Aegis, Blueline, Psion, Zero G, Agent77
    Undercity, White Star Safe Zone

The cooks nodded and smiled as they watched the group eat and relax, enjoying their meal. They happily served ‘seconds’ to those who came to repeat their portions or try a new dish, either was welcomed and encouraged. They were visibly pleased that the meals they’d prepared were well received.

Indeed, the group was getting on well as everyone felt more at ease and allowed themselves to simple pleasures of interaction. Agent 77 was no exception.

Her mention of Peggy Carter, the legendary and celebrated Agent Carter of S.H.I.E.L.D, brought smiles to faces that were not present in the room, but looked in remotely.

Helena’s rumination would stir her to fuzzily ‘remember’ things about Genosha. How could she forget the way Latverian Forces marched on Genoshian soil and subjugated the independent Island Nation. They were not a part of the U.N. nor did they enjoy any such protections. They had resisted Doom’s directive and paid the price for their defiance. In less than a week, Genosha fell, and today, it still remains as Latveria’s only occupied territory on the eastern coast of Africa.

The Falling of Genosha immediately prompted The Kingdom of Wakanda to extend treaties and protections to all African Nations who would accept and wished to remain independent of Latveria’s Expansionist efforts. To this day, tensions between Latveria and Wakanda remain, as calls to free Genosha continue, but fall on deaf ears.

Indeed, how could she forget what is now common knowledge and quite frankly- forgettable.

The door to the room chimed as two individuals walked in. The first was a woman about Zara’s stature, wearing the standard White Star uniform. She was an attractive brown skin woman with a ready smile and a fierce gaze. Right behind her was a man, about Zephyr’s height, but instead of raven hair, his was blonde- complete with a handsome face to match. His blue eyes intimated cool collected intelligence. They both seemed to be in their mid to late twenties.

“Hello all, I’m Agent Niobe Delphine, but you may call me Delphi. I’m your debriefing officer.” The woman announced herself clearly and amicably, but with confidence and unmistakable authority.

“Greetings, I’m Advisor Erik Sethlan, just call me Erik. I’m Agent Lane’s Analytic’s assistant and second witness. Agent 77 will serve as first witness.”

“It’s not as bad as it sounds.” Niobe put in as the pair walked to the front of the room. She did offer a reassuring smile to the group.

Delphi moved like a feline creature, while Erik’s movements were precise. There was a nod from Agent Delphi and the cooks vacated the room in silence, dutifully closing the door behind them. Agent 77 was to remain where she was.

“Alright, I trust everyone is feeling comfortable to some degree. I’ll start by announcing that Agent Cross is in stable condition as he is in the hands of our capable medical team. I’d also like to congratulate Team Psion on behalf of White Star for their successful completion of that escort mission. Well done indeed. We are very grateful for your assistance and we’ll be happily rewarding you for your indispensable work.” Niobe informed.

Both Delphi and Erik shared a look before moving apart and giving the large screen ample room to be seen.

“This is an informal debriefing session, since you are our allies.” Delphi clarified. “Having said that, what can any of you tell us about the incident in Union Square park?”

Delphi regarded everyone seated at the table, with the exception of Agent 77. That being, Aegis, Blueline, Psion and Agent Zero G.

“Anyone can go first. There’s no rush.”

The large screen remained blank for the moment as the focus would initially be on whomever volunteered to speak first.

    Isla Carson
    Mystic Masters Sanctum, London

"I'm sorry Tenzin, but no one has come through the London Sanctum for weeks. Could it be that that your Abbot had decided to head straight for Kamar-Taj instead?"

The young Monk remained silent for a moment as he considered Master Isla’s words. Even if the Abbot did change plans for some reason, he would have informed Tenzin that he’d arrived in Kamar-Taj at the very least. Still, he had not contacted the Kathmandu monastery- simply because he had not considered it, much to his chagrin.

“That is indeed a possibility, Master Isla. I shall follow through with your suggestion.” Tenzin intoned agreeably, then punctuated with a nod.

Of course, Isla’s sling ring hadn’t a reason to react out of the ordinary, and the Sanctum had been still as it’s been for months.

"I've not experienced anything similar of which you described, never the less, this news is rather concerning" Isla paused for a beat, to collect her thoughts.

”All these strange occurrences... Do you think they are somehow connected?"

It was Tenzin’s turn to pause again.

Now he was doubting his own report, which caused some memories to seem fuzzier than they had been a moment before. Maybe whatever he’d experienced was some sort of localized effect? Did someone attack the New York Sanctum? He couldn’t exactly explain it, which was troubling- but something ‘did’ occur, of that much he was certain.

“I believe so.” He managed to answer before the pause became overly long. “I just can’t see it clearly at the moment, is all.”

“I’m just glad you haven’t been disturbed by whatever is it that I felt- which likely means the effect was probably local.”

Another nod and a half-smile were offered by Tenzin.

“I’ve sent my pupil to investigate things at ground level.” The monk’s half-smile grew slightly uneasy.

“I certainly hope he does better than I have thus far.”

    SGC/ Seira
    Greenwich village, Downtown NYC

Manny and his friends did not follow after Seira, not after seeing the man in armor move with measured steps in line to intercept the blonde bombshell. But, as she moved away from where the boys now stood, Seira would hear one of them utter the word ‘Bounty Hunter’.

Reaching the crowd gathered in front of the convenience store, most of the spectators were too absorbed by what was going on on the screen to notice her, though a few did, but mostly to regard her as a new arrival. Thankfully, the screen was positioned high enough that there was no obstruction.

Though the angle was far away, certain details on screen could still be appreciated. The man in the middle of the park was breathing fire, an earthen wall rose from the ground to block him, but there was someone in front of the wall. That person was directly hit by the gout of flame. The following sight was not for timid viewers. All the while, a group of armed Bounty Hunters were moving around while crouched, in an attempt to corral the rampaging metahuman.

“Where those young men bothering you?” Seira would hear a gruff male voice next to her suddenly inquire. A few of the spectators moved away, just to let the man pass or simply to give him his space. He ignored them. His face was serious and weathered, he was a middle aged man who had seen better days and likely a good deal of combat. He’d been straight forward in his question and seemed interested only in Seira’s welfare.

In contrast to Manny, none of the signs or behaviors associated with ‘courtship’ were readily apparent, which was probably a relief. His dark eyes did wander over to the viewing screen, if only for a moment.

    Daken & Moonstone
    H.A.M.M.E.R. HQ, NYC

The elevator ride was a short one, as expected. Moonstone brought Daken to the residential levels of the building and gingerly stepped out into the elevator lobby.

“Well, here we are.” She stated with a smile. No other souls were present save for the two of them.

“Everything you need should be in your room, keycard, I.D, uniform, you name it. The north side of this floor is your apartment, Mr. Elite Soldier.”

Of course, she gave him a mock salute with a chuckle for flavor.

“I suggest you take the rest of the day off, rest, relax, catch up with yourself, if you know what I mean.” That sentence ended with a playful wink.

“Ignore the fact that Reaper is on this same floor.” She intoned with a light shake of her head and an eye-roll. “Not my idea, just so you know.”

"He's presently out on assignment, so there's that. Oh, and your door lock is set to your retina scan."

Moonstone paused, trying to recall any other detail she may not be remembering.

    “So…yeah. Welcome back.”

This time, the smile she offered was genuine.

    Shelly VanKasser
    Alhambra, Arizona

Her eyes opened slowly after enjoying a restful sleep. When exactly had she fallen asleep? Was it during a cartoon or a nature show? It wasn’t easy to tell as it all blended together inside her sleepy head.

Her pillow and blanket were snuggled against her, filling her with comfort, yet a bright new day beckoned. It was good having no dreams to trouble one’s sleep - well, none that could be remembered.

Shelly would feel refreshed and thankfully quite recovered from the traumatic events from the day prior - it wasn’t everyday one got to see a Sentinel up close. She would still recall them, but just not feel so anxious or troubled over them.

