensator efficiency.]

Even as Cameron listened and was aware of what happened around him, he would see that Mallen took off like a shot. His systems would clock him at over 90 mph, easy. The man was not running away, he was going straight for Zero G. Mallen would be upon her in a blink of an eye, just before she landed.

Blue would heal from the electrical attack, of course. His ‘uniform’ would look more like the costume he had intended for Halloween. But all around him, there were wounded. The Morlock that stood with him was down, as were the many stubborn and curious observers and wanna-be social media reporters in the ‘crowd’. There were cars stalled with unconscious drivers. After this, things would definitely escalate, and there would likely be a guaranteed aerial response.

    Sentinels.

The ringing in his ears was a sign that his ear-piece had also shorted-out. But the Doc communicator had not.

This whole mission was turning into a disaster.

Zara would still be airborne as she vaulted with her powers and would witness Mallen’s electrified flash. In that same instance, he would bolt after her, watching her as she descended, and would be ready to intercept her before she landed.

    ************

Some distance away, Aegis and Psion would get the incoming request from White Star. The trio was already airborne and on their way, and Adam was very much enjoying the fact that he was actually flying! For him, it was bliss!

[Agent Lane: Team Psion, we need an immediate sit-rep on your mission, over?]

Almost simultaneously, Psion would send his own message.

“White Star, this is Team Psion, package incoming.” Psion would announce over commlink as the ‘cloud’ landed near the abandoned helipad.

    “Please relay final instructions, over.”

[Thank you for the assist Team Psion. Adam can take it from there.]

“Thank you both!” Adam would say excitedly, then he’d give a quick hug to both Aegis and Psion. The boy would quickly move several paces away, stand firmly and cross his arms over his chest in a ‘W’ shape.

A heartbeat later, the air would shimmer just so, as two women in modern stylized warrior outfits recognizable as the Dora Milaje would walk into view. The barely discernible shape of a cloaked ship was probably somewhat perceivable to Psion.

“A pleasure to finally meet you Adam.” The lead woman would say.

“General Okoye!” Adam would smile brightly and run towards the woman.

“I cannot thank you enough for this.” Okoye would say to Aegis and Psion. The Noble Warrior seemed to want to say more, but did not. “Package reception confirmed.” She would say then.

    ["Copy that 23"]

With that, the Dora Milaje turned and disappeared from sight. Adam managed to turn back and wave a final good-bye before himself becoming unseen.

Team Psion had successfully delivered the package with minutes to spare, and the commotion at Union Square had kept potentially prying eyes from the exchange.

    SGC
    Greenwich village, Downtown NYC

It was no surprise that the streets would be crowded, for this was normal ins big city such as this one. A city were news travelled fast. SGC did not have to go to far to find a group of people huddled together. Actually, there were many groups of people exhibiting this behavior. Many more gathered before the screen in front of the convenience store across the street.

A group of young men that were walking distractedly bumped into ‘him/her’.

    “Oh, sorry ‘bout that….”

Only one of the four had reacted as they other three were absorbed by events unfolding on Union Square as published through social media.

“Yo! what the heck was that…..Damn!!!” The group watched on a hand held device and reacted with excitement.

The one who had bumped into ‘SGC’ simply moved to the side and waved her over.

“Here, take a look. It’s crazy!”

After a beat he added: "Uhm...so, what's your name?"

    Monin Bellascort
    Marshall’s, Upper West Side

No one really paid attention to the soggy and dripping jogger that was Monin. Well, very few people did. They gave him the once over, then went right back to their social media devices. Apparently something ‘big’ was happening.

The store guard was the only one who actually payed attention from the moment he arrived and had followed him, not doing a good job of keeping his distance or disguising himself when he spoke into his walkie-talkie. Still, the man did not engage as there was no actual reason to.

Thankfully, Monin being a man of means, possessed water proof electronics and protection. His wallet and phone were as dry as could be. He did have another message from his parents waiting for him tho. They were probably worried, if they too were glued to social media news.

The cashier had initially been busy looking up at the Jumbo screen by the register, as independent outlets copied each other and simply repeated what little news they had concerning the chaos down in Union Square. It was all very difficult to see, with only a few close-ups, but it was definitely all very interesting, to say the least. Probably more exciting than cashiering for over 8hrs in a freezing department store.

“Oh!?” The cashier exclaimed besides herself, pausing. She was impressed by the clothes he had chosen to purchase as well as his black card. Exclusive and Limited Edition jogging suits created by celebrities were not inexpensive, at all. The price tag alone was equal to monthly rent in the city.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the cashier looked up at him with interest and smiled. She was clearly trying to see if he might be some kind of celebrity.

“Thank you for shopping at Marshall’s.” She intoned graciously as the purchase was completed and he proceeded to leave.

Monin could now blend with the crowd to his heart’s content, except that his phone vibrated, indicating that he just got another text message, quite likely from his parents. Again.

Time was up and Blue started charging forward. Though almost instantly he regretted it. He could feel the hairs stand up on the back of his neck, the air become charged. There was a little shock, the metal zipper transferring some of its gathered energy into him and then into the ground. Before his body even had time to register that, the second larger wave stuck. Like a tsunami of lighting it stuck him sending him and everyone else flying back. The moment of freefall felt like to could last forever. His feet where dangling out in front of him, his long hair flew into his eyes and face, and the worst part was, he couldn't see where he was going to land.

He didn't so much land, as he was caught, by the rear quarter panel of a car. His arm that once hung in the air in front of him was suddenly behind him smashing into the tail light and shattering it. Pain shot out from his shoulder, it wasn't a full dislocation but he could feel the ligaments and tendons tear, not completely, not totally but, just enough to cause immense pain for a brief moment before settling into a dull ache. Clutching his shoulder he waited for a moment for the anguish to subside before rising to his feet.

The man was no longer subdued, but running free. All around him was carnage and destruction. The heavy morlock that was right next to him was still next to him but knocked out. Blue hastily checked to see if he was alive silently hoping that he was.

After only taking a moment to check on him, Blue rushed to Zara that was being chased by the monster. Part of him wanted to give everything he had to catching up to them but, another part of him knew that it was better to let him chase, to draw him away from the people that could be hurt this monster's power. Not that he had much choice. He wasn't a speedster, nor could he fly or teleport, all he had was his two legs and as a gym rat might describe it, good cardio. He was going to get there late, how late that was the only question.

"Psion…" he said into his com before it shocked him causing him to rip it out and throw it on the ground. Gritting his teeth he continued running hoping he wouldn't be a little late once again.

    Casey
    Helipad

There was a brief sense of accomplishment as they handed Adam off to the people that were clearly not from around here. She didn't really know where they were from but, something about it was familiar. As she was taken into the sudden hug her heart rate spiked and her body went stiff. Even now after a year she still couldn't accept hugs, didn't know how to act when she received one out of the blue.

Thankfully it was over quickly and she could breathe again. She gave a smile and a wave to Adam as he turned away. She wondered what this was all for, why did they have to transport this one boy across town? Though did she really get to ask those questions? Would she ever get those answers if she did ask them? Again it was all a little over her head.

Turning away she turned on her com and tried to reach out to Blue.

"Blue it's Cas...Aegis…" She corrected herself, "We wrapped up our thing, how are things on your end?"

    Nothing.

    "Blue you there?"

Again nothing, Casey could start to feel her heart beat faster in her chest.

"Blue stop playing around and answer."

Her breathing increased as she pulled up the location data for Blue, her Blue Tracker. There was nothing, the signal was lost. Her eyes widened and her pulse could clearly be seen hammering away in her neck.

    "Psion I can't reach Blue, I can't even find him…."

'Let me out.' she could hear the yellow eyed monster inside her heart demand. 'I can save him.'

    FDR Helipad

‘Go forth and do good, often and always’

The words of Master Tan came to mind, his martial arts teacher had been instrumental in guiding him through discipline and wisdom, showing him the difference between what some would call power and others would call strength, likewise he would learn of the long lasting rewards of doing good.

Not only did the team successfully completed a mission for White Star, but he also got to see General Okoye, THE General Okoye of Wakanda, Psion was simply starstruck. To him Wakanda was simply put, ‘the country of Heroes’.

In the absence of the Avengers and most major superheroes, Wakanda had risen to the occasion to lead peace loving nations and peoples through the present turmoil, against the Ultron Virus, the Malformed plague and the yoke of Doom.

Even the invisibility tech was impressive, the cloaked craft was neigh undetectable, the field somehow interacted with Psion’s sense and attempted to convince him that there was nothing there. Nanite tech, graviton tech? surely many marvels could be found in Wakanda.

He warmly accepted Adam’s friendly hug and returned it in kind. As he waved a final goodbye to Adam, Zephyr felt as if he was seeing a friend off to a long journey accompanied by a tinge of envy.

“Look us up if you’re ever back in these parts.” he said waving. ‘Safe journey my friend, you lucky bloke.’

He was elated and basked in the feeling, at least for a second or two before reality reasserted itself.

