    Daken and Angela
    Sub Level Hangar 03

One long fingered hand rested on the hilt of Angela’s sword as she strode across the hangar floor. Her hair swayed in an unfelt breeze and a small smile was on her face as Moonstone spoke. She moved close to Daken, who stood there with a ‘butter won’t melt in my mouth’ smile on his face. He glanced at Angela then back at Moonstone, before he nodded to Angela, keeping his mouth shut, for once, and letting her reply.

As she closed on Daken her eyes raked Moonstone’s form, reading her body language as much as what the other woman said. She could tell that the other woman was on edge and the glance Moonstone gave her and Daken was one of wanting to step between them, even though her outward appearance was nothing but friendly.

One wing curled around the almost indestructible mutant, her arm snaking around his waist as her silver eyes sparkled as they met Moonstone’s gaze. ”You admit I am on the same level as the arrogant one. Stryfe believes it is his duty to use his assets as he desires. But,” her eyes sparkled again as she looked at Daken, ”In the position he and I have we can set ourselves wherever we believe is necessary, can we not, Lieutenant Moonstone?” her tone had grown slightly firm as she responded.

Her wing tightened around Daken, ”I almost ignored the request, until the trooper mentioned who it was from. I have yet had no opportunity to assist one who, peripherally here on Earth, managed to distract my foes when I fought to conquer Hel. And now I can, partially at least, repay what he did.”

Daken glanced over at Angela, knowing some of why and what she had done to win control of Hel but having no idea at all what he’d done to assist. He’d been nowhere near where any of that battle took place so…And then his eyes narrowed in thought, realizing what Angela was doing. Especially when she leaned close, kissing his cheek.

He grinned then, ”Thank you for your assistance, I do believe we will…work together…very well.” He grinned at the phrase he’d used. Glancing at Moonstone, he shrugged, ”I didn’t expect her to be so…enthusiastic…to assist, but she seems to be…” he paused, a deep breath, ”Any other objection, my dearest Moonstone.”

John was happy with how he had learned to control his powers and used his shapeshift ability to transform into an old man. None would suspect him would they?. John shook the thought out his head. He then walked out onto the street to collect supplies from the nearest store. John passed many. He also looked up to see the Sentinals racing up into the sky above. John wondered if this would be day would be his last on the streets and new he had to get registered as soon as possible as his life depended on it.

    SGC’s 28.57^3
    Wundagore Citadel

SGC clacked his mandibles in surprise at what was being shared, and again at the choice that was being asked of him. To be honest he did not understand it. It was an odd request.

Choose? Choice? It was unfair and possibly a test. That was all he could conclude as his multifaceted eyes could not find any labels or descriptions. Just an array of things and the command to choose.

SGC did not know what to choose. But thinking about the past battles and training he has had brought some clarity, as did Master Tenzin’s words. Walking forward he tugged mentally at the shield to call it to his hind limbs. Next he called the staff. The sword was alluring in a shiny manner, but having been in New York he had learned some things were easier to get around with and the sword did not seem the easiest. Never mind that he himself could not. Same with the bow, he could shoot and perhaps with training he could couple his abilities with the weapon to dangerous affect, but he had no time for such things. His home was under attack and he was being called on to protect it.

next be reached a hand out to brush the armor, especially the helm. It would not fit him, he was not like the others and he didn’t know how or if it would last on his carapace. Instead he pointed at the rings and amulet. Silently asking with his gesture if he should take one? Once more not knowing what they did left him picking and wondering in the dark.

    Shelly & Mara
    Memories: High Fidelity

It was good to see Shelly perk up as the conversation continued, as she recalled past details she wished to share. Mara was also attentive, in her own way. Here in the Astral Plane, it was easier to remember things- and also to manifest them.

“Two other friends that also remember…?” Phoebe commented. “Do they also have abilities?” Celeste inquired. It was a special experience, communicating in this way. There was no annoying overlap or interruptions as everyone came in clearly and without ‘delays’. There was an agreed harmony to their interaction.

“You must be a natural then, not having formal training.” Mandee offered with a smile.