Besides, she had the whole house to herself, and that didn’t happen very often.

As if to underscore that fact, the first message she got wasn’t from Marla, but from Tony.

[Good morning, just wondering if you still want to meet up with me and Colin?]

A fair question, especially for a girl with a brand new world to explore.

    Zara Chang
    Undercity, White Star Safe Zone

Zara was relieved when the interruption from the White Star agents came. Though not exactly the start of an argument, Blueline's direct contradiction to Psion's endorsement of White Star had kind of halted the conversation, and left her just a little uncomfortable with the tension between the two large personalities.

She was overjoyed to hear that Agent Cross would be well soon. She resolved to bring him a present as soon as she had a chance. Her emotions moved to curiosity about what the mission had really been about - what was so important that needed to be escorted so secretly and carefully?

Delphi and Erik asked for their reports. Zara naturally deferred to Psion as team leader - and also the one who had had the best "overview" of the whole event. She did not feel it her place to speak first.

Shelly stretched out, her favorite blanket and pillow snuggled close to her. She felt much better after that brush with the Sentinels. But with good friends and a great night's sleep, things felt better. Much better, actually. She got up, and threw some water on her face, trying to decide what to fill the day with She still had the house to herself, and that was a rare things indeed. But she still worked on keeping the place nice and clean, for when Mrs. Wesley came back.

As she was eating a quick snack, her phone beeped, letting her know she had received a message. She thought it might be Marla, so she quickly grabbed her phone. She quickly read the message.

[Good morning, just wondering if you still want to meet up with me and Colin?]

Shelly grinned from ear to ear. /HECK YA!/ she texted back to him, eager to meet with the pair again. /Just say when and where../ she added in the text.

With a happy jump, Shelly moved to change her clothing, and be prepared to meet the pair with whatever Tony would text her back with. She made sure whatever she wore hid that atrocious collar thing she wore. Well, as best as it could anyway.

She stuck with her dark clothing attire. She might have a need to join the shadows. With a grin, she finished getting dressed and checked her phone. She wondered what Tony and Colin had in store.

    SGC/ Seira
    Greenwich village, Downtown NYC

Manny and his friends did not follow after Seira, which SGC was fine with. They didn't really answer the questions they had asked. But, as she moved away from where the boys now stood, Seira would hear one of them utter the word ‘Bounty Hunter’. This person did not match what was remembered for that title before. An interesting tidbit of something that had changed, although how and why were dramatically prevalent questions.

Reaching the crowd gathered in front of the convenience store, most of the spectators were too absorbed by what was going on on the screen to notice her, though a few did, but mostly to regard her as a new arrival. Thankfully, the screen was positioned high enough that there was no obstruction. It also allowed 'her' to know if anyone was looking at her or the screen.

Though the angle was far away, certain details on screen could still be appreciated. The man in the middle of the park was breathing fire, an earthen wall rose from the ground to block him, but there was someone in front of the wall. That person was directly hit by the gout of flame. The following sight was not for timid viewers.

SGC looked on with a clinical eye, his shrouded form looking like she was biting her lip slightly as she took in the scene. All the while, a group of armed Bounty Hunters were moving around while crouched, in an attempt to corral the rampaging metahuman. Or at least that was what was being assumed based on the nearby similarly dressed individual being called one.

In contrast to Manny, none of the signs or behaviors associated with ‘courtship’ were readily apparent. Just as well, although some small part of SGC wondered if that would of made things easier. As the man only looked away from SGC for the briefest second.

"No, thank you." she stated with a side nod, her focusing split between him and the screen. "They seemed to be light in the head, but harmless." She stated as she looked at the screen again. "Perhaps you could help me. I am curious how you would think this will play out? To you I am sure it is a known ending, I do not get the time to see these things normally."

SGC tried to ignore the awkwardness of it all, of her shifting form that seemed to want to twist and pivot for no discernable reason. It was an odd and somewhat maddening situation as he kept worrying that something not biological would look at him a bit too closely and note the incongruous reactions of those around SGC to mark something truly wrong happening. After all SGC was here to have a normal life experience, not whatever this was.

Perhaps after this was done and the Master had communicated he could try to check in on Wundagor Mountain. Surely they would have insight to what has happened as well.

    "Oh, you have a student?"

Isla said, sounding heartened by the news. The order of mystics was not what it once was in terms of manpower. Doom's actions could have seen the extinction of the order itself, hence, the need for those who remained to stay beneath the radar, so to speak. But the news that at least one student was learning the teachings of Agamotto did instill some comfort to Isla. She regarded the young mystic for a moment, noting his half smile which grew uneasy. She could tell her fellow mystic carried doubts, and the self-deprecating words he spoke about himself further served to confirm this. Isla cleared her throat softly

"I'm sure he will find some of the answers that you seek. He has a good teacher" She finished with a genuine encouraging nod. "Doubt, uncertainty... these things hinder our quest for knowledge and answers, more often than not" She brushed a speck of unseen fluff from her robe sleeve before continuing

"It was a good idea to gain intel at Ground level, but I think we should inform the masters at both Hong Kong and Kamar-Taj about this strange interference. This Incident may be local to New York, but anything that can disturb the wards protecting the Sanctums needs reporting"

    Psion
    Undercity, White Star Safe Zone

A good meal seemed to always improve a persons mood and disposition, wether by filling a hungry tummy or satisfying a discerning palate; Psion leaned back in his chair savoring the last morsel of his meal and enjoying the moment as much as possible.

The lower portion of his face covering flowed and returned to its previous configuration, effectively concealing his face, but not before a small smile crossed his lips as he listened to Agent 77’s endorsement of White Star; it was hard to tell if she was a happy conscript or a volunteer to the cause.

But the mention of S.H.I.E.L.D and Peggy Carter seemed to produce that fuzzy brain freeze… When did S.H.I.E.L.D become White Star, what could have caused such a change?…it was all a blank.

There were other changes that were troubling as well. One memory that remained clear was Blue’s penchant for reticence and directness whenever he did say anything, but lately, it just felt like the fearless street hero had become more reckless and slightly contentious, almost as if he was even more unhappy than before…or carrying a greater weight on his shoulders.

‘I don’t know how Casey manages to be the balancing force in our team, we’re so lucky to have her…’ his visored countenance turned in the direction of his teammates in reaction to his thoughts, a wry smile played on his lips as he wrestled with feelings of appreciation and unrest.

Psion’s rumination were interrupted as two individuals entered the lunchroom, and after a brief introduction ( and announcement) Agent Delphi and Advisor Sethlan assumed control of the room and began the informal debriefing session.

Zephyr smiled under his visor and let out a small sigh in sympathetic relief as he watched Zara’s reaction to the news of her field partner, Agent Cross’ stable condition. That was indeed good news and the warm feeling in knowing that he would recover felt like a great reward. Blue’s instincts were right in seeking to ‘defuse’ and altercation, but things quickly spiraled out of control regardless of good intentions, evil wasn’t about to be so easily deterred.

“What can any of you tell us about the incident in Union Square park?” Agent Delphi inquired of the group.

“Anyone can go first. There’s no rush."

After a few heartbeats of silence, Psion recognized his cue to go first. Clearing his throat and standing up, ( reminiscent of school days) he began the retelling.

“Ahem…On behalf of our team, I want to thank White Star for including us in the effort to bring positive change to meta humans and humans alike.”

“Well, from my vantage point, that situation started right after our team acquired the package for our escort mission. Our team leader Blue had heard a boisterous person probably looking to cause and altercation and he rightfully went to look into it. Aegis and I had possession of the package and took cover to render assistance to Blue should the need arise. We had no idea that the individual was a meta or that the persons being accosted were Agent Cross and Agent Zero-G” He would nod to Zara in acknowledgement.