“That was totally worth it, I wonder…”

[Psion…] came Blue’s voice over the commlink , evidently getting cut off.

His heart skipped a beat with sudden alarm, Blue was in trouble, his friend was in trouble and they needed to get back to him with all due haste; there was no doubt things in Union Square were not going well at all.

Psion looked at Aegis who was growing more distressed by the second, which wasn’t a good sign either.

'Psion I can’t reach Blue, I can’t even find him…’ He recognized that she was reaching the threshold and had to act quickly.

Grabbing Aegis by the hand, the prime mover instantly formed the ‘cloud’ around them and took off with great speed.

“Let’s go find him, and bring him home…” He said confidently and reassuringly. He wanted to say more but knew better than to further agitate Aegis at this point.

Doc, give me Blue’s current or last location and feed me anything relevant to H.A.M.M.E.R, the police and Sentinels near Union Square.”

Sentinels were just nightmarish to contemplate and avoiding them at all cost was the best policy. If only they could get to Blue before the rest of the bad guys showed up. Worse yet, the supercharged trouble maker was beginning to tax his patience.

As they sped through the air, Psion reckoned that the Morlocks would help to provide an escape route if needed, so there was still hope, plus he did not want to see anyone captured, that had become a bit of a trigger for him.

That fear had moved him to learn to identify his teammates by their very composition, it was such a keen familiarity that went beyond what was normal, yet another unspoken factoid, would they be angry at that? Best to focus on what was ahead.

“C’mon Aegis, stay with me please…” He said appealing to Casey’s caring side.

Upon reaching high above the park and behind a rooftop structure, Psion would make a thorough sweep to find Blue or traces of him and match what he perceived with Doc’s info, it would be foolish to land in the middle of a bad situation and there were many players on the board.

“This needs to come to an end before it’s too late.” he muttered to himself, unable to keep a sense of foreboding from creeping into his mind.

    Gemini IC:
    ~Union Square, New York City~

He was resisting, as expected, but in the end Gemini was a little bit stronger. Still, the amount of strength this guy had was pretty nasty as it was.

Zero-G vaulted over their heads and yelled at him to follow, to which seemed to strike a chord in the man.

“Oh, darlin’, darlin’ honey bun! Don’t mind if I do!”

Gemini’s lips thinned. That didn’t sound good. The resulting explosion of energy confirmed that suspicion and he was staggered back. Thanks to his suit’s advanced nature, plus the nice little charge it managed to get from it due to his compensators…that was all. Just a little stagger. But it was enough.

Mallen was now suddenly stronger, shrugging him off easily where he had trouble before, and then was off like a bolt. No. Not Usain Bolt. Faster and with more of a lethal finish line.

Damn it! He really is going after her!

[Jarvis: Sir, Suit Power has been fully charged and we’re now at 120% capacity. Take caution not to be hit by a stronger charge, as it may overtax our energy compensator efficiency.]

    His right hand came up.

“Noted, Jarvis. Thank you. Keep up on notifying me for any sentinels or HAMMER activity. I need to know ASAP on their movements.”

Maintaining his invisibility, which he was starting to feel become a bit more taxing after this length of time, he fired his right repulsor at the projected trajectory to strike the man before he could slam into the White Star agent.

It was also set to 65% power. Seemed like he could take that level hit at this point. His physical augmentation he set for 50% however and immediately dashed after his shot, letting his jets speed him along so he’d get there before he could continue his assault of the asian woman.

He’d launch into a low flying kick as he arrived at the spot, so he could fluidly stand right back and have won himself a second or two near the agent as she landed. Likely confused.

Gemini spoke low so only she could hear him, “Get yourself and Blue out of here. Same with the rest of his team. I’ll handle this for now.”

Moving defensively to cover any incoming attacks from Mallen, he finished urgently, “You have only moments till HAMMER agents or worse arrive. Go! Now!”

From there he’d do whatever was necessary to defend her with Jarvis’ assistance so she could get away as requested. Gemini could only hope she listened.

    Zero-G
    Big Trouble in Union Square

Mallen looked up at Zara and shouted back with a nasty sneer, “Oh, darlin’, darlin’, honey bun! Don’t mind if I do.”

Then he exploded a massive electric pulse that flattened everyone nearby. Zara cursed. She had wanted to avoid civilians getting hurt. She spotted the shape standing behind Mallen – only for a moment as the electric pulse overloaded its stealth systems. Some sort of robot?

No time to consider that further. Mallen launched into movement. Zara blinked. He was superdense, supercharged and superfast! He zoomed right past her and got into a position to intercept her leap, all in the blink of an eye. He opened his arms wide ready to take her. She had underestimated him, again.

She was hearing nothing from the com-bead in her ear, as she had been on a private channel with Cross. But she had received direct orders from command. She wondered if they could hear her, and if they controlled the robot? [White Star, patch me into the team. I need help!]

All this transpired in a moment as Zara arrowed towards a hug she knew she could not escape. Me and my big mouth, she thought. How did Cross ever deal with this guy?

She needed to act. Leading him away was no longer an option.

She loaded a sudden gravity pulse into her body to make it heavy. This changed her trajectory and caused her to drop like a stone just before she reached Mallen. Now she had a new problem. Hurtling downwards, she went superlight again, but she needed to deal with the momentum. As she hit ground, she catapulted into a series of somersaults and spins, hopefully to try and evade Mallen… How quick could he react? How quick would help come?

The Watcher returned to the Moon, fresh having had his one and only viewing of an airport close-up.

There was someone in the Blue Zone... which was his space. He felt defensive of his privacy, though there was nothing there for him to claim as his own, save for that quiet spot that was unique to him.

    Attachment, as ever.

The man that stood there, humanoid, was not seeable with his psionic senses, not understandable with a mindprobe, nor decipherable, in the iconography that was inherent in a simple, nondescript, Black Coat.

He had no choice but to speak to the man with his voice, moving lips slowly but surely until sound emerged.

    "Who are you?"

The Black-Coat looked back to him.

    "Let's talk."

Big Trouble in Union Square Continues

He had been leering up at her as he ran, anticipating, savoring the moment he would catch the little-birdy-woman with her kicks and fancy ways. Oh, he would catch her alright. Then something changed, quite suddenly. Her trajectory did!!

Mallen realized he was going to overshoot the point of contact, but before he could do anything, something hit him from behind like a freight train.

“That actually tickled.” He thought almost surprised as he rolled on the ground with the momentum. Mallen came up, after reflexively stopping himself, just to get hit again by something he did not see. HARD!!

This time he went flying into a car several feet away and completely demolished the passenger side of it.

Blue would be running and seeing the strangeness ahead, but at least Zero G landed and came to a safe stop after a series of flips.

Someone unseen quickly spoke near to Zara.

“Get yourself and Blue out of here. Same with the rest of his team. I’ll handle this for now.”

The voice was close, but still there was no visible source.

“You have only moments till HAMMER agents or worse arrive. Go! Now!”

[Jarvis: Sir, Local authorities will be arriving in roughly about two minutes, with H.A.M.M.E.R. soldiers in tow. A pair of Sentinels will arrive less than a minute after that.]

The emergency sirens were a lot closer now than before, as the authorities were finally maneuvering around the traffic jam.

Psion would get a similar report from Doc.

[Doc: Psion/ Local authorities are inbound. HAMMER and Sentinels will arrive in 2 minutes. Blue’s location is being displayed now.]

At that same moment, Blue’s Doc communicator would ping him, informing him that his Team was trying to reach him.

White Star would contact both teams, at least those who could still hear.

[Lane: Team Cross, Team Psion, EVAC Now! You’ll be completed surrounded in three minutes. Gemini will cover your retreat. Head to Grand Central Station.]

Blue will see them first at ground level, Psion would spy them from air and Jarvis would highlight them in VR: Bounty Hunters. Eight in total, armored and armed, moving forward two by two, weapons at the ready, weaving through stalled cars, concealing their approach.

Ravens cawed in the back ground.

But none of that mattered, as a nearby car literally exploded, shattering nearby windows, setting-off alarms and rocking everything close to it.

    It was Mallen.

“Alright. Now I’m annoyed. You like taking pot-shots do ya?”

The man was not pleased, his ‘good humor’ was now gone. Mallen inhaled, then opened his mouth again as he exhaled. A fierce cone of fire erupted, becoming wider as it travelled forward. Everything in its path would be incinerated, for nearly 100 feet. He would cook the pretty-bird-lady, the bandana hero and anyone who now stood before him.

    Enough was enough.

    No more Mr. Nice guy.

Big Trouble in Union Square - addendum...

Zara recovered quickly from the forced landing and saw that the invisible robot had saved her - his intervention had forced Mallen to turn his attention away from her.

“Get yourself and Blue out of here. Same with the rest of his team. I’ll handle this for now.”

The robot spoke with a human voice, but he had not identified or even shown himself. Zara hesitated. Then a voice in her ear.