“Please, allow me…” Phoebe interjected and waved a hand around them. The area seemed to shimmer and the scenery along with her gesture. Colors coalesced, then brightened as they re-arranged themselves and eventually clarified into a green field.

The sky was bright and blue with white puffs of fluffy clouds. The grass was verdant green, being brushed by a soft breeze. The scent of nature was a lovely fragrance, dancing through the air.

“You’re in a memory.” Phoebe announced, smiling.

“They can feel as real as can be, or more so.” Celeste added as she glanced at Mara. “Your unconscious mind can remember things and details your conscious mind might not. Here, in the astral plane, you can manifest a memory and explore it, re-live it, or get lost in one. Many an untrained telepath has.”

A trained non-telepath could do similarly, but to a lesser degree.” Mandee put in, giving Shelly a thumbs up.

“Besides, I thought we could use a change of scenery.” Phoebe admitted with a shrug, then sat down on the grass. Mandee joined her, but Celeste remained standing for the moment.

“To put it bluntly…” Celeste began to say, “Doom has the Cosmic Cube in both timelines. He’s defeated ‘The Avengers’ and almost everyone else, but there are a few of us left still standing. He has greatly influenced and manipulated the second timeline, where we are now stuck in.”

“Whatever he has up his metal gauntlet, can’t be any good.” Phoebe interjected, half-joking. Mandee chuckled, but Celeste just rolled her eyes.

“Before we continue though, I just need to ask you both, who’s side are you on?”

A soft hush was carried upon a passing breeze as the question hung in the air.

    Agent Viper and Agent Cross
    Dancing on the Blade’s Edge

Agent Delphi and Nolan Cross shared a look and a knowing smile as Agent Viper asked his questions. If first impressions were any indication, it seemed Agent Viper was going to fit in like a hand in glove.

Agent Delphi clicked a device she had been holding and the holographic image of a man appeared.

“This is the Apothecary. Don’t let his apparent age fool you. He is a Master of Qi and will most likely be both bound and sedated. He’s been with us for a long time. Should you manage to free him, not only will he come along willingly, he will be a great addition to your exit strategy.”

Agent Delphi reinforced her words with a nod of reassurance.

“Now, for the holding facility itself. Most, if not all of those detained, are held underground. The few being processed would still be on the ground floor. It has been reported that the Hudson Yards holding facility is anywhere from three to six levels deep, maybe more. That is not our concern. A ‘specialist’ will be assisting you remotely to ensure you get to our asset. The staff at the holding facility is mostly human, armed and armored. You will be posing as staff members affecting a ‘prisoner transfer’. You will be equipped with HAMMER gear and weaponry, plus a few surprises.”

Agent Delphi let a sly smile cross her face then.

“You will also be provided back-up. Just in case. And yes, Viper. We will give you what schematics we have. We won’t have you going in blind.” She added for good measure.

“I mean, with their power fluctuations and their numbers being re-distributed due to the city-wide lockdown. What could possibly go wrong?”

    Daken & Angela
    Sub Level Hangar 03

A long silence had followed, almost like the quiet that clung to abandoned cemeteries long forgotten by the living.

Moonstone observed them both, studying every movement and nuance, every layer presented or hidden.

“It’s Force Commander.” She said simply, correcting the verbalized error. She was not ‘that’ far down the ladder, as far as rank was concerned.

“Not Lieutenant.” A small smile for a small triumph, followed by a small acknowledging nod.

“I agree, Lady Angela. The likes of you and Lord Stryfe have full reign to place yourselves wherever you please, as such is your prerogative.”

Her gaze shifted causally to Daken.

“Who am I then to have any objections?” She intoned innocently.

The question was rhetorical, so she didn’t wait for an answer.

“We’ve all chosen our teams…” She said, turning, glamorously so. Her costume glinted with an extra sheen.

“The team with the best results, wins.” She concluded, paused and looked over her shoulder for effect.

    “By your leave…m’lady.”

    John Paul
    Around the block

The NYPD patrol car had passed his door moments ago, its loud speaker urging residents to go indoors and remain inside. Folks were scattering away, but were not all necessarily going indoors. Many local shops were closing as mandated during a lockdown. Some were boarding up their windows and doors in the event of looters, but not all were in a hurry to do so.