“From a distance we observed Blu’s attempt to physically move Agent Cross from harms way, but the meta proved to be very fast and the energy bolt incredibly deadly. The bolt sent the agent flying and crashing many feet away from the point of impact. I used our authorized channel to report a downed agent of yours as I did notice the White Star symbol on his uniform. His wounds were grievous and appeared fatal; his service weapon had careened away and lay unattended.” The memories of the events were still fresh and so were the details that he perceived using his abilities; Agent Cross’ armor was made of very strong material, that it was so easily destroyed by the energy bolt was a testament to the power that the villain wields.

“There was no incoming intel on the attacking meta, so we had to proceed as we thought best. The best recourse at the time was to take the liberty to patch up Agent Cross as best as possible to give him a better chance… until medical help arrived and to recover his weapon for safekeeping.”

A small sigh would escape him, it had been a long day.

“Blue and Agent Zero-G engaged the aggressor and Aegis and I had to separate from the encounter and deliver the package, mission time had changed and the ETA was closing in fast. At this point we were away from the debacle, so….for the sake of continuity, someone can fill in.”

Sitting down, Psion would recall all he could, making sure to keep in mind to speak that which was pertinent to the debriefing, including some of the misgivings he felt about such a powerful and obviously evil meta-human in the hands of an organization like H.A.M.M.E.R. it simply did not bode well.

    Blueline & Casey
    NYC

Blue couldn't help the slight flicker of a scowl on his face. He felt hemmed in, forced into a position he never wanted to be. He didn't want to be interviewed or debriefed but that seemed like what was happening. He sat quietly still eating while Delphi and Sethlan made their introductions. He was in no rush to make his report. He didn't like this, he didn't like this whole situation. Something inside him felt off. All he wanted to do was keep people safe and everything else felt like an annoyance, a hindrance, a distraction. It felt like the longer he hid away, the more people got hurt, the more guilt he felt. And for some reason he felt like he'd been locked away for a long time, had his hands bound. Now that he was finally getting out and able to do something he never wanted to go back to the cage, he never wanted to be distracted from what mattered. Making a difference. He saw the look in that mother's eyes when he intervened, the relief that there was someone out there to save her daughter, to save her.

Why would he let bad things happen, why would he stay hidden when people needed his help. That feeling of guilt turned to anger still simmered inside him. It agitated his already present distrust of authority, getting handcuffed by police a few times will do that to you, being hunted because of who you are will do that to you. This caused a spiral of anger and twitchiness that was apparent from his actions and words. Though the man himself didn't truly have the mental process to understand all of that.

He just felt wrong, like there was something more he should be doing.

The long quiet held, Blue didn't really feel like talking at that moment.

Psion gave a glowing review of the White Star and Blue tried to smile but it just felt hollow. It was great that someone was doing something, but it just wasn't for him. The place reeked of unnecessary bureaucracy and red tape. It grated on his act first, figure out a plan later, mentality. Psion the nominal team leader even though the man himself insisted that the bandanna hero was the leader, gave a run down of the first half of the mission. Leaving the scuffle with Mallen to those that were there to fill in.

Again there was silence, Blue looked to Zara wondering if she was going to speak before opening his mouth.

"Psion's leaving out that he attempted to restrain the guy with concrete." Blue added, "Which held for a bit then broke. I yelled at the crowd to get away, but they didn't. Me and Zero-G engaged again, she tried to draw him away, I was going to back her up, step in if the distraction didn't work. However an invisible force stopped Mallen. Later we find out it was some Iron Man looking dude. Things got worse after Mallen did his best impression of hand buzzer that sent me and several others flying as we were electrified. Again the invisible force harassed the bad guy, I rushed him trying to end the fight when Mallen decided he didn't want to use just one deadly show of force, and breathed flame like a dragon. I got caught at the edge of it and don't remember much until…" He looked to Casey before looking away. "I'm being whisked away by Psion." Yes it was a lie, yes he was making a false report, but he couldn't bring himself to admit that Casey was involved or how she played into this tale.

He feared what they would do if they knew a meta of her power and disposition was out in the world. He would not see her locked up for something that wasn't her fault. They may act like angels but Blue wasn't ready to trust them with Casey.

Casey kept quiet again remembering the moment she saw the flames, saw Blue disappear how her heart sank and how she lost control. She didn't want to relive that moment. Her gaze was directed down, becoming intimately familiar with her scuffed and dull converse shoes.

All eyes turned to Zara and she shifted uncomfortably. It was her turn. She cleared her throat.

“I proceeded to Union Square with Agent Cross. He was still training me – this is my first mission. We were to just act as back-up to watch the safe movement of the package. The being called Mallen accosted Agent Cross. He seemed to have a grudge against Cross – I don’t think he was ever interested in the package.

Then he attacked Cross with a blast – that’s when I knew he was some sort of meta-human. I tried to subdue him but he was far too powerful. Blueline could do it, though; he held Mallen down while Agent Psion encased him in concrete.

But that did not hold Mallen, either. He blasted out and seemed to get more powerful as the encounter developed. I tried to tempt him away from Union Square – there were so many civilians. But he was so quick, too, and there were others still there for him to fight.

Agent Gemini arrived and ordered me to pull out.”

She looked at Blueline. “I didn’t know you had followed me… I’m sorry.”

She returned her attention to the White Star agents.

“Mallen was erupting with energies, and civilian casualties were mounting – even Gemini could not stop him. Then…”

Zara glanced at Casey. She had not missed that Blue had not mentioned her. Neither had Psion. Zara decided it was not her place to change that. Stick to your own report.

“Then, sentinels arrived along with other HAMMER units. I think they might have been there for Mallen, but one locked onto me.”

    She shuddered at the memory.

“I tried to evade it. I couldn’t. I tried to fight it. I couldn’t. It caught me once, but I managed to slip free. I thought I might lose it inside partially constructed buildings. I’m sorry, I think there was a lot of damage. In the end, a tower crane with those massive counterweights fell on top of it. That seemed to shut it down, even if only temporarily. This allowed me to lose it and get to the reunion point at Grand Central. I should mention that some Morlocks helped me – I was badly wounded, but one had a healing power.

I don’t know what happened to Mallen.”

Zara lowered her eyes. Was she really good enough to remain a member of White Star?

Both Delphi and Advisor Sethlan listened keenly to everything that was being said and described by every speaker. Psion, Blueline, & Agent Zero G.
Their expression only revealed their vested interest on each individual's report and nothing else.

There was a palpable pause after Zara's report, one that dragged for a few moments, before Delphi broke the silence.

"Is there anything anyone would like to add before we move on?"

She asked in an engaging, yet commanding tone. Delphi's gaze fell one each individual in the room, quietly studying them. The same was true of Advisor Sethlan.

The tension in the room was slight and manageable, to their credit, everyone offered their statements with relative calm. The events at Union Square were not pleasant, and the group had faced up to great danger, especially Blue who was nearly incinerated and Agent Cross who was almost blasted to oblivion.

Psion’s eyebrow raised in surprise at the end Zara’s statement. The fact that she escaped the clutches of any Sentinel was incredible, the woman had displayed incredible control and mastery of martial discipline and her own abilities.

The surprise was that she did not mention what she saw when Casey took to the field.

Psion couldn’t help but to gain new respect for Zara; she had been keen enough to intuit that Team Psion was unwilling to discuss Aegis at this time and they had their reasons. He felt like leaning over an giving Zara a big hug, that’s what ‘Zephyr’ would have done, but he was on the field now, he was Psion. Still, such and act of empathy deserved a thank you and he was determined to show his appreciation at some point.

"Is there anything anyone would like to add before we move on?" Agent Delphi inquired after a brief pause, her tone seeming to ask a question behind that question.

“Yes ma’am, I do…” came Psion’s reply with a raised hand; he had so many questions and concerns but decided to stick to the issue of ‘the being called Mallen’.

    Standing up again, he continued.