[Lane: Team Cross, Team Psion, EVAC Now! You’ll be completed surrounded in three minutes. Gemini will cover your retreat. Head to Grand Central Station.]

Zara looked from the estimated position of the invisible Gemini, and Mallen. She was a team player, and followed orders. The forces being unleashed here were far beyond her abilities anyway; she would cause more problems for Gemini having to look out for her, and there was nothing heroic about that.

Zara exploded into a tumble, and went Zero-G airborne again, arrowing towards the nearest skyscraper. She bounced off the building at an angle that helped her climb higher. Soon she arrived at the top floor of a building the other side of the street and took hold of a protruding ledge - scattering some ravens that had been watching the show. She was far above Union Square, perched on the ledge, looking down at the unfolding battle between super-beings.

    She hoped Blue was OK.

    Blueline & Casey
    NYC

Blue kept running kept charging towards the man that had caused so much damage. His communicator on his wrist buzzed against his skin. Psion or Aegis was trying to get in touch with him. That could wait, lives were in danger. Once again he watched as Zara executed a dramatic series of flips and turns, a dazzling display to say the least. That wasn't just her powers showing through it was training, training to a level he'd only seen in clips Lourdes had shown him of gymnasts. She had an interest in the performances having taken Ballet classes, which her father bemoaned in private to the young hero. Blue was left a little slack jawed for a moment before seeing Mallen take hard hits from an invisible adversary.

It seemed to be holding him off, even sending him flying. Blue wasn't giving up yet, not while the man was still a threat. His communicator buzzed again. But, the hero didn't have time to check it. All around him he saw figures closing in, armed and armored, they did not have good intentions. That didn't matter all he had to do was take this guy down and it would be over and he could get out.

He just needed to get close enough…

From her rooftop perch Casey could see the battle unfolding, the conflict of good and evil and could feel the time running out, they needed to leave, but she would not leave without Blue. Psion being next to her helped keep her fear under control, kept her present. But she could still feel that terrified monster pressing against the bars of her cage. Her eyes scanned furiously for her friend, for the boy in blue.

She found him his hoodie and jeans in charred tatters, his hood down and hair flying everywhere as he continued to fight. Even from here she could tell he'd been put through the ringer. She couldn't hear what was being said, she could barely make out the figures, a body went flying up into the air preaching themselves on a point up on a building. The beast that was continuing to fight. He seemed battered but not subdued. Her eyes fell on Blue hoping he would get the hint and get out of there.

"Blue we have to go, Blue…"

Her next words were cut off by a bright flash and the roar of flames….

"BLUE!" She cried her emotions suddenly overwhelming her, despair, fear, loss they all hit her system all at once...and the monster was out of her cage. Tears continued to fall from her eyes as she lept off the roof, landing on her feet with her fists slamming into the ground. The pavement cracked under the weight of her landing. Looking up with salt rivers running down her cheeks she dug her fingers into the tarmac leaving indentations before exploding into her fist step like a sprinter.

She steadily built up speed, the ground almost quaking under her steps. Soon she was bearing down like a freight train, aimed right at the man that was making her afraid, at the man that took her friend away.

'HURT' was all the monster said.

On the ground, just on the edge of the cone of flames a body stirred. His left arm was covered in black and red skin severely burned by even the very edge of the gout of flames. Rather quickly that burnt dead flesh fell away like ash leaving behind fresh unblemished skin. The burns didn't hurt, a clear sign of how bad they'd been, the nerves were burned away. His hoodie was now half burned off of him, the left sleeve completely gone, burned cloth across his upper chest, only a few threads now kept it and the shirt beneath functional, and barely at that. Almost his entire left side of his chest was exposed, the cold evening wind wiping across it.

He got his feet under him, using a nearby wall to help him up. As his legs started to bare his weight, pain shot through him, his legs giving out under the strain. The battered hero collapsed to the ground again. That was when he felt it the thudding footsteps of Casey, but not the usual happy smiling girl he'd come to know, but the beast that was inside her.

"Aegis…" His gasped with renewed urgency. He could feel the walls closing in, they needed to get out of here, they didn't have time to go toe-to-toe with this guy. Someone was already handling it. And he didn't want to see how far Casey would have to go to stop him, how deep into the monster she would have to descend.

He didn't want to see that.

Powering through his body's exhaustion, moving through the pain that racked him Blue got to his feet chasing after Casey

Once again hoping he wasn't too late to stop all of this..

    Psion
Big Trouble in Union Square, retreat

What was the deal with this guy? was he mentally unwell, was he some sort of powerful Malformed? Why was he so intent on sowing chaos and destruction. Psion couldn’t fathom why someone with such amazing powers would act so base.

“Yes, there he is!” Psion exclaimed, greatly relieved to have found Blue still in one piece, his sense abilities confirming Doc’s displayed imaging.

Aegis, look…” he began to explain excitedly, “We’ll zoom down while that horrendous guy is drawing all the attention to himself, grab Blue and get out of the area faster than a…”

Psion suddenly turned his head towards the bad man, as soon as the villain had opened his mouth, he felt the distinct agitation of molecules that always accompanied fire.

His silver eyes flashed inside his darkened visors, he acted both instinctively and reflexively, the need to protect his friend and the multiple innocents from that man’s wanton violence combined with ridiculously long hours of practice honing his skills to deal with this type of situations.

Unfortunately, Blue was incommunicado and couldn’t have known what was being planned. To their shock and horror, Psion and Aegis witnessed their team leader become engulfed by the searing flames.

Psion had seen and sensed the beautiful stream of fire energy moving forth as it projected from the man’s mouth, it was bright and quite potent, but he couldn’t let it incinerate those within its reach. With practiced concentration, he erected and earthen wall right in it’s path, the height, width and density of the construct made of sufficient substance to take on the fiery stream and perhaps be consumed by it instead of the intended targets.

However, the bandana hero had moved to a spot in front of the barrier and was felled by the gout of fire.

    “BLUE!”

The sound of Casey cry was close to a primal scream of fear and despair, a chill ran over Psion for he knew that she had turned.

Her powerful frame leapt off the building and landed cracking the pavement as she then sped forth on powerful legs.

'Oh Casey…he was going to heal…’ He was saddened and heavy hearted, what torment it must be to live like that.

With a few key strokes he set a one minute count down on his handcomp. One way or another they were leaving this area, he did not want to be caught by HAMMER, the Sentinels or Bounty Hunters, he decided that Blue and Casey could hate him afterwards if they felt so inclined.

Upon descent , he recalled that the invisible metal humanoid had given the Supercharged villain what for, was that Gemini? he could tell that there was a person inside. So it was a type of mechsuit, that was certainly impressive.

He also spotted the highly skilled lady from White Star, ricocheting ‘UP’ buildings!? How was she doing that? He had to remember to enter all this in his logs once they got back to base.

The recipe for disaster had been served and they only had 60 seconds to avoid ‘Hell breaking loose’.

Flying next to Blue he could clearly see how ‘wrecked’ the Bandana Hero looked, well, his clothes anyway. The sight didn’t distress Psion, he’d seen it far too often and Blue being a very spartan and humble guy would habitually refuse anything and everything with the exception of new hoodies and new jeans. The guy should really consider some body armor given his penchant for CQC.

Psion could tell that Blue just needed time to recover, but they were quickly running out of time.

“Let me help you…” He would say offering a hand for his team leader to grab onto.

“Please, please bring her back…” no more words were needed.

    [T-59 secs.]

    OOC: Time to juggle!

    Gemini IC:

    ~Utter Chaos in Union Square~

Thankfully, Zero-G listened well and got herself out of the area and quickly. That was one less person he had to worry about in the vicinity, problem was…he had asked her to fetch Blue and the others on her way out of there.

Well, will have to improvise then.

That was when the nearby car exploded, setting off alarms and shattering windows. Gemini, by instinct, raised a hand up to block his face though it was completely unnecessary given the suit. Looks like Mallen was back up and ready for the next round.

“Alright. Now I’m annoyed. You like taking pot-shots do ya?”

Yep. He was definitely ready for the next round. Gemini tensed, ready to do whatever he needed, when suddenly…he sensed another presence. And coming in fast.

Jarvis quickly detected, not only approaching bounty hunters on top of everything else, but the girl known to White Star as Aegis.

She was bounding toward them fast and getting faster. The very ground seemed to shake with every step she took, tears were streaming down her face, and she was making angry sounds as she barreled toward them; most likely involuntarily.

If he were to sum her up in a word right then, it’d be: Rage.

Great. Now I have a possible She-Hulk to contend with…

That was when the flame erupted, with Jarvis blaring his warning just barely in time as he dived to the side. He was still invisible, even after all this time, but the furrow in his brow was starting to get deeper. And it wasn’t just the tactical juggling he was now having to undergo, but the strain of keeping it up. Invisibility was one thing, extending it to the suit as well? It was tough.