John would see that Lenny’s Quick Mart was still open. Not only open, but it was also filled with last minute shoppers.

No one would pay attention to John, or recognize him for that matter, however, no one was helping him get any supplies either. The ‘every man for himself’ mentality had already taken over. At least the quick mart was well stocked, though John would have to act with a bit of alacrity if he wanted to make any purchases.

While folks shopped inside the crowded mart, they would not immediately notice the sound of a disturbance outside, especially since altercations were commonplace around that area.

    SGC
    Noble Armaments

The chamber had grown quiet as all eyes were on Noble SGC, even as the Knights of Wundagore wondered what weapons he would choose. Tenzin was himself, curious, anxious and proud at his pupil, all while mentally reminding himself to avail SGC of a sling ring, except, he could no longer return to Kamar Taj to requisition one for his student. The order of the Mystic Masters had fallen under some kind of corruption of unknown origin.

Now, those gathered found it intriguing that SGC’s first choice had been a shield, for it was no simple shield. The Kinetite Bulwark was a Shield that absorb ‘impact force’ and stored the energy. That energy could be consequently used for various effects, such as creating a defensive Shield Ring or Wall. That, or the stored impact force would be employed as a wave or cone of force, or even a repulsing ring on energy.

Next, Sir Aslan had nodded ever so slightly at seeing SGC pick up a Amelior’s Staff, which incidentally could also collapse to the size of a rod. Made from durable materials, the staff was a blunt weapon that could deliver a paralyzing shock to an organic target, it could also revive or knock-out a subject, depending on charge modulation. Curiously, perhaps, it also spoke of an undiscovered leadership quality from the Noble one.

Also intriguing, was the fact that SGC already possessed a form of armor, through his natural carapace, as he had no coat of fur to protect. Unless a suit was constructed specifically for his anatomy, none of the present suit of armor would fit him. Could that be why he’d chosen the Ring of Reconstitution? And what of the Amulet of Reflection? A Noble Soul often did mirror those they faced, for better or worse.

Incidentally, the quiet ‘knowing’ of the items had come to SGC, almost like a buried memory rising forth. Only on second thought would he realize, that Lady Mantra’s knowledge resided within him.

“You have chosen well….” Lord Garou’s voice was the one to break the silence. “Though presently unproven, I’d wager you have the makings of a fine Knight.”

Many cheered at this saying, Tenzin was of the opinion that they were moving too quickly and perhaps SGC was yet not ready, though certainly he could speak for himself. Now it was Lord Rakshasa’s turn to look on with interest.

“Next, we shall pair you with an ‘Atomic Steed’ young one, after which, Sir Aslan, our Leader, shall take a moment to dub thee into your rightful place.”

Expressions of agreement were heard from all about the chamber.

“What say you?” Lord Garou intoned, his voice carrying a hint of expectation.

Patrick listened to it all carefully, his blue eyes focused on Agent Delphi as she spoke.

With aname like Apothocary, he sounded like a medicine man or a healer. But if he was useful for his exit then so much for the better.

If other prisoners there were to escape in the ensuing chaos it would either help or hinder. But it seemed they would have the tools, the ID's and all the rest to get the job done. But with it being HAMMER there could be trouble lurking.

"There are still many things that could go wrong" Patrick replied with a smirk "When has it ever been easy to just scoop up an asset and head out of the nearest exit?"

He nodded "But with all the confusion about it should help some. Backup is good too just in case the bad guys show up. White Star needs all the assets we can get our hands on".

"I have no further questions, so shall we get started?"

    Emergency lockdown, NYC

The team had travelled in relative silence, their alternate route keeping them out of sight from patrols and pedestrians alike.

Fortunately, none of the situations observed on the way required the attention of the young heroes. Blue seemed focused on getting to the designated location and navigated the back alleys and rooftops with an ease that could only come from a good level of fitness and experience.

Aegis was keeping up without issues, but clearly there was something on her mind, lines of worry kept creasing her brow at regular intervals.