“With all due respect, this is something that I’ve been going over in my head…”

“Since were are allied and this was your op, we defer to your instructions, of course. So the lack of intel suggests that this villain ‘Mallen’ is new or top secret, granted our own database didn’t have anything on him either, but we are independent and operate locally.”

His gloved hand rubbed his chin as he continued in a contemplative tone…

“We struggled against him and failed to contain him, I can clearly imagine that only authorized agents can use extreme to lethal force during your op. and this Mallen would most likely have required such measures to be subdued. But…”

“ …It just seems that allowing him to be captured by H.A.M.M.E.R would lead to greater challenges and pains for all of us, I mean, he could sell his services to them….he’d be their top Bounty Hunter, and our debacle was basically his portfolio…”

“These are my thoughts alone, just to be clear, my personal misgivings, no one else’s.”

Sitting back down, Psion’s mind would start racing trying to figure out ways to counter this new villain that he surely felt would come back to haunt the heroes of the city. His fingers would lightly tap on his arm rest as he waited to hear what Agent Delphi and Advisor Sethlan had to say.

    Blueline & Casey
    NYC

Blue kept quiet as Zara gave her report, a few interesting tidbits stuck out. This was her first mission for the White Star though she seemed rather composed out in the field. Maybe she had prior training elsewhere? The next was the fact she brought down a sentinel. That caused his eyes to widen a little. The hulking purple people snatchers are not one's to be trifled with, even Blue knew to scatter from their presence. Zero-G did but also drew it into a trap destroying it. She was smart and determined if she escaped from its grasp more than once. Blue looked to her giving a nod of his head an acknowledgment of her actions, of what she'd been though.

Even though she was looking at her shoes for most of the time, she did make eye contact with Zara when the agent looked her way. The young meta gave a slight smile feeling just a little more friendly towards her, and when she left her out of her report Casey couldn't help but feel some relief. She knew just how dangerous her powers were, and how some people reacted to them. Blue might fear them, but he would never do anything to harm her, or scare her. These people where new, she didn't know what they would do, or what steps they would take to keep her from hurting more people.

While she didn't want to hurt people, the thought of being locked away sent shivers up her spine.

The call was made for anymore questions, Blue just sat back crossing his arms. He was done here. Casey just looked at her shoes scuffing the floor a little with her toe. She also wanted to leave, maybe explore the common area.

A bit of heat returned to her cheeks recalling the Demon Boy she saw walking among the crowd. This time there was no bandana to hide her blush.

Psion launched into another of his speeches, though it was less impassioned than his normal rows with Blue. Though maybe he was trying to be more professional or was just genuinely curious as to the fate of such a powerful foe. Blue himself was already coming up with some strategies. Chokeholds, while dangerous to attempt, did seem to have something of an effect. He might have been a monster but even they needed blood in their brains. If there was one thing he'd learned in this work, it was that you prepare to fight your foes many times. Given that Blue did not wish to end life, even those who are clearly evil, it was a hazard.

Casey again kept quiet, she was with him on this one. What were they going to do about Mallen, he clearly didn't care about other's lives and was just out for himself and on a clear power trip. Part of her was interested in hearing what the plan was, and another still wanted to leave.

Looking to Zara she gave a little thumbs up. A small sign of respect.

Blue looked to Agent 77 the one that had mentioned Agent Carter. She seemed rather reserved though this debriefing didn't involve her, but she kept an eye on them all. There was something about the way she scanned the room. Almost like he did looking for any danger.

He returned his attention to the other agents awaiting their response.

    Shelly VanKasser
    Alhambra, Arizona

There were many small parks in the Alhambra area, and Tony directed Shelly to a park near her area, just about a five minute walking distance from Mrs Wesley’s home.

Shelly would have no trouble finding both Tony and Colin who were conversing not too far from the park's entrance. They waved at Shelly as soon as they saw her, beckoning her to join them.

“Hey! Shelly! over here!” Colin called out.

The morning was crisp and dry and many folks were out and about as expected on such a day.

“Glad you could make it.” The red headed Colin would say in greeting. Shelly could see he still wore his ‘fake collar’ as well. Tony flashed her a smile and a thumbs up.

“Did you have breakfast, or are you good?”

Colin smiled as he waited for an answer while Tony took the opportunity to glance at where his car was parked.

    Isla Carson
    Mystic Masters Sanctum, London

"It was a good idea to gain intel at Ground level, but I think we should inform the masters at both Hong Kong and Kamar-Taj about this strange interference. This Incident may be local to New York, but anything that can disturb the wards protecting the Sanctums needs reporting"

Despite his own misgivings, Tenzin found himself smiling at the wisdom imparted by Master Isla. Indeed, the London Sanctum was in good hands. Be that as it may, her words rang true. Communicating with the other sanctums was an ideal suggestion.

“Thank you, Master Isla. I agree with you.” The monk nodded, as if coming to a decision. “Please allow me to make contact.”

Tenzin paused long enough for Master Isla to respond before his translucent form pulsed as he began the call.

    {{ ‘Vyavaharati sardham suhrdah antah Hong Kong, antah Kamar-Taj’ }}

The mystic phrase, which Isla could hear clearly in her mind, was repeated several times. Within moments, she would be able to sense and see the translucent images of those who responded.

From the Sanctum in Hong Kong, Isla would recognize a man who helped her during her early studies of the Mystic Arts:

    Master Wong.

“Greetings from Honk Kong, Master Isla, Master Tenzin.” Wong would greet in his amiable fashion and offer a respectful nod of his head. “Head Master.” He would add, acknowledging the presence from Kathmandu.

From the Sanctum of Kamar-Taj, another familiar face also greeted them.

    Head Master Mordo.

“Greetings Masters and Peace be with you. How can I be of help today?”

The Head Master would nod as he offered a pleasant smile, even as his eyes scrutinized those assembled. It had been a long time since a call involving all sanctums had been made. A long time indeed.

"Perhaps you could help me. I am curious how you would think this will play out? To you I am sure it is a known ending, I do not get the time to see these things normally."

The Bounty Hunter paused an had a curious expression on his face, as one who was trying to place a foreign accent. He seemed to think better of it however and let the question pass. His head turned to regard the screen, eyes slanting slightly.

“Those there are Bounty Hunters like me.” He said, almost in the manner a tutor would a student. "That meta, I bet he is worth a lot if he’s captured alive. They’re not worth so much when they’re dead.” The man spared a quick glance at the blonde to see if she was paying attention, then went back to explaining.

“Those Sentinels that just flew over us are likely going to spoil all the fun. H.A.M.M.E.R.’s Giant Purple Robots make it hard to make a living, that’s why we have to hit them metas hard and quick to make the collar before they do.”

The man shook his head as he watched a car explode on screen.

“I better be going and lend a hand - though that’s one helluva tough meta, I tell you that.”

The Bounty Hunter turned to go, then stopped in mid-stride.

“I’d stay indoors if I were you until this all blows over. Would hate for you to get caught up in a HAMMER sweep.”

With that, the Bounty Hunter placed his helmet on his head and headed towards his vehicle.

Those gathered around the screen would react in surprise at the exploding car, for that was not an everyday occurrence - at least not in Union Square.

Out of the corner of her eye, Seira would see a HAMMER patrol drone. It was still down the block and not yet in her ‘orbit’, but it was certainly making its way in her direction. The drone was equipped with a meta-scanner, but unlike the hand held version, it was silent and would not ‘alert’ the subject that it had been scanned. That data would be sent directly to H.A.M.M.E.R.

Still, even among what was taking place in the present moment, thoughts of SGC's gypsy friends and those at Wundagore Mountain, would also linger in her mind.

Aegis, Blueline, Zephyr, Zero G, Agent 77
    Undercity, White Star Safe Zone

“Do you recognize the person in this image. Is this Mallen?”

Agent Delphi asked as the screen behind her was filled.