He couldn’t do this much longer and he was trying to preserve the suit’s existence and his own person in secrecy as much as possible, at least where the public was concerned. Cameron knew he had to put this guy down and fast so the sentinels and HAMMER could deal with him instead when he got back up, as he also had to get Team Psion the hell out of there. NOW.

Here we go again, Gemini. Step by Step. And quickly.

    Step One.

Gemini launched himself at the middle of Mallen’s chest right as he was finishing up his flame breath, noted the results of the last attack, and dialed up his suit’s strength parameters to 61%. Then he let loose with a strong, jet-speed backed right punch. The psychotic aggressor was vulnerable in that instant and he planned to make the most of it. He needed that man down. And for longer than a few seconds.

    Step Two.

The instant he hopefully launched the villain of the scene away from him; he spun on his heel and grabbed a burning husk of a car just barely there and swung it up and over the charging Aegis, toward where the bounty hunters were. With Jarvis’ calculations, it should have landed exactly in front of them and been placed in such a position as to buy them a bit of time as they figured out how to get around it. Plus they don’t know who threw it, so the worry of any more attacks should make them pause even longer.

    Step Three.

And this one was flowed right into after step two. Aegis herself. The girl was nearly upon them, if probably a bit surprised by the suddenly flying car, so he had to act right then and hope to whatever powers there were that Mallen was not in a position to attack again already.

His jets fired a second time and he was off toward her, still invisible, veering just to her left and then coming in; he’d attempt to sweep her off her feet. Clutching firmly, but not painfully, he’d immediately speak to her.

Aegis!” That should catch her attention. If she wasn’t too lost in her anger or possibly worse, attacking him. If she was, well, then things would change again...

“Sorry for the surprise! I’m from White Star, we need to get you out of here!”

A headache, no, a migraine was starting to blossom in his head right then. The invisibility. It was getting real hard to upkeep now, but he had to hold on. Just for a while longer.

    Step Four.

Gemini flew her up just a little ways into the air and toward the other two members of her team as quickly (but safely for her) as he could, coming to a sudden stop just above them. He intended to yell at them to move…then saw the condition Blue was in. A grimace and a small groan from that growing headache.

    Suddenly improvised Step Five.

There was no time to ask if, who he presumed was Psion, could lift his partner. He had to trust in the suit’s strength. They. Had. To. Move.

“Grand Central Station. I’ve got him. NOW!”

If Aegis had calmed down, he’d let her go and switch to hold Blue while he recovered mid-flight. If not, he’d have them both over a shoulder each. If they cooperated.

From there, it was on to the station as quickly and directly as possible. That is…

…If Mallen wasn’t going to throw another wrench into his plans. Or anyone else.

Aegis, Blueline, Psion, Zero G & Gemini
Union Square, the state of disunion

Zero G managed to remove herself safely from the war zone, and watched from her high perch, even as she was ordered to head to Grand Central Station. But how could she just leave without witnessing what happened next?

As expected, Mallen did not stay down long at all, and once he was on his feet, he renewed his attack with a horrifyingly powerful breath of fire, worthy of an ancient Red Dragon. He certainly meant to incinerate them all.

Psion reacted by creating an earthen wall in their defense, but Blue was on the wrong side of the wall, fully exposed. Thanks to Jarvis' warning, Gemini managed to dive to one side. Aegis watched horrified as her teammate was horribly burned in the process.

A pitch black swath of earth lay before them after the fact. The grass was completely gone and only heated blackened rocks remained; surrounding trees caught on fire, and Psion’s earthen wall was completely consumed, but it had kept the damage from becoming far worse.

It was a wonder that Blue was even still alive and hadn’t been completely consumed as well, but he was in a really bad shape, even for someone with his extraordinary regeneration ability.

By now, Aegis had succumbed to fear and rage, and the ‘Beast Within’ surfaced. She now charged at Mallen. Pain and Rage fueling her every step, cracking the stones beneath her feet as she went.

The still invisible Gemini launched himself at Mallen, his strength dialed-up to compensate for earlier, but Mallen angled his body and braced to cancel the impact of the Deputy Chief's tackle.

“I can almost see you now…” He announced with mirthful glee. “Still fuzzy, but I see you….” Mallen made a quick parrying motion to defend against Gemini’s powerful right punch. The impact sounded like a crack of thunder, but only caused the leering man to take a few steps back.

“Ah, ah, ah…” He would tease, amused by the fuzzy form as it moved on to throw a wrecked car.

"Missed...me..." he would say with some uncertainty.

Gemini was still in motion as he moved to ‘Step Two’, which left him very vulnerable to Mallen, who could now partially see him.

However, before Mallen could take a step and exploit his advantage, he barely felt something stick him in the back, something pointed, which was immediately followed by what sounded like an RPG being fired. The sudden explosion caught the powerful meta by surprise, which caused him to take a step forward to keep himself from falling. A powerful electrical jolt was delivered via a cable that was now attached to his back. Mallen barely felt either.

“You RUINED my jacket!!” He would shout as he turned his head to look over his shoulder. A second set of Bounty Hunters managed to pump themselves up to ‘take him down’. The fact that their opening salvo had no effect would give them great pause. Mallen reached behind his back and pulled off the attacked cable. A High Voltage Taser? He observed, then huffed. It was both funny and insulting.

In that moment, the man seemed distracted, or perhaps he was simply waiting for the bounding girl to reach him.

Both Jarvis and Doc would announce that a minute had passed.

The NYPD was already in the process of barricading the entire area, while HAMMER vehicles had their armed squads filing out of them. Recon drones would be coming into the park in seconds and Sentinels would arrive moments after.

Would Casey listen to her friend, would she heed the a voice of reason and allow herself to be carried to safety, or would she head straight for Mallen and possibly end up collared and being sent to Hudson Yards Detention Camp, the very place she learned about this very morning.

Only Casey knew the answer to that.

IC Daken, Moonstone, Taskmaster, and Stryfe
    Meetings, H.A.M.M.E.R. HQ

“So….” Moonstone started in a light tone. “Tell us, what do you remember?”

Daken grinned openly at the display. Ignoring Moonstone’s question for a moment, nodding to them all, then snagging one of the bottles from the bar. Flopping into one of the chairs, leg hanging over the arm on one side, one claw snicked out, slicing the top of the bottle off cleanly. Lifting it to his lips, drinking deeply, he thought about the question.

Lowering the bottle he grinned again, ”Well beautiful, this isn’t my world, or ours, guessing from the tone of your question.”

Taking another swig he pointed the cut off end at both Moonstone and Taskmaster, ”My guess is you and you both found yourself in an entirely new world, new situation and have run with it. Your memories of the true world are fuzzy and tend to make your head hurt if you try to remember them. Same here.”

Sitting up, his boots hit the floor with a thud as he leaned forward, ”I know for one damned fact I wasn’t in a rundown SHIELD base yesterday, following a Bounty Hunter, and accidentally keeping him from killing a pair of brats. I was on a mission, working with you both, in a fully functioning secure facility. And then I found that Hunter hanging from my claws in the place of a Mandroid.”

Sitting back, he took another swig, ”So how much did I guess right? What the hell happened and threw us into this world full of targets?”

"Whatever it is, it's still happening." Moonstone replied. Daken would be able to tell she was just about to answer his original question, but something else usurped her focus. He would not miss the slight nod she gave him, however.

"Washington is on the line, asking for an update on the situation in New York. We seem to have lost two Sentinels and six Claws so far...and the day is not over."

Moonstone looked to Daken, who was technically responsible for the loss of three assets, to Taskmaster, then to Lord Stryfe, who looked none too pleased.

"Well, Force Commander...?" Stryfe huffed with cold impatience.

"The Intel is still being compiled, Lord Stryfe." Moonstone swung her chair to face the glass wall as she brought up a view screen.

"We already know about the three Claws lost in the Jersey Wilds. Now, it seems we lost a Sentinel here, over the Hudson River, and here on Triskelion itself, where the other three Claws were also lost. Our Security Surveillance Team is 'cleaning-up' the data. They reportedly had some unexpected 'interference'. I'm told the tech department has already mobilized salvage teams, sir - A forensic team has also been dispatched."

"Really? Anything else?" Stryfe asked, not disguising his annoyance.

Moonstone scrolled the feed via her chair's armrest.

"Some minor skirmishes, standard fare for what I can see. Nothing Taskmaster-trained HAMMER units cannot handle."

"Let us hope so, for their sakes."

"I just trained them. Not here to hold their hand." Taskmaster countered.

Lord Stryfe's gaze wandered to the man in the skull-mask, but made no comment.

Something on the screen seemed to have caught Moonstone's eye, so Taskmaster was left to break the silence.

"So, the Claws; gave you a good fight did they?"

Daken chuckled as he heard the reports of missing or lost assets, especially the three Claws in the Jersey Wilds. The other issues were troubling, it seemed the replacement for SHIELD in this world was able to keep up and destroy strong assets such as Sentinels as they did in the real world. He took another swig from the bottle as he listened to the conversation between the three for a moment, filing away that Stryfe seemed in overall command but still deferred to the other two in combat or training related operations, a simple way to keep underlings on task, do the job correctly or be removed.