Psion sympathized deeply with his teammate for he also had ‘missing’ loved ones who’s well being was unknown. He wanted to say something like ‘don’t worry’, but that would probably have the opposite effect, and being focused during the mission was of primary importance.

Arriving at their destination, they entered a vacated office overlooking Bowling Green Park. From this vantage point Psion’s senses immediately detected all that was transpiring below; traffic jams and damaged vehicles, civilians fleeing the scene, some wounded on the floor and a few foolish ones courting bodily harm as they taunted the Charging Bull of Wall Street, which impossibly looked as if it had come alive.

The young Prime Shaper used his extraordinary gifts to ascertain what he could from the unfolding chaos, what he saw did not give him comfort.

The injured civilians were fortunate that their injuries were not fatal. However, the statue was fully animated, acting very much like the creature it was fashioned to represent, aggressive and deadly. Yet it was hard to explain how 7,000 pounds of bronze was made to behave like this. Even if he tried it himself, he’d have to be an expert on the behavior and movements of said animal, he’d have to have an incredible level of mastery to mimic life with such exactitude. This was clearly more than just skill, this was most likely the work of magic. And magic was something that he knew almost nothing about.

Psion’s keen senses observed that the mysterious energy that he could barely detect earlier glowed and surrounded the animated bull statue like an aura.
Suddenly, he became aware that this force was no longer hidden from him, it was almost like seeing an image appear from invisible ink. This stuff was indeed everywhere, all around them as far as he could see and sense. The scope of it began to fill him with a sense of dread.

In that moment, a tremor shook the area, causing some windows to break and many a car alarm to automatically go-off, for as far as they could hear.

Psion felt and saw the energy flash, or pulse, there was no doubt that the energy had caused the tremor. It was fascinating for sure, and even though he was too curious to be afraid, he was sensible enough to be alarmed by this unknown power.

“Guys, there is something else going on out there…”

Psion began, but just then their communicators vibrated, signaling that Doc was sending a quick non-verbal text report.

[ Miss Lourdes has messaged, urging Blueline to be careful. There’s also a report of a power fluctuation at the Hudson Yards Metahuman Holding Facility. An investigation has been initiated.]

From his position by the window, Psion turned to face his teammates, this was important news. There was no doubt in his mind that Aegis would want to pursue this lead. If this chaos presented a chance to free her dad from his imprisonment he was willing to lend every erg of his ability to the effort.

“What do you want to do?” he asked, mostly aimed at Aegis.

The disarray on the ground level did not escape his notice as he was tracking all movement in the immediate vicinity. It was no surprise when he ‘saw’ the Bull making a charge towards a couple of thrill seekers who were making ‘the most’ out of their present situation.

This bunch was going to get themselves killed, probably inebriated well to do youths who have had one too many at Cipriani nearby. He recognized the type having dined at the iconic restaurant a few times.

To Psion, their trajectory, rate of motion, inertia and momentum, everything indicated a fatal collision; basic observable physics in slow motion.
The darkly clad hero waved his hand as one would shoo a fly, chiefly for the benefit of his teammates, to indicated that he was affecting something.
That something was a controlled gust of air that pushed the thrill seekers out of harm’s way and to relative safety.

“ Better bruised than gouged and disemboweled.” He quipped mirthlessly.

“That bull will be difficult to neutralize, do you wish to wait until emergency personnel arrives?”

Psion remained vigilant, making sure that no one else came close to the metal threat, but he suspected that this was just the beginning.

    Shelly

    A beautiful memory

Shelly looked around her, as one of the ladies had changed the view, and now they stood in a beautiful meadow. Phoebe spoke to her then. “Two other friends that also remember…?” Phoebe commented. “Do they also have abilities?” Celeste inquired.

Shelly slowly nodded her head. She knew Colins for sure. But Tony?? He didnt have to fake wear a collar? But he was smart. Exceedlingly smart. Could that be his power? Or did he just have good toys? But she also remembered that Tony did say it was getting harder sometimes. A voice interrupted her thoughts.

“You must be a natural then, not having formal training.” Mandee offered with a smile.