Psion, your concern is warranted and duly noted. As you recall, we enlisted your Team’s aid due to our present need and lack of official resources to carry out the op. Delivering the package was Priority One. Seeing it safely transported out of our airspace was Priority Two. We did not have the resources on hand to neutralize Mallen, as there were other situations also developing, in addition, doing so might have also jeopardized the package and we could not afford to take that risk.

No one could have anticipated his level or range of power, as he was able to withstand blows from one of our top agents in a controlled setting.

Last we heard, Mallen was apprehended by H.A.M.M.E.R. Sentinels and is being taken to ‘The Yard’. We shall be monitoring the situation as best we can.”

Another image appeared, and that was of Aegis in a rage, barreling down at Mallen.

Agent Delphi immediately raised a hand to halt any spoken objections.

“We understand your thinking behind this omission.” She declared in no uncertain terms. “But we also appreciate transparency and trust - and that goes both ways. That is no easy feat these days, believe me, we know.”

“Understand the difference between innocuous omission and dangerous omission, these two end very differently. That being said, our offer for Team Psion to join White Star still stands, if you will have it.That will mean training for young Aegis here, among many other benefits. You do not have to answer immediately. Take your time, think about it and give it careful consideration.”

Agent Delphi’s expression softened slightly as she looked to Casey sitting there, not saying a word. She wished she could say more, but could not. As for doing more, this was an attempt at that.

“For your escort work, you will be rewarded with credits and supplies.” At a gesture from Delphi, Advisor Sethlan took several steps and offered a slim datapad, leveling it in the vicinity of both Psion and Blue, as it wasn’t clear which of the two was the Team’s actual leader. The entry space was empty, so Team Psion could name their price and input what supplies they required.

Agent Zero G. You have been paired with Agent 77. She will continue your training while Agent Cross recovers. Please remain after we conclude our business with Team Psion.”

Agent Delphi gave both Zara and 77 a congratulatory nod as she waited for Team Psion’s decision.

Shelly all but ran to the park that Tony had directed her to. She did slow down to a walk, about a block away, happily grinning as she made her way to the park. Once she got there, Shelly looking around the area, and spotted Tony and Collin who were talking not too far from the entrance of the park. They waved at her to come over, and she smiled as she returned the wave and walked over to where they were waiting. She noted that many folks were walking about, and that Colin had the same collar as she wore. What a pain!

“Glad you could make it.” Colin said in greeting. Tony flashed her a smile and a thumbs up.

“Did you have breakfast, or are you good?”

Colin smiled as he waited for an answer while Tony took the opportunity to glance at where his car was parked. Shelly quickly responded. "I'm good. Had something to eat before I got your message." Shelly nodded her head. "Thanks, by the way," she added with another smile.

Shelly noted that Tony was keeping an eye on his car, but then again, the man always seemed to be moving. Probably some of his 'fans' would spot him. Shelly shrugged her shoulders.

"Ready to go, whenever you are!"

She hoped the day would be as good as her morning started, and was looking forward to it with anticipation.

    Psion
    Undercity, White Star Safe Zone

The room and everyone in it seemed to evanesce suddenly and the slim datapad loomed larger than life, floating in plain sight beckoning to be taken, the flashing prompt also beckoning enticingly, waiting to be filled out with promises of a better tomorrow, or perhaps to some, looking like a trap.

Psion took the proffered device and nodded in thanks at Advisor Sethlan.

“ Thank you sir…” he managed to say in an even tone. “Our team is going to need a moment or two, if that’s alright.”

By any measure this was a momentous occasion, getting rewarded for a job well done, being invited to join a freedom fighting organization…but Psion found nothing but confusion as he tried to remember how the team ever got involved with White Star in the first place. He wanted to be giddy with excitement, or even nervous, but the fuzzy blankness dominated any attempts at recalling the past; all that was left was to look forward.

Turning around, Psion regarded his teammates. He expected to find Blue wearing a steely glare of objection, the bandana hero wouldn’t be entirely wrong to be suspicious with everything that was happening.
Casey would probably be undecided and looking to hear the pros and cons, a group discussion seemed like a good idea, just so that everyone could speak for themselves and bring understanding.

“Guys…we should really talk about this, I’d prefer to do it back home. What do you think?”

Both Blue and Casey would hear the entreating tone in his voice, having been friends for so long they would recognize it, even behind his darkened mask.

The datapad gleamed in Psion’s gloved hands, something so small yet carrying so much significance; possibly being regarded as a treasure vault or Pandora’s Box.

    IC: Helena Schwartz (Agent 77)
    Under Grand Central Station

The arrival of Agent Delphine and Advisor Sethlan marked the end of the lunch. They were going back to business. She was to act as a witness to the proceedings. Agent Cross was mentioned again, Helena took note to inquire about him. Hopefully she will learn about the mission that Team Psion was on. Also about the so called Union Square Park Incident.

She noticed Zara’s reaction to the invitation to speak and how Psion volunteered to go first. So he seems to be the informal, or maybe the formal leader? Her colleagues did not give her a lot of information, probably there was no one whom they could send to babysit the group. Just like the old days…

That metahuman sounded pretty dangerous, a potential threat to be dealt with. Especially that he seemed to have been harassing fellow White Star agents. Then Blue decided to speak adding more details to the account. There was something off in it, but she could not place her finger on, so she remained silent. It would not help anyone if she started flinging accusations. Besides people were probably watching and studying, people who can read people better than her. Or maybe it was the mask?

It was Zara’s turn to speak. She made some things clearer, so the meta had an issue with Cross. Interesting, maybe should talk to him and find out why. Also what was the package? Helena grimaced at the mention of HAMMER and the Sentinels and Zara being noticed. That could be problematic. But being able to evade a Sentinel was an amazing feat.

What Psion added was worrisome and made sense. Such a meta could prove very lethal and needs to be dealt with before he could make any more damage. Then Delphi showed some pictures, the meta and what appears to be Casey, so that was what was off. The image was impressive though.

Helena was to be paired up with Agent Zero-G, she gave the other woman an encouraging smile and nodded to her.

    Undercity, White Star Safe Zone

Zara listened as Psion voiced his concern about Mallen. She sighed inwardly. The mysterious and handsome wizard had articulated her thoughts exactly, in a way she could not. She admired the way he could manipulate language as he could the elements.

The White Star Agents sprang the video feeds on them all - including the moment Casey had gone out of control. Zara stared at the floor like a naughty schoolgirl. It was not technically part of her report - the sentinel had turned up round about then - but still she felt admonished by their warning of "dangerous omissions".

Still, they congratulated Team Psion on a job well done and invited them to join the ranks. Zara looked up, hopefully. Blue and Casey maintained a sullen silence. Psion said they would have to discuss it. Zara was disappointed, but not entirely surprised. Blue had made clear he was never going to be interested in being part of a team, and Casey... well... she was more of a danger to missions than a help. Zara's heart went out to the girl, hoping she could somehow find the control she needed.

Then it was announced that Agent 77 would be Zara's new trainer and leader. She glanced at the older woman again, this time more curiously. She was severe and confident and seemed to be evaluating all of them, but offered Zara an encouraging smile. Zara nodded back.

She waited while their next mission was detailed...

The Bounty Hunter had paused with a curious expression on his face, as one who was trying to place a foreign accent. His head turned to regard the screen, eyes slanting slightly. Vision issues? Perhaps just concentration.

SGC simply nodded at what being said, keeping the females eyes currently being seen peeled on the screen and back at the Bounty Hunter. As one truly interested and slightly distracted by the subject matter.

SGC found himself/herself gasping a bit. What a strange reaction, but he let it slide, after all he was supposed to flow with what the illusion encouraged for base behaviors. Although he had no idea why one should gasp at an explosion. Run, either away or towards was the proper response depending on what one could do.

“I better be going and lend a hand - though that’s one helluva tough meta, I tell you that.”