Of course Taskmaster, who it did seem was like the one from the real world, wasn’t one who tended to remain an underling, preferring to be in command as he had on the operation….

He shook his head again as his mind fuzzed over for a moment, these times were becoming annoying. He heard Taskmaster’s question and chuckled once more, finishing the bottle and standing to grab a second as he considered it.

”If that’s the best you can get out of clones of dear old Dad then you’re wasting the resource you have. I’m guessing those headsets were some sort of control set because if Dad or I were that feral we’d be rampaging berserkers otherwise. But it also impairs their combat efficiency. They didn’t fight as well as I’d expected, decently but I’m guessing their controllers were a bit too, hmmmmm, hands on, in the fight.”

Taskmaster chuckled at Daken’s observation, then gave him a slight nod.

“Smart people, really.” He observed with no lack of sarcasm. “Those assets…you wouldn’t want them off of their leash all of a sudden now, would you?”

There was something being said without it being said, but Moonstone smoothly came back into the conversation.

“There’s a security alert in progress down in Union Square, a public disturbance caused by metahuman criminal activity. I know, that’s not really news, but coincidentally enough, surveillance in that area is acting spotty. Not to worry, I’ll be having a stimulating chat with our Tech Admins. Mind you, I’m pulling this image from social media, the gift that keeps on giving.”

“It appears, the late Dr.Killian’s ‘Test Subject’ is causing a commotion downtown.”

Moonstone allowed herself a small chuckle of amusement.

“A great deal is riding on Mallen’s infiltration Op. Force Commander, I’m afraid I don’t quite share your enthusiastic appraisal.”

Stryfe had activated a smaller holo-screen by his desk in order to have a better look of the latest Intel. Of course, the stream ended with the meta’s electrical pulse.

“He can’t just walk in, he has to make it look convincing, remember?”

“Hmph. We shall see.” Stryfe said, remaining unconvinced, himself.

“Indeed, that we shall. However, another idea comes to mind.”

Almost teasingly, Moonstone swiveled her chair back to face Daken, and looked directly at him with mischief in her eyes.

“Daken, how good are you at tracking? I’m asking for a friend.”

Then there it was, that playful smile.

Daken smiled back at her, promise and playfulness matching hers. And then it turned a little impish, ”How good are you at seducing superheroes to acquire their power, beautiful?”

He looked at the other two, letting his nostrils flare, there was a taste of battle, of cordite and sweat, that hung around Taskmaster and an iron scent that was elusive that hung around Stryfe, otherwise the Cable clone had no scent.

Nodding, the smile still on his face and his eyes glittering, pointing first at Stryfe, ”Mr Shiny could probably hide well from me but he has a scent I know.” Pointing to Taskmaster, ”He tends to keep himself as hidden as possible so that would be a task indeed.” A final point at Moonstone, ”You, my dear, I could find even if you hid yourself on the dark side of the Moon.”

Sitting up, taking one last swig of the almost empty second bottle, ”Put me close enough to the one you want tracked and you’ll have their location until I’m either told to take them down or they are picked up by your people.” He grinned and finished the bottle, lazily tossing it in the direction of the rolling bar, ”Time to play and seriously unnerve some wannabe hero.” A belch, whisky and tequila fumes filling the room, his claws extended and retracted quickly, then he grinned. ”Of course keep your little toys away until you’re ready to take the target, they’re too loud, even when they’re trying to be silent.”

    Greenwich village, Downtown NYC

It was no surprise that the streets would be crowded, for this was normal ins big city such as this one. A city were news traveled fast. SGC did not have to go to far to find a group of people huddled together. Actually, there were many groups of people exhibiting this behavior. Many more gathered before the screen in front of the convenience store across the street. Was this not the same place they had rescued winged man not mere minutes earlier? Yet everything seemed so different now, and not merely his own appearance.

A group of young men that were walking distractedly bumped into ‘him/her’.

    “Oh, sorry ‘bout that….”

He was shocked and a little bit lost for words at the situation, instead simply watching in mild curiosity.

Stepping closer he watched to see what would happen.

“Here, take a look. It’s crazy!”

After a beat he added: "Uhm...so, what's your name?"

Bending forward to get a better view he brushed back a curl of her hair and absently nodded. "SC- Seira." she responded with a blush as she pointed to the screen. "What do you think will happen?"

"No one can ever tell me that shopping at Marshall's, TJ Maxx, or Target means you can't look good."

And damn did he look good. His afro was still damp and the shrinkage was real, but the tracksuit he had picked out didn't look to bad as he stopped to examine how he looked outside the department store window.

The shoes were cheap. Typical of department stores. He grinned before he remembered what the entire **** had just happened and was currently going on. Monin pulled out his phone hurriedly, ignored the call from his parents, and got on instagram. His parents were probably calling because they saw all the chaos that was going on in New York. And boy was there chaos. He looked at the trending #NewYorkCity hashtags.

    "Alright... Newyorkcitylife...newyorkcityfeelings...newyorkcityskyline..."

Too general. He narrowed it down to #UnionSquare and after scrolling through various pictures of food and foodies and flowers, he caught a glimpse of a video of a man being smashed into a car. "What the hell...Holy crap." Some of the major news networks were covering it as well, as CNN alerts started to beep down from his phone. He had to get to Union Square...but what about Liz...Crap. He had no idea where she was. Christ, this whole day was going to hell in a Marshall shopping bag.

He dialed Liz's number and started looking for the nearest taxi. If he could even find one in the current chaos erupting over the city, of which, him fighting a giant sentinel and destroying it above the Hudson (though he quietly thought that that was an awesome highlight of the day)had no doubt contributed to.

“Take ‘im.” The woman said as Michael let out a sigh.

Immediately the three young men that were flanking Michael went into action.

The first went for a reverse sweep, looking to knock him off his feet, or at least unbalance him, water splashing up in an arc as he made the motion.

The second launched a powerful kick to his midsection, clearly looking to kick the wind out of his sails, while the third went to grab his right arm, to both keep him from using it and hold him in place so the other two attacks could succeed. Michael noted all these moves, moving quickly to counter them.

In an instant, Michael launched a fist at the third's chest, the force likely breaking his ribs and knocking him backwards. The second managed to land their foot on Michael's chest, but instead of winding him only managed to gain his attention, resulting in Michael seizing his leg, snapping it clean in two and leaving him to suffer.

The first's sweep was dodged by Michael, as he retaliated by launching a kick at the first, taking him out in an instant. The counter was completely reckless, and likely to attract unnecessary attention.

Idiot. Michael thought to himself. You're meant to be in hiding.

Michael turned to the woman, a snarl on his face, raising his hand and motioning her forward, daring her to attack him. He was impressed by the coordination of the attack, but they had made the mistake of assuming he was a typical human.

IC: Blue, Aegis, Gemini and Psion
Big Trouble in Union Square, retreat

    Blueline & Casey

Aegis fought and struggled against the now invisible hands that tried to restrain her. Her fear skyrocketed, her hands searching for the arms that kept her bound. She might not be able to see them but she could feel them. The voice wasn't the one she wanted the hear, not the one she needed to hear. Gemini's words fell on deaf ears, almost literally, as the girl in his arms could only hear the beating of her own heart. Her strength was increasing with each passing moment she wasn't in control, each second someone else was controlling her. Throwing her head back kicking her feet, trying to slam her elbows into the phantom behind her, she did everything her mind could think of to escape.

Blue getting a lift from Psion looked with wide eyes as Casey fought against whatever was holding her.

"We need to set down somewhere now." He said weakly to Psion. "If we don't I don't know if I can bring her back."

"I'll place you in front of her, where she can plainly see you and hear your voice."
Psion easily guided Blue's form and set him before the struggling pair while he remained a ways off ready to effect an emergency exit.

The timer had turned red, they were on overtime and the longer they remained the more dangerous the situation became.
Sensing the bounty hunters and their weapons, Psion prepared himself to counter any hostile moves against them.

"Hurry, they're getting closer and she's getting angrier..." there was some anxiety in his voice.

"Doc, request White Star to patch me with Gemini, we can't leave anything to chance."

He could 'feel' Casey's racing heart rate, she was enraged but not out of control yet and THAT he did not want to see. Likewise he'd feel it normalize if Blue's presence had the calming effect only a loving friend can bring to a troubled heart, all he could do was hope.

'No one will get captured, NOT today!' He swore to himself, looking on as he felt the walls closing in.

It took less than two second for it to happen.

[Lane: Team Psion, Gemini, you have direct encrypted com-link.]

The sense of relief was understandably overshadowed by the sense of urgency, but there was a better chance for all of them to escape relatively unscathed if they worked together.

"Agent Gemini, this is Psion, I have a read on Aegi's heart rate, could you release her if Blue starts to calm her down, to minimize her agitation. I can air lift us and follow your lead, do you copy?" He spoke fast but clear, things needed to happen NOW.