Shelly chuckled softly at that thought. A natural? Guess you could put it that way. More like bron out of necessity. But she decided that she liked this astral plane. She could even smell and lovely sent of flowers. Truly, a nice memory. Funny. Shelly felt much more at home here, then when she was back in the 'real' world. Oh, she knew there were dangers here too, but this felt.. felt more natural. Shelly looked up to watch the puffy clouds dance by.

"A trained non-telepath could do similarly, but to a lesser degree.” Mandee put in, giving Shelly a thumbs up.

Shelly smiled at that thought. Oh, that sounded like something to learn how to do.

Shelly would have to try and remember this so she could tell the others. Again, this Doom guy. How had she missed all of this going on in the world? She was too busy just trying to stay alive. But still...

“Before we continue though, I just need to ask you both, who’s side are you on?”

"Side?" Shelly echoed softly, frowning slightly.

"Side? Really??! Heck, I didnt know there was any sides? Shelly frowned, " Ive never even heard of this Doom guy until this stuff happened. And how the heck did he manage to the time line?... NOPE! Nevermind. Sorry I asked. I just know I want it back the way it was before. Not having to wear collars, and maliformed attacking folks out of the blue. Why does this Doom person get to decided to push his will on the rest of us? My life might have not been all roses and cheetoes, but it was my life. And I dont really know anything about those Avenger guys either, but if they were trying to stop that guy, they sound good to me."

Shelly flopped on her back looking up at the sky. "Besides, what the heck can I do? Im just ... me. If these Advenger guys were powerful and stuff, then what can I do?"

Shelly grew quiet, as she mulled over the thought. She sure was going to have on heck of a tale to tell the others when she woke up.

    SGC’s 28.57^3
    Noble Armaments

The chamber had grown quiet as all eyes were on SGC, it was an odd sensation. It reminded him of the scientists watching to see what their latest experiment upon him would reveal, would cause. He shuddered slightly at that, not for the horror that it had been then, but for the horror that it was now. Now that he knew better. Now that he had known freedom. Now that he had known privacy. Now that he knew friends.

It was odd as SGC grabbed the first item, for he knew it. How? Hmm. Further testing was needed for this.

Hmmm, so this wasn’t a result unique to the shield. Ignoring the others watching SGC continued, why was this happening?

Blind drawing seemed to almost be guiding his choices. Could that be why he’d chosen the Ring of Reconstitution? And what of the Amulet of Reflection?

Then as he held the magical amulet poised to adorn it, that Lady Mantra’s knowledge resided within him. That it was a gift she had given him he had never known he had. Putting the amulet on he rubbed his mandibles gently, if he could cry he suspected he would now. Instead he softly rubbed his face, the last place to have felt her touch. To have known Mother. With a sigh of many feelings he heard the others speak.

“You have chosen well….” Lord Garou’s voice was the one to break the silence. “Though presently unproven, I’d wager you have the makings of a fine Knight.”

Many cheered at this saying, Tenzin was not one of them. Now it was Lord Rakshasa’s turn to look on with interest.

Expressions of agreement were heard from all about the chamber.

“What say you?” Lord Garou intoned, his voice carrying a hint of expectation.

“I will travel with Master Tenzin. I do not wish to fight with something I do not know. I have not ridden a bike, driven a ship - ground or sky, and am not ready.” SGC calmly stated. He knew he wasn’t, this was merely tragic circumstances trying to offer more than he was due.

John went as fast as his old legs would take him, and arrived in Lenny’s Quick Mart. John bought enough supplies to last him the week, if he rationed it right. John then left and returned to his apartment. When he arrived at his apartment he locked the door and shapshifted back into his normal self. he then started to put away his last minute bought supplies. John then sat down and flicked through the channels that were still available on his small TV. It wasn't the best, but in these times it would have to do.

Helena got called and she wondered what it was all about. She was getting ready for the mission and was a bit confused as to what might have happened? Was there a problem with her task?

These things occasionally happened. Missions got scrapped at the last moment and so on, so it was nothing too surprising. She had been mentally preparing herself for that one.

She gave a mental shrug, orders were orders…

Helena made her way through the base towards the conference room. She was running late and she hated that.