The Bounty Hunter turned to go, then stopped in mid-stride. If SGC was ever capable of sweating now would of been the time, after all SGC was technically a meta.

“I’d stay indoors if I were you until this all blows over. Would hate for you to get caught up in a HAMMER sweep.”

With that, the Bounty Hunter placed his helmet on his head and headed towards his vehicle. Tilting her head she frowned at that for a moment before making sure to smile and do a small wave as the Bounty Hunter left.

Out of the corner of her eye, Seira saw a HAMMER patrol drone. Or rather what she assumed was one based off what the Bounty Hunter had just said and what she had witnessed so far. It was still down the block and not yet in her ‘orbit’, but it was certainly making its way in her direction. Looking back at the screen and the group of people she decided to follow the Bounty Hunters advice and return to the Sanctum.

As she turned to head back she wondered what this all meant for the home and the family SGC had barely just discovered and made before coming here. What did this mean for Amic? What did this mean for their mother? For all of Wundagore Mountain which could in a certain light be viewed as an Meta community. Still she could only learn so much in limited time she had out here, and knowing that the spell wouldn't work on non-organics meant this was fraught with more danger then she had assumed since becoming a she. Hopefully the Winged-One would be alright as well with those drones circling.

(A combo post between @Ameteth and Myself)

    Blue, Aegis and Psion
    Undercity, White Star Safe Zone

With a tilt of his head, Psion would indicate a far corner of the Lunchroom to huddle in, at best it was for the illusion of some privacy and to have a quick pow-wow.

Leaning in close and speaking above a whisper, the dark clad young meta would present his proposition to his teammates. Under his mask, he would smile weakly, there was so much to go over and very little time; as a team they had come to a fork on the road, but perhaps it wasn’t a bad fork.

“Listen guys…” His masked faced would regard both Blue and Aegis, their expressions serving as a barometer to press on or ease off from a given argument.

“We all want to go home, shower and unwind and most likely we may be close to the end of the debrief, so that’s good.”

“Let me also point out that by claiming our rightfully earned reward, we have an opportunity to acquire some good upgrades, and I don’t mean credits.” A small pause for the idea to sink in.

“I’m suggesting something like protective gear, for example, gloves; like that we don’t need to worry about fingerprints, especially now that Bounty Hunters are very active. Also, some sort of body armor….bullet proof, fire proof, shock resistant…we’re not invulnerable, but we’ve been very lucky.”

Turning to Blue, he would continue explaining.

“The bad guys have their arsenal arrayed against us, you can consider this a step to being better prepared, NO strings attached…”

“You’ve made your position very clear and no one is going to try to change it, your work is invaluable and we are all thankful for it…but even the enduring ‘Azulito’ can use an upgrade. You deserve it and Aegis does too, you can both wear protective gear under your regular jeans and hoodies….come to think of it, that’s a cool idea…why didn’t we come up with it before???” He chuckled in near disbelief.

“C’mon dude, after tussling with Mallen, you know this is the right move…”

Behind his mask and visor Psion’s silver eyes would search the faces of his teammates, hoping that his words would find what little common sense was left in this crazy world to make them understand that to fight another day one must live to see it.

Blue took a deep audible breath as he tried to calm his heart to still the tongue that had nothing but venom for the past few moments. He knew this conversation was coming, it took all his considerable will not to snap up the data pad and give it back with the same blank space. He needed nothing, he still needed nothing. Psion's mention of getting upgrades, body armor defensive things that Blue didn't see need for. Looking around it seemed like these people needed it more than him. Not everyone had powers and few had powers like him. He would get up again and again, of that he was sure.

"They need it more than us. I'll be fine. Not everyone has a healing factor." He said his tone wasn't harsh, it was almost caring. The dislike was still there, but he'd put it to one side. This wasn't about taking help from a group he disliked, it was about making sure those that needed things got them.

Casey was just looking at the ground. Their lie had been found out, her friends tried to protect her for that she was grateful. But the words of the woman rang in her head.

    'A dangerous omission'

Then the looks Zara and Delphi gave her, looks of pity like she was some broken thing. The offer of training was encouraging but she could still feel the sting behind those words, the underlying:

"You're a monster, you're going to get people hurt if you keep going like this."

It's not like she didn't know that, her soul was very well aware. It just felt wrong people that knew nothing about her situation telling her how best to handle it. But it didn't make her angry, it just left her hollow. Her thoughts spiraled out, if she was a monster then she should be locked away, that way she couldn't hurt anyone ever again. She didn't really notice Psion's words until she realized he stopped talking. She looked up, eyes a little teary eyed.

"I...I just want to go." Her quiet voice quaked a little.

Psion closed his eyes and tried to dispel his disappointment with a grimace, it was fortunate that his mask concealed his countenance and presented a constant and neutral 'face'.

He couldn't understand Blue's position ( which felt a lot like stubbornness) and it took a lot of patience to discuss most issues without a deeper understanding of the Bandana Hero's motivations.

Looking at Casey, his heart sank. Having her image displayed despite their efforts to keep her out of the discussion was surely an emotional blow, this was obviously bringing her down.

"Alrighty then, I think we're probably done here..." He said finally.

"Let's get back to our seats and look about going home."

As Psion approached Advisor Sethland, he decided that in spite of Blue's objections, that he'd put in the order for certain items, it was best to be prepared for various likely situation as well as unlikely ones. After all Blue's decision to forfeit his reward was a personal choice.

"On behalf of Team Psion, I want to thank you for White Star's consideration" he said with a respectful tone as he handed over the still blank datapad.

"We will deliberate back at our place and then contact you with our final decisions to your invitation to join as well submitting any reward request." a courteous and respectful nod would be given to both Agent Delphi and Advisor Sethland.

"If there are no other points of interest to be discussed, would you be so kind as to dismiss our group, we are tired and need to decompress after all that has occurred, I'm sure you understand."

The aroma of a good home cooked meal came to mind, bringing a slight smile to the raven haired hero and improving his mood in anticipation.

Psion looked around the room and wondered if any of the White Star agents present got to 'go home', did everyone live here underground? was this the future that heroes had to look forward to? No...Doom's vision for the world was flawed and White Star presented a good opportunity to affect change.

Thus he affably waited hoping to hear what would sound like closing deliberations and the magic words, 'You're dismissed!'

Zara was waiting for the next phase of the briefing when Psion returned and made his announcement, and request for dismissal.

Her heart sank. She knew the promise to deliberate further was a polite rejection, and she knew it was coming, but she had been holding out a vain hope.

She hated Blue's stubbornness, but she also admired it. It was that independent spirit that had stolen her heart in America.

Standing to attention, waiting for her next orders, Zara sensed an important moment slipping away. She could not bear it.

She turned and blurted out, "I was pleased to meet you! I hope I can see you again?"

She reddened, hoping they did not think it juvenile or stupid. It seemed... inadequate after facing a life-or-death situation, and triumphing together.

Then she turned back to her duty.

    Monin Bellascort
    -Arriving back in Chelsea

"No...Well I'm not sure. Liz recently passed out, so if you would, provide her with a place to lay down. I will be there shortly."

Monin hung up the phone and stared at it for a moment as the taxi came to a stop. This was so odd... But it was not the only thing that had been odd today. Why was he so calm about this? Why did this seem like it was something he would need to get used to?

The thoughts circulated his mind as he exited the taxi and made his way up to his apartment. Absentmindedly, silently, he grabbed a bag from his closet and began to fold clothes into the bag. Mainly lounge clothes, jeans, and loose shirts. 3....4 days worth...Something made him think he'd need it. The helicopter from the pier.

He sighed and looked to the ceiling. Rubbing his eyes, trying to drain the tiredness and stress from his eyes. What a day!