Gemini was already having trouble with Aegis. That much was clear for anyone watching, even if they only mainly saw her. This wasn’t working and it was the worst possible timing for something like this.

His migraine began to pound all the harder and he gritted his teeth. Her blows were gradually starting to hit harder and harder. Inwardly, he had to thank the suit’s greatly enhanced endurance or it might have been ugly.

The words being given to him, had him exasperated though he understood why. If the urgency wasn’t so absolutely immediate, there’d be no problem whatsoever with doing this. Now, he had to quickly come to a decision about how he really felt about it.

Thankful for the quick thinking to establish a direct link, he used it to reply very quickly. In a rush even.

“We have two sentinels incoming! You have exactly ten seconds or I’ll be forced to knock her unconscious.”

There was simply no more time than that he could give, and honestly, that was a bit more than he was comfortable with as it was! He hoped it worked because he really didn’t want to hurt the poor girl at all, but in the end, this was life or death and he would do what he had to do to make sure they all lived.

They were lucky Mallen was preoccupied as it was, because he could be on them in seconds as well.

"Understood." Psion replied his tone neutral.

Psion reasoned that agent Gemini was with White Star and White Star was basically good guys that were in essence military and used military methods; they were interested in results.

He really didn't like the idea of Casey getting 'knocked unconscious' by anyone else unless it involved something like knockout gas or some other method that did not require physical trauma.

'Ten seconds.' He had already started to work.

Holding Blue at eye level with Aegis, Psion would create the 'cloud' around them ( including Gemini), the air would be pressurized to provide stability and protection during flight, outside sounds would be reduced and greatly muffled to those within the 'cloud' effect.

Thus surrounded, Casey hopefully should see and hear only Blue, who's voice would be heard clearly when he spoke.
Psion thought about repairing Blue's clothes but put off the idea for a moment, a better opportunity for it may present itself, so he listened intently at what the Bandana hero may be saying.

"May I suggest a vertical take-off for the ten seconds,I've obscured us from view and will follow your flight path." He announced through the commlink.

"C'mon Blue, she needs you...we need you." he whispered into the quiet space.

He wanted to put as much distance between them and the bedlam unfolding at the park and hopefully agent Gemini would trust Psion to keep up with him and his mechsuit.

Taking a deep breath, the dark clad young hero labored to empty himself of anxiety.

With hopes and fears at an all time high, Psion's silver eyes glowed, his power responding to his needs, should anything or anyone decide to bar their way.

With another breath, he acknowledge the warning the 'Universe' was giving him. Seeing Casey as she was he sighed, reminding himself that he also needed to remain reasonable and calm at all times, lest he became a danger, like the supercharged meta, or hunted or worse.

Casey was released and her fear was still running wild swinging her arms blindly at the person that was once holding her. Her eyes swept the area, she didn't see him, the man that took Blue away from her. That did little to calm her, she was still in an unfamiliar place, a place she didn't want to be. Her right fist flew in a wide arc that may have hit Gemini though it was very telegraphed.

Blue wasn't in on the conversation so he didn't hear the other option if this failed. He would of had many, many things to say but there wasn't time. Casey was looking around striking at the wind looking for something anything to hit. She looked lost, deep in despair and seeing no way out. There was a tension in the air this had to work.

Running up to her she heard his footsteps she turned, her fist balled up and striking out in a wide arc. It caught Blue in the side cracking a few ribs. Taking a breath he wrapped his arms around her pulling her close, to lessen the impact of her strikes, and remind her that he was here.

"It's alright Casey." He whispered into her ear.

Arms wrapped around her, her panicked mind tried to lash out a few short punches into his chest. The arms pulled her in. She heard his voice, could feel his chest rising and falling with even breaths. Even after everything that had happened his heart was still beating with a steady pace.

"I'm here..." His arms held her tighter. It felt familiar, comforting her eyes were still wide but her breathing slowed a little. "Is alright." He said again, hoping to reach her. Finally her eyes blinked, and she nearly collapsed into Blue.

"You're still alive?" She asked exhausted as her transformation took a toll on her.

"It takes a lot to put me down."

Within Gemini's helmet, Jarvis relayed a private message.

[Sir, internal sensors show your are experiencing a great deal of neurological stress to your system, resulting in increase pain responses targeting your trigeminal nerve, cerebral cortex, thalamus and brain stem. I have no onboard countermeasure to relive your Neuro-Cephalic Distress. Please advise as to probable cause. Continued stress levels will impair your piloting efficiency.]

Gemini kept pace with the sudden cloud being formed around them, not questioning its appearance. Clearly something created by Psion. An interesting person to be sure with a power that was not to be underestimated.

He rocked briefly from the strike from Aegis, even though he managed to block the hit, the girl's strength was definitely prodigious and he could feel it. But that wasn't surprising given everything going on. Still, his words stood whether they liked it or not. In the end, it was for all of their benefits.

    10 seconds.

From what he could tell, Blue's words were working and she was relaxing. Good! He really hadn't wanted to revert to the other option.

"Lets get moving, we need to get to safety."

He listened to Jarvis' message and Cameron could only sigh a little, opting not to reply. He was stressed, whatever could be going on to cause that? Well, if they got to the designated safe zone, he'd start feeling a lot better.

"Where are we going?" Casey asked still looking around, just a little confused as to what was going on.

"I'll explain on the way, but we need to go." The pair move to hold on to Psion, given that he was only one that was visible.

"I hurt you again didn't I?" Casey asked looking away.

"Nah, I'm good." Blue said thanking that his healing factor didn't let bruises hang around.

Looking about himself, Gemini realized he couldn't hold out much longer and decided to trust the cloud being formed around them.

Dropping his invisibility at last, though still protected from the view of others outside, he held out his hand. Hopefully it wasn't too startling an appearance.

"I can take one of you, if you wish. Make the trip easier. But either way, we really need to go, so choose fast."

"Go with Psion." Blue instructed Casey she'd likely feel more comfortable with a friend. Blue would go up with the stranger. Didn't want her to turn again.

"Ok," Casey moved with urgency, the same Blue showed. She was still confused, bewildered that the ghost that once tried to carry her away was now visible. There wasn't time to marvel they had to go.

The Bandana hero readied himself to take off again, still an odd sensation, a strange one. He was about to question Zephyr about it but, they didn't have time for anything at the moment they had to leave before anymore trouble showed up.

Somewhere close by, two crows attacked one of the recon drones that was moving-in to investigate the strange low flying cloud formation. But to no avail. Whatever mayhem was unfolding in the park, was visually shut-out, and all sounds diffused by Psion's cloud and by increasing distance.

Upon hearing Gemini, Jarvis chimed in once again.

[Jarvis: If I may suggest sir; Here's a direct aerial route to Bryant Park. The outdoor restaurant and promenade are presently under re-construction and can provide sufficient cover. That will leave you two blocks from Grand Central Station, which would facilitate entry.]

At least, the group was on the move now.

Nodding to the relayed information, while holding Blue, he turned his head to look at Psion and Aegis.

"I'll stay in the cloud, but follow my lead. I know a direct route that'll see us safely to where we need to go."

From there, he did just as he said, leading them to where Jarvis indicated. He was more silent than usual on the flight over, the residual feeling of his migraine making itself known. Another battle to be waged in a sense. Gemini planned on speaking more easily and casually with the group, but not until safety was assured.

" Roger that. We'll match your speed and trajectory sir."

This time the neutrality in his voice was almost betrayed by a hint of cheerfulness.
Things had gotten really tense and almost took a turn for the worst.
But Psion loved his teammates with a true and enduring friendship and seeing them safe at the end of a mission was a blessing. Not only that but the invisible 'mechsuit' just happened to be none other than THE War Machine! This was one of the good guys and they just worked together....well, sort of.

Needless to say he was a bit starstruck to be in the company of a bona fide hero.

'Two in one day...' he smiled to himself, it was a good feeling.

Psion glanced over to check on his friends; Blue was looking healthy as ever, at least physically, his healing ability was a wonderful thing to behold. However the ruined clothes more seemed to match his mood by the look of his furrowed brow.

"I'm sure we'll be meeting others when we arrive." was all that Psion said as he repaired the burnt and tattered clothes, more like rags that hung off his team leader's body.

He did the same for Aegis if she did split seams or tear her garments during her transformation.

There was much to discuss in the coming hours. Psion had grave misgivings about the Supercharged villain and he wanted to give voice to those thoughts.

He wasn't sure what was going through Blue's thoughts or Aegis' heart, but there was a strangeness that probably needed to be aired out in some near-future conversation. But for the moment, he'd hold on to the feeling of accomplishment. A successful escort and a narrow escape from the clutches of evil was a lot to process. Was this an average day for the Avengers? He wondered with real curiosity as the group readied to reach their final destination.