“I am sorry for being late.” she said as she entered the room “I was in the middle of preparation for the other mission.”

Helena looked around the room to see who was present. She knew some of the people, but not the new guy.

    Blueline and Casey
    Bull on parade

Blue never let his guard down. Doc said the streets were crawling with bounty hunters and H.A.M.M.E.R goons. There were times he overrode Doc taking a left instead of a right, or going down instead of up. His time working closely, though not with, the morlocks he'd learned a few routes getting through unseen. Though the further they went the less he knew and the more he was relying on Doc. It wasn't like he disliked the slowly growing AI, it was just he wasn't sure he could fully trust the computer, or was it computers? Ultron was an issue in the past and they were a collection of computers. Zephyr at the very least didn't seem that worried about it for now.

Locking those thoughts away Blue focused on the mission at hand, get to the place and keep people safe. As he entered the office building his eyes scanned over the space checking for threats, for danger. He could hear the slamming of hooves and ping of metal. It was getting bad down there and he had to do something. People were already on the ground, injured, and a few more were in danger of being so, or worse.

“Guys, there is something else going on out there…”

Zephyr added. Blue nodded his head. Statues don't just walk around on their own.

That's when the message hit. Lourdes telling him to be careful wasn't much of anything, it was still important but, he wasn't going to let it slow him down. The one that worried him was the power fluctuations at Hudson Yards. His gaze shifted over to Casey.

Aegis for her part tried to not look more worried than she already was. There was a chance she could slip in and see what was going on, maybe even save her father. But, looking to Blue she saw the determination in his eyes. They weren't going anywhere, not until this issue was solved or something. Then they would need to solve this quick.

She felt her heart rate spike as the bull charged the men closing in on the bull. Her legs tensed and she started to see the garden in her mind trying to summon Aegis, the other girl, she was the only one that could stop this, or that would have the hope to. Then with just a wave of his hand, Zephyr pushed the group out of the way. Maybe they didn't need her.

“That bull will be difficult to neutralize, do you wish to wait until emergency personnel arrives?”

"No," Blue said with no hesitation. "We can't wait. We have to go now." Blue looked out over the destruction. It would only get worse when the 'Authorities' got there. They had to stop this before that. He looked to Aegis taking a breath. He was the team leader, and time was of the essence. "Casey try to get the wounded out of the area. Zephyr do what you can to stop that thing…I'll keep it busy."

After this they could decide what to do next.

"Psion, give us a soft place to land." Blue said as he lept out the window, pressing his hand against the outside slowing himself down, he had to trust that Psion would give him some place to land.

There wasn't any time to waste.

Mara looked interested. I wonder what memories I've put away? Can they only help me remember the good ones, or is that something I have to learn on my own. She glanced over at the other woman Shelly, and wondered what she thought about all of this. She listened as they talked about what side they were on. It was hard. Mara knew and understood the ugly side of things, what powers could turn people into. She didn't want to become that, a twisted version of herself. It wasn't what she wanted, her parents on the other hand...

Shaking her head, Mara spoke up. "Can you teach me how to do that...how to find memories?" She asked, and then looked nervous. "I already know what side I'm on." Mara frowned and looked at them. "The side of good." She paused, and picked the grass with her hand, seemingly anxious. "I don't want to hurt anyone if I don't have to."

She looked at Shelly, and hesitated. "I mean, we might not be the Avengers but we can still train? We just need to find our Ironman to lead us."

    Daken and Angela
    Sub Level Hangar 03

Even in Angela’s embrace Daken’s eyes followed Moonstone as she turned. He grinned wickedly as she looked back over her shoulder, ”Minx…” he murmured.

Angela’s wing tightened around him, ”No looking at the jealous blonde one, my dear. Can’t have you focusing on her magically tight backside. Better be watching mine.” She faked a pout and pressed herself tighter against him.

Glancing over at Moonstone, she let out a sound that seemed almost like a cat, her hand in a claw motion, a smile upon her face. ”Of course…Force Commander. Let us get this mission begun so you can stop tempting my, temporary, commander.” her smile turning sickly sweet.