    ----

He arranged an Uber to pick him up from his building and made his way back down. It felt like he was being followed, but then again, how the hell would he know what that felt like? He stepped into the Uber Black SUV that arrived and remained silent as they pulled off into traffic. How do things seem so normal? Just an hour or so ago he was flying above Manhattan fighting a giant robot. "Okay...Let's try to make sense of this." He mumbled aloud. When they arrived at the studio building that Chuck arranged, there had been no cars, no giant robots, or men with guns or loud megaphones. So, what happened? Oh yea...something made his head hurt and Liz had passed out...It was like in a split second his entire world had changed. What about that...feeling? More than a feeling...message? That he felt above the water during the battle with the Sentinel. Something about Doom.

He pulled his phone out of his pocket and googled Doom and sentinel. Not expecting anything meaningful to come up.

    {{ ‘Vyavaharati sardham suhrdah antah Hong Kong, antah Kamar-Taj’ }}

Isla heard the mystic phase clearly in her mind as she watched Tenzin make contact with the other sanctums. It only took a few moments for his call to be answered, and Isla first sensed, then saw the translucent forms of those who had responded to the New York masters call.

From the Sanctum in Hong Kong, Isla recognized the man who helped her during her early studies of the Mystic Arts: Master Wong

“Greetings from Honk Kong, Master Isla, Master Tenzin.” Wong would greet in his amiable fashion and offer a respectful nod of his head. “Head Master.” He would add, acknowledging the presence from Kathmandu.

Isla's green eyes shifted to the second translucent image that had appeared alongside Wong. From the Sanctum of Kamar-Taj, another familiar face also greeted them: Headmaster Mordo.

“Greetings Masters and Peace be with you. How can I be of help today?”

Isla performed a respectful nod of her own to both Wong and Mordo and cleared her throat softly before speaking

"Master Wong, Headmaster Mordo, Thank you for joining us at such sort notice. We have called this meeting as Master Tenzin has informed me about strange occurrences currently in play in New York. Suspected Anti-Meta activity, as well as something we think you should be made aware of..." She paused for a beat and gestured towards Tenzin "... Master Tenzin, if you please" She finished, inviting Tenzin to explain everything to their fellow masters in his own words.

Larry sighed as he saw his bike wedged tightly between two vehicles, one which had snuck up and stupidly left Larry lost on how to get his bike out with scratching it.

What a jerk. He thought to himself, before slithering between the vehicles and gently wriggling his bike free from between them. With enough care and time, he would hopefully free his treasured vehicle.

Damn it Larry, you're gonna call him, aren't ya?

Larry sighed to himself, before taking his phone from his pocket and scrolling through his contacts. There he was. V.

He stood there for a moment, wondering if he should. Two paths lay ahead of him. One he had been following, and had been shot by police for.

Gotta play by your own rules, Larry.

He tapped the call button, and held the phone to his ear as he waited. Listening to the cold empty ringing. Waiting for him to pick up.

    Oh my days.

Ahead of Michael now stood... Well, he had no clue what stood ahead of him. It was a monstrous creation. Its rending claws swept toward Michael, resulting in him quickly rolling away, and following through by launching himself towards the beast, throwing himself into the air and slamming his fist towards the beast's face.

Hoping this would be of some use, he quickly continued, attempting to swing onto the back of the beast's neck and seize it by the neck, holding himself in a spot where the thing wouldn't be able to strike him. He needed to gauge this thing's intelligence, and more importantly, its strength.

OOC: A little reminiscing and enjoyment with @greyjedi125

    IC Daken
    Living Quarters Hallway

Daken kept track of the floors and where they were headed as they traveled to the living quarters, in case he had to do this again without her around. He caught the scent trails of many people but they were alone for now.

He smiled in return to her, thinking. ”Rest, relax? When have I ever truly been able to do that, beautiful?”

Turning toward his room he put his hand on the door, then turned back, ”I could let loose and have any number of guys or gals come running, but….I think I’d prefer if it were you sharing that time with me, of your own accord.”

He stayed there, head near the retinal scanner, waiting to see how she responded.

Moonstone smiled sweetly and folded her arms over her chest and decided to simply watch Daken for the moment, because they did enjoy their games together, except that he was a Maverick in the truest sense of the word and would never fully belong to her or anyone, save himself.

Wait. Did she just ruin her own fantasy just now?

    Damn him.

    Besides, he'd just challenged her.

"Oh? You mean any number of those gathered on the 5th Floor lounge? That's the only place Elite Soldier like you can socially mingle with drafted or enlisted personnel. All of them couldn't possibly measure up to little ole me, now could they?"

Moonstone played coy, but only for a second, before chuckling knowingly.

"So how long will you have me stand on this side of your door?"

”All of them, at once? Hmmm……” he laughed as he turned his head and unlocked the room with the scan. ”Nah, not even that many could measure up.”

He turned around, a cheeky grin on his face, ”As to how long, I was just enjoying the view.” he sketched an over exaggerated bow gesturing into his quarters, ”Beautiful blondie, the evenings entertainment awaits.”

    "Mmmm. Do tell."

Moonstone walked past Daken and into his spacious quarters with a coquettish gait to her walk. Unplanned candid moments such as these were to be enjoyed whenever they happened.

One glance of the spacious apartment informed her that all was as it should be. Daken's uniform was still folded on the queen size bed with all the accompanying effects, the ambient lighting and room temperature were also unchanged. Gingerly, the shapely blonde walked herself to the ample sofa and gracefully sat herself down, cross legged. Only then did she exert a fraction of her power through will and rearranged her costume into a pair of form-fitting white jeans, a gold colored tube-top and fashionable open toe string sandals. Her beautiful face stood revealed in full.

"Well, I'm just getting comfortable." She explained innocently, "You should too." she said, adding a playful wink.

Daken chuckled, he had enjoyed the time they’d spent together, even though she had finally realized no one would ever truly tie him down, figuratively or otherwise. His smile broadened as he watched her change, she could be just as much an enigma as he but in different ways. Her scent, her being, would always be the same to him, even if there were slight differences depending on her attitude at the time.

”Don’t mind if I do.” He stripped out of the SHIELD type outfit, no shame in doing so directly before her, she’d seen it all before. Reaching into the dresser by the rack of clothes he took out a pair of boxers and a pair of jean board shorts. Without a shirt he settled down on the sofa next to her.

”We have time to discuss why things have changed, but that’s for later.” Reaching out, one claw slid out a few inches and the flat of the blade traced her jaw, as he looked into her eyes, ”Been a while since we’ve had time like this to ourselves.”

Karla, as that was her name, closed her eyes for a moment and took a breath, allowing herself to feel the sensation of the extended claw. That very sensation brought clarity to otherwise fading memories. She relished in the danger of it, the claw, the man, the things he could do, the things he had done, the things they did together. But this, 'world'...she wasn't sure about many things- though she was trying to fit in, but deep inside she wasn't sure if she could.

"Mmmm. so you do remember...." a smile came to her lips, framed in a memory. Letting go would feel good, if only for a moment.

But waiting was a luxury they did not have, not in her estimation. There were events in motion that took them farther and farther away from a place of influence - assuming they could still influence anything at all.

"...So, what exactly do you remember...?" Karla asked with detectable concern. She didn't move away or change her position however.

Daken smiled, even now, in this intimate moment unable to hide the cheekiness in it. ”If we are discussing us, I remember many things, including how many thought I was using my pheromones to make you desire me.” he chuckled, ”Of course there were several who thought you were using me as a psychological experiment, Dr Sofen.” He couldn’t help the slight jab, even if he’d wanted to, it was just who he was.

His eyes lost their luster for a moment as a memory passed before them. ”But the one memory that truly sticks is the one that truly was the beginning of the end of us. The restaurant and sharing tea, the story of the little old woman from when I was a child.”

His eyes refocused, looking into hers, ”You knew, then, me more deeply than many ever will, saw behind the mask that I’ve often told you we all wear. I am my own man, my own mutant, and always will be. But it didn’t change how I felt for you.”