The cloud concealing the group took about three minutes to reach Bryant Park, which was 1.6 miles north east of Union Square. Indeed, the outdoor cafe and promenade were closed for reconstruction. The high concealing boards, scaffolding, as well as OFF-LIMITS warning posters provided more than ample cover for the group. With their clothes repaired by Psion, the three young metas would be able to seamlessly merge with the midtown crowd. A fuzzy memory of passing through the general area during some kind of festivity would momentarily surface to Blue, Aegis and Psion, then fade before it even forms. Agent Lane would direct Team Psion as well as Zero G to a meeting spot where a female agent acting as contact would pick up the four of them.

Gemini would watch them leave and remain for a moment, then part ways. He would once again call on his ability to render himself invisible before flying off unseen.

Inside Grand Central Station, Team Psion, Zero G and their escort would be indistinguishable from the throng of people gathered within the eternally busy station. Their escort was a friendly looking girl with dark hair, who had an easy and casual energy about her, but was a focused on her task. She had all the right keycards and quickly entered all the right codes for every junction. Getting past certain security check-points was not an issue, nor entering a security door with a clear sign saying: DO NOT ENTER.

Going beyond that door brought the team to an entirely new experience.

It was good that Shelly trusted her instincts, her gut. She wouldn’t have survived this long if she had not.

Going to the park was a sound decision, for she had the right of it. There were no cameras and no one else was there, especially not with the curfew. Well, at least no one who didn’t have a plan to get away should they get discovered.

For the moment, Shelly was alone- as there was no one insight. A single lamp post which stood nearby was her only companion. After a moment, everything grew very still and the air itself seemed to shudder with a chill. The lamp post grew dimmer, then dimmer still, but the light did not go out altogether.

    Not yet.

“What do you want?” Shelly growled into the darkness, as she once again felt a presence, that she was being watched.

There was a pause and the silence seemed to stretch before a voice answered. It seemed to be coming from far away, sounding like several voices in one.

“I want…out.” It declared simply. “Will you….help me?”

    Tenzin
    Mystic Masters Sanctum, New York

Tenzin breathed a small sigh, pleased in part, that at least there was hope for some relevant information his pupil and their guest would soon acquire. That much they could manage for certain.

Now it was his turn to seek the wisdom of an Elder.

Dutifully, the young monk took the stairs to the upper level of the Sanctum and sought the meditation circle. Once there, he sat himself cross legged and placed himself in lotus position. Eyes closed, arms down, shoulders relaxed, hands atop knees, spine straight, mind clear. Tenzin took a few centering breaths and softly spoke the necessary incantation.

Last he heard, the Abbot intended to visit the London Sanctum before heading to Kamar-Taj, but on second thought, he couldn’t quite recall what did happen after that…why was it all so fuzzy.

Tenzin cleared his mind of such thoughts, for they would disrupt his attempts to communicate at such a great distance and simply focused his mind to be clear and resilient to the task at hand.

    Isla Carson
    Mystic Masters Sanctum, London

The weather report had called for an overcast day, but once again, intermittent rain had made itself a reality again. Forecasting the weather would never become an exact science, no matter how much meteorologists insisted on their so call ‘accuracy’.

Of course, the rain was nothing new and was never a deterrent to Mrs. Pritheede, the sanctum’s housekeeper and cook. The stocky woman was always smiling and full of joy, sharing her brand of ‘medicine’ with everyone she came in contact with. Today she was just outside the doors, with her wonderfully bake goods, handing them out free to children or whomever wished for them. It was her own way to bring a little happiness, a little light into a world in sore need of both.

Dweomer was a giant of a man. A mute since birth. He was bald, save for his greying short beard and acquiline features and dusky blue eyes. He was both strong and gentle and incredibly intelligent and insightful. He was the sanctum’s ever present Handy man.

Just like Isla, the two came to have a new life thanks to the Mystic Masters. Mrs Pritheede had been accused of being a ‘witch’ when in fact she was unable to control of latent low level telekinesis, as she was a very, very late bloomer. Her trip to Kathmandu helped her avoid being sent to a Metahuman Containment Camp. Likewise for Dweomer, a very low level telepath, who thought he was hearing voices and could in fact project his own thoughts. He was believed to have some personality disorder, when the truth was far different.

Isla, who surprised all the Masters at Kamar-Taj with her great empathy and adept usage of her abilities, was given the responsibility to oversee the London Sanctum, which was a great honor, except for a not so small detail. Since the Latverian Cataclysm, where nearly all heroes were defeated by Doom and his forces, followed by his New World Order, which oppresses all living meta humans, there has been no one to recruit and no one to help - at least not in an outward manner.

Fear of the camps, of being collard or forcibly registered has kept all meta humans in line. Well, at least the good ones.

There would always be trouble in the world, but the order had decided to keep a low profile, for Doom had defeated the Sorcerer Supreme himself. What hope had they against his overwhelming might?

{{ Mistress Isla}} Dweomer’s telepathic call gently intruded on Isla’s reflections, in the same manner that calling her name aloud would.

    {{I think someone is trying to reach the sanctum. Up here, at the Circle of meditation.}}

Dweomer had been moving certain decorations and pieces of furniture at Mrs Pritheede’s request. Being inherently sensitive to mental communication, he perceived the sending and could see the translucent form of the monk seated in lotus position, garbed as a young mystic master, reaching out to any who would respond.

    Michael Knight
    Electric Avenue, London, U.K

The rain poured as the three young men that so brazenly attacked Michael were on the floor moaning in very real pain. They’re sure going to need medical attention.

The woman was in a rage, screaming all kinds of expletives at Michael, while Enjol looked sad and troubled and was repeating the same word over an over. “Nooo, Nooo.”

The boy which seemed to be made of alabaster stayed low and moved to the injured man closest to him. The one with the broken leg.

“You Filthy Piece!! I’ma enjoy tearin’ you UP!!” The woman kept screaming.

Enjol placed his white hands on the man’s broken leg and closed his eyes, ignoring the rain and all the screaming the woman was doing.

In a swift and practiced motion, the woman tossed a pill in her mouth and swallowed it. She grinned maliciously at Michael and staggered back. At first it look as if she would wretch, but then her whole body bulged and grew. Another spasm, and she grew some more, but not only that, her form was changing as well, her clothes ripping in the process. A feral and guttural sound erupted from her thorax, but it could hardly be said to be the sound of her voice.

Enjol ignored it all and kept his hands pressed on the man’s leg. It was looking a little better.

Standing in front of Michael was not a woman any longer, but something else altogether.

The deep base and guttural sound could hardly be described as speech, but the gleaming intent in the eyes was there, as well as the razor sharp teeth and the talons in her hands, and the scales that served as protective armor.

“LEHHHSSSS GOOOOUUU!!!” It roared, even as it charged at Michael, razor sharp talons at the end of powerful arms, swinging to rend his flesh.

Aegis, Blueline, Psion, Zero G & Agent 77
    Under Grand Central Station

“Act casual.” Was all their lead had to say to the small group as they went down several flights of stairs in a barely lit stairwell, before taking an elevator several more flights down. The muffled sound of music was becoming clearer and stronger as the elevator slowed. Zephyr would be keen to notice Doc reconnecting several times as he navigated connecting networks.

Once the elevator settled, the doors opened.

Immediately a plethora of rich sounds and sights would flood their senses. The place was crowded and alive, with music and food, booths and entertainment. It was like Time Square, but underground- yet nothing like Time Square at all. No one payed attention as they stepped out of the elevator, except for the two ‘Hulking’ guards , both at least seven feet tall, completely covered in what looked like a marriage between medieval and futuristic armor. They had gigantic double handed and double bladed War Axes strapped to their backs as well as fully automatic combat rifles.

The two looked at the group for snap-shot moment, then turned away.

The agent smiled and waved, beckoning the group to follow.

“Welcome to Undercity.” She managed so say, barely above the ambient noise.

Their route did not take them deeper into the crowded area, as they remained on what must be the outskirts. Many strange and wondrous sights would capture their eyes. Four armed street performers, individuals with leathery wings, as well as patrons dressed in fascinating period clothes- among so many other curiosities- even some to make them blush.

“That’s the common area.” She would add.

The group did not stay overlong as they made right somewhere, which brought then to a nondescript corridor, then several more turns were made before coming to a large, equally nondescript double door. The ceiling camera was evident as was the keypad. The bio scanning panels at either side of them were hidden.

“I’m called Abakis , by the way. Welcome to White Star.” the agent informed as she entered the proper code on the keypad with casual, yet incredible speed. Next to the keypad, a palm reader slid open into view and she dutifully placed her hand upon it.

“Voice print; Abakis. I come bearing gifts.”

The agent looked back with a smile as a several clicks and a buzz were heard.

[“Welcome back Abakis.”] An officious voice spoke up through a speaker, quite likely someone in their security detail who was watching via camera.

The doors parted and Abakis lead the group inside. It was a well lit environment and quite pleasant, if not a little busy, even for a reception area. Everyone moved with a sense of urgency, yet respectful of the foot traffic.