With the last he leaned his head closer; her scent this close was an almost overwhelming presence. Memory upon memory flashed past his eyes. He did care for her but, though many had tried over the years with many hooks, none had or ever would control him.

"You always seem to say the right things."

Daken's use of her 'professional' name,Dr. Sofen, should have bothered her a lot more than it did. It probably would later, but not right at this moment. Being this close, why fight the forces of nature. No, Karla decided not to.

    < Beep, beep, beep.Washington H.Q.>

Moonstone leaned back with an audible groan as she rolled her eyes back into her skull as far as they could go.

There was a pause, followed by a scoffing exhale, then a shake of the head.

"I have to take this." she stated coldly, as she got up and went to the kitchen area, her costume rearranging itself back as she walked.

Being Force Commander of H.A.M.M.E.R was a very lofty position which came with some additional 'features', like never being able to turn off one's comlink, even when it was 'off'.

Just as things were growing deeper Moonstone received a call. Daken sighed, but the grin did not leave his face. He nodded at her as she stood and moved to the kitchen.

He retracted his claw and stood too, toggling the display on the wall that could mimic the outside or show any channel that could be received. With the volume at low, he didn’t need it higher with his hearing and it wouldn’t interrupt her call, he flipped through channels until he found one that was showing amateur and news videos of the events that had occurred at Union Square.

He watched for a time, trying to get a feel for the actions and abilities of the various supers that he could see in the videos, knowing chances were high that he would run into one or more of them in the near future. The Chinese one that he’d been shown before was intriguing, especially how she managed to evade the Sentinel. She would be one who he would probably have the most difficulty with, from first impressions.

A sigh preceded her as she returned from the kitchen area. Moonstone rolled her eyes, before taking in a sharp breath then releasing it, even as she composed herself. Her costume remained unchanged.

“So, the Big Folks want a full report on Mallen’s infiltration Op as well as a report on the loss of High End Assets and Ordnance.”

Moonstone folded her arms over her chest and remained standing where she was, she then became pensive for a brief moment as many thoughts raced inside her mind.

“These reports…it’s almost as if they’re looking for something, but I can’t quite figure out what it could be - at least not yet.”

It was clear the illusive answer was not about to make itself known to her at that very moment, as she still did not possess sufficient information to even begin speculating.

“Anyway, you should know that they got Director Osborn locked-up and frozen somewhere secret, yet still alive. Apparently, he contracted the Malform virus during one of his more ‘enthusiastic’ cleansing missions as the Iron Patriot - it was some kind of Super Malformed he’d been fighting.”

There was little to no mirth in Moonstone subsequent chuckle.

“The Deputy Director and her cronies hold ALL the real power, despite appearances.” She gave a small shake of her head, but still managed a conspiratorial smile.

“You, me and Taskmaster need to have a real conversation a lot sooner than later, just so you know.”

Slowly, but purposefully, the shapely blonde began to walk towards the main door, the room’s mood lighting making her appear even more magnificent to the eye. But, alas, duty called.

“It’s nearly impossible to tell if Reaper remembers anything from before or not, and as for Stain…well….that’s a tale for another time.” A hint of regret was perceivable in her tone at that last part. But clearly it was not something to be shared in that moment.

Reaching the door, the lovely Moonstone turned to face Daken, her eyes studying him, as if he were a living, breathing work of art.

“I’m guessing you’ll be visiting the 5th Floor Lounge then, hmmm?” She inquired half-playfully, but again, did not approach.

Daken turned around as she walked into the room, unsurprisingly the he of this world had similar taste in setup of living spaces as he did. Which was advantageous as it let his eyes roam over her form as she moved. As she spoke he filed away the pertinent details, and the details she didn’t say outright but could be inferred. A smile crossed his face, deadly politics indeed.

As she turned toward the door he finished his turn, having stayed in profile to her previously, letting the lighting do its work as much as she had. Taking a step he vaulted the bed, one hand dimpling it’s surface as he flew over it. Landing lightly on his feet, he stalked forward, his eyes meeting and holding hers.

He stopped well within the reach of both their personal spaces, eyes locked, ”You really want me to leave that many of your people on the bench, after a night in my company?” Smirking, his hand slid up the outside of her arm, tracing the muscle there, until it reached her neck. Sweeping her hair back slightly, his fingers touched her neck, feeling her pulse under his fingers.

”Blame me if you’re late, I’m sure they’d expect that as a reason.” he almost purred; ”After all I’m the extremely independent contractor that none can tame, as I’m sure even the me of this timeline can attest.”

Her mouth parted to protest, but no sound came forth. Blame? There was enough blame to go around for several lifetimes, but that had nothing to do with the present moment.

"Mmmmmmmm." Was all Moonstone would say as a response to Daken's touch. Her gaze never left his eyes as her costume simply disappeared. A slow smile began to adorn her beautiful face, because nothing else mattered. Sometimes, the best way to win a war was simply to surrender. This was not a 'go-to' strategy, but it worked perfectly in the moment - and what a moment it was.

Daken’s eyes lit as he watched her costume simply vanish, he whispered ”Beautiful, and as perfect as I remember.” just before his lips met hers. He shed his own garments, tossing them across the room, then lifted her, feeling her legs wrap around his waist, then stepped forward, pressing her back to the wall.

”Delicious.” he murmured, through the kiss, and then everything melted as their joint desire took over. The next several hours became a blur, passion, desire, and a reconnection of sorts. As much as he was a fully independent sort, he’d not left behind what they had shared and this showed they both felt that way, no matter the events that had occurred in the meantime.

"So you just watch things," said the Black-Coat, bafflement evident in his voice.

"It is our responsibility," Uatu repeated, again attempting to read the mind of the being before him. While it was within his power to rip the man asunder, he couldn't do it ethically, of course, but, being unable to simply tap into the man's thoughts was infuriating.

This was not an emotion he was used to.

Indeed, he was not emotionally invested in any interaction, but here he was.

"I'm just surprised you're not inclined to step in and save the day, perhaps delay the monstrous villain for just enough time that the heroes can win because of your valiant sacrifice."

"I am without ego; I am merely a Watcher."

"Yes, yes," the man said, stretching as he did. "But what's the plan when it all comes to an end?" He tapped the side of his cloak. "I've seen it. It's coming. Multiverse destruction."

"Then that is what was meant to be."

A snort. "Even the death of your own species? Where's your sense of self-preservation, man?"

    "I am not a man."

The Black-Coat sagged, leaning forward and letting his arms droop. "Deary me. You're not watching..." He straightened, and held out his hands broadly. "You're already dead."

A disquiet rose within Uatu. "Explain."

"Nope," he said, and Uatu's eyes flared in frustration.

"Engage with those people down there, and you'll work it out." He pointed at distant and beautiful Earth.

"I will not," Uatu shook his over-sized head. "It is not my role."

"No, it isn't. But you kinda have to decide what you are watching for." At that, he turned away, hands tucked behind his back. "But, when you're done being dead, let me know."

Uatu was piqued; he found the encounter deeply frustrating, but was happy it was over. He turned back, and peered down at Daken and the others, catching up with what he had missed with a twitch of his gaze, back and forth.

    NYC

Blue moved to the exit leaning against the doorframe, he was ready to leave and he'd gotten free food. There was nothing left here for him, he wished no ill will on the White Star but it just wasn't for him, would never be for him.

Casey took a seat drawing circles with her finger on the table top. She was feeling a little flat punched in the gut. Being told that you are a danger seemed to have that effect. Much like Blue she wanted to leave, at least get away from here. Maybe find some ice cream in the common area.

"I was pleased to meet you! I hope I can see you again?" Zara said looking towards the trio.

"Well if you end up around Union Square Park again, I'll be around." Blue said nodding his head a little. He wasn't against working with Zero-G again she seemed like a good person and her heart was in the right place.

"Yeah, maybe." Was Casey's weak reply. "Maybe next time they could meet under better circumstances."