“I am sorry I had to bring you from that direction. A less scenic route would be standard procedure, but plans change situationally.” She half-explained.

The agent brought the group to a cluster of sofas and gestured for them to get comfortable.

“Please make yourselves comfortable and wait here.”

Turning, Abakis waved down a passing agent.

77!!” She called out and waited for the agent to approach.

“These are, Aegis, Blueline and Psion who are allies and this is Agent Zero G - they’ve all just comeback from a joint Op. Please hold position here while I inform the debriefing officer that they are here. Thank you.”

Abakis turned to the group, doing her best to do all her bits correctly. “This is Agent 77.”

There was a brief enough pause to catch her breath.

“Well, it was nice meeting you all. Your debrief officer should be here in a few minutes, ’till next time.”

With that, Abakis turned and proceeded down the hall past the reception area, leaving the group with Agent 77 and a few minutes to take it all in.

Unbeknownst to the group, Agent 77 was herself a recent addition to White Star who joined the underground freedom fighters, much like her SHIELD counterparts, who opposed Doom’s regime in any and every way they could.

    Blueline & Casey
    NYC

On the flight over Blue's clothes stitched themselves back together, another gift from Psion. It was handy having someone that can just make something out of nothing, can take a collection of rags and turn them back into a hoodie and a pair of jeans. The flight while not long did give him some time to think, and to wonder. How had things gone so wrong? For one thing the man they were facing was more powerful than they realized, and two, they didn't have time to try and handle things. They no longer had the luxury of just throwing themselves at a problem until it went away. He also noted that Casey seemed to turn when he was under threat, or at least thought burnt to a crisp. While he needed to learn to wait before jumping in, she needed to learn the same, to look and see if he was hurt. There was a lot to be done, this felt like a new world they had stepped into, yet it was so familiar.

Casey's clothes were unaffected, though her shoes were a little scuffed from her explosive first step. Her transformation wasn't external, it was internal. Her fear ran wild and all she could see was danger. Her mind becomes simplistic, Find, Save, Hurt, those were the thoughts that ran through it. The world around her fell away until there was only the things she cared about, her friends, and the thing that threatened them. As she held on to Psion she did spare a look over to Blue, still stoically looking off into the distance. She was lost in her own mind trying to piece herself back together after another breakdown. It was easy to know why she lost control, why the monster got out. She thought she lost Blue, the fire consumed everything and Blue was in that zone. It didn't matter that Blue could likely come back from it, or that he always seemed to have luck on his side.

She just didn't have control of when it happened.

They land outside of Grand Central and the pair of heroes fade into the crowd. Not that anyone really looks at the people beside them. Blue could have still been in his rags and not a soul would have paid him any mind. They enter the space, and Casey can't help but look around at the storied station. Looking up and seeing the night sky painted above her. It was so unlike the small town she grew up in. There weren't any subways, other than the sandwich chains, near where she grew up. There weren't buildings like this, so grand and distinctive she almost got lost in the space.

Blue just kept his head down. It was nothing special, just a place he had to get through to get where he was going. Seeing Casey getting a little lost in the moment he gently took her hand guiding her through the space. She still looked up but did follow Blue's direction following behind their guide.

Slipping past a do not enter sign Blue kept quiet as they descended deeper and deeper. He could almost feel the weight of the city above him. In the packed elevator they heard a grumble, from Blue's stomach. He tried to play it off crossing his arms and acting like it didn't happen. Though Casey could see his hand shake just a little.

Stepping out into next room Casey's eyes went wide. There were so many people, and so many different people. It was amazing and slightly bewildering seeing so many different bodies in one place. Looking over the crowd Casey caught sight of a shirtless man with well defined musculature, and handsome face with two little horns sprouting from his forehead. Behind him leathery wings shifted a bit. She was lucky to be wearing a mask or the others would see the blush forming on her cheeks. Swallowing thickly she followed on behind Blue though she did spare a one more glance over her shoulder and the demon looking man.

Blue kept his head down trying not to be taken in by the smell of street food, of fried meats, and greasy vegetables. His hunger pains had gotten worse now that he was away from combat. Healing took a lot out of him but in the heat of the moment he never really noticed. It was only after the fight was done did his body not so gently remind him that he needed to eat. Gritting his teeth he powered through though he could feel himself getting light headed and his hands starting to shake.

All he could hope was that wherever they were going there was food. Though he did spare a look to one of the stalls providing noodles a young woman with a bandana holding back her hair handed a disposable bowl to a hulking customer. Her hand was covered in green scales, her long fingers ending in talons. The noodles looked so good, but he also remembered that he didn't have any money with which to purchase food. So on he went, almost dragging Casey with him.

They maneuver down a few side streets that were actually corridors. The noise of the common area faded away until it was silent again. Their guide brought them to a very, very secure door, one that took a while to open. Once it did they entered a slightly busy lobby with White Star Agents moving this way and that. When directed to sit Blue and Casey did, right next to each other Blue still holding her hand.

A new agent was brought in to wait with them Agent 77, Blue gave her a curt nod before turning to Casey.

"What are we getting into," He whispered to her, hoping no one else could hear him, "Debrief Agent. I didn't take this mission to get wrapped up in an agency."

"They just want to know we completed the mission."

"We're alive aren't we? That should be enough." Blue said shifting uncomfortably. This all felt wrong, he was just trying to help people, not become some agent. He was a hero, not a freedom fighter. "I don't like this."

Casey gave his hand a squeeze, trying to smile under her mask.

In the quiet Blue's stomach growled again.

    Isla Carson
    Mystic Masters Sanctum, London

    London

Busy, noisy, crowded, vibrant, non-stop, 24/7 London

Yet the Mystic Masters sanctum felt like an entirely different world from what lay beyond its front door. Quiet, peaceful, still. A safe space for those who required it. Isla Carson stood by a window on the third floor, watching the world outside go by, a mug of tea cradled in her hands. The streets outside were busy at this time of day as Isla's green eyes took in the ever changing scene below her. A walking tour passed along across the street, a group of eager tourists dressed in waterproofs coats, snapping photos on smartphones and cameras and being shepherded along by a preppy tour guide holding a company branded umbrella and brightly coloured flag. Bicycle couriers zipped along the roads, and businessmen in sharp suits strode along, cellphones at their ear and takeaway coffee's in their hands. Every so often, the distinct red buses that operated throughout London would pass by on the road.

Families and children passed below, some stopping just outside the sanctum door. A soft smile crossed the Sorceresses lips as her gaze fell onto the form of the sanctums cook and housekeeper, Mrs. Pritheede. The cheerful woman was just outside of the sanctum main door, handing out iced cupcakes and other assorted baked treats to passers by, much to the delight of the children. Mrs Pritheede loved to see the joy her delicious baking brought to others, and in the current climate, she was just happy to be able to spread even a little bit of happiness to the people of London. Isla had to admit, Mrs. Pritheede did make the best cupcakes.

Yes, the sanctum was quiet, peaceful and still, but sometimes it felt too quiet, too still. It used to be different, but then the Latverian Cataclysm happened. The Mystic Masters had answered the call to action, but so many of their number had been lost to Doom and his forces. The loss of so many sorcerers, and the Sorcerer Supreme himself had been a devastating blow to the order. It had been an honor indeed for Isla to be assigned to oversee the London Sanctum, but in the aftermath of Doom's actions, and the establishment of his New World Order, there was nobody to recruit and nobody to help. The fear that Doom had so deeply entrenched into Meta humans kept them in line, and The masters of the mystic arts had no choice but to keep a low profile.

So now the London sanctum housed three individuals. Isla, Mrs Pritheede, who found guidance and safety within the order after discovering she possessed the gift of latent low level telekinesis, and the sanctums ever present handy-man, Dweomer, a man who was mute since birth, but possessed low level telepathy, who thought he was hearing voices and could in fact project his own thoughts. He was the absolute definition of a gentle giant, strong and gentle and incredibly intelligent and insightful.

    {{Mistress Isla. I think someone is trying to reach the sanctum. Up here, at the Circle of meditation.}}

Dweomer's telepathic call found her mind, pulling her out of her reflections.

    {{"Thank you Dweomer, I'll be right up"}}

She responded mentally, turning away from the window and the sights of the busy London streets. Putting her tea mug away, She ascended the stairs of the quiet Sanctum, but not without feeling rising levels of curiosity. No-one had reached out to the sanctum in some time. She reached the room that was home to the buildings Circle of meditation. Entering the room, she gave a warm smile in greeting to Dweomer, who had been tasked to rearrange some furniture at the request of Mrs. Pritheede . The form of a young mystic master was present in the circle. She recognised the young man as Tenzin, of the New York sanctum.

"Ah, Master Tenzin" she addressed the translucent form of the young master genially, her accented voice echoing slightly within the space. She gave a small bow in greeting as she approached the circle of meditation and knelt down before Tenzin's translucent form, her back straight, resting her weight on her legs underneath her, placing her hands on her upper legs. "How nice to hear from you. How are things across the pond?"