Shaking his head, Daken tried to move but Angela held him fast. Glancing over at the troops he’d command, he could see them grinning. He knew he had the reputation that he was always leading the seduction so for them to see him appearing to be on the back foot with it made them laugh.

He snorted, glancing between Moonstone and Angela, ”Oi, Blondie, Angela, there is plenty enough of me to go around for you both, once we get back.”

Glancing over at Reaper, ”No laughing from you, meathead, I know you want to, but I don’t see you having the same ‘problem’.”

Another glance and his eyes met Taskmaster’s mask, ”Don’t kill them all Boss, but I do suspect you may pick up a couple new moves by the time we get home.”

Turning back to his troops, his arm went around Angela’s waist as her wing tightened on him again, lifting her. He carried her, almost with ease, over to his troops, even with the fact that he knew she weighed a lot more than she appeared. Setting her down as they reached the troops he glanced again at the troop leader. ”Get them saddled up, we’ve got a job to do. And,” he thumbed a gesture at Moonstone and Reaper, ”We don’t want Blondie or the meathead to beat us in this game.”

Blue was a natural leader, his instructions came clear and consistent with their hero code, ‘to help those in need’ and it was clear that he need was immediate.

"Psion, give us a soft place to land." commanded the team leader, fearlessly leaping out the window without preamble.

“You got it.” replied the raven haired hero enthusiastically, his power already working.

Both Blue and Aegis’ descent would be guided by Psion, an updraft would provide an indication of their slowing and landing, clean and effortless.

Psion smiled under his visor, this felt like teamwork and he liked feeling useful to the team.

Immediately he located the fountain in the middle of Bowling Green Park, it was sheer luck that it hadn’t been shut down yet. His mind flashed with ideas for containing the rampaging Bull; maybe a sloping wall of ice, like a slippery corral providing no maneuvering space or footing. Perhaps encasing it in ice would be more efficient, a spherical prison would make moving it less arduous, but a column of ice was probably the best solution.

He did not want to vandalize the statue by disfiguring it or engage the mysterious energy directly and possibly escalating things in the area and putting more people in danger.

‘Be smart, not hasty’, he thought to himself as he took in all that was happening in the area. The traffic jam was still a mess and ground-based emergency vehicles were greatly hampered, so it was up to Team Argus to resolve the situation or at least neutralize the threat.

Aegis was the best choice to help the injured, she was easily the less intimidating of the three, as long as no one made her angry.

“Blue, I’ll enclose it on your signal, just let me know when you’re in position.” it seemed like a good plan.

The quicker they wrapped this up, the sooner they could go to ‘Hudson Yards’ and have a look at the situation.

Psion took a deep breath to focus and steady his mind. One thing at a time. The complexities of a prison break were too distracting to entertain at the moment, his teammates were counting on him to be at his best.

“I have you both covered in case we need to make a hasty retreat… ” Psion’s voice came through the communicator reassuringly.

    “So let’s do this.”

Psion’s silvery eyes shone as he readied himself, the Charging Bull of Wall Street trampled about angrily, and he hoped in silent prayer that the Cosmic powers that be would prevent anything else from coming alive to join the chaos.

    Out there....

As Shelly grew silent, the other girl, Mara spoke up next to the 3 ladies. "Can you teach me how to do that...how to find memories?" She asked, and then looked nervous. "I already know what side I'm on." She paused. "The side of good."

"I don't want to hurt anyone if I don't have to." she added. Shelly could understand that sentiment. Then Mara looked over at Shelly. "I mean, we might not be the Avengers but we can still train? We just need to find our Ironman to lead us."

Shelly laughed softly. "I think I got one of those," she said with a chuckle. She then nodded her head. I agree with you though, I definitely think we could use some training. Especially if it helps to keep my sanity.."

Shelly gave a small smile, as she looked around them. Manifest a memory ...hmmm? She cant wait for a lesson. It beats just running around. Anything, if it returned the world back to normal.

Patrick turned as a female voice spoke up apologizing for being late. His blue eyes appraised the new arrival and gave her a simple nod.

So this must be Agent 77.

He didn't know her, and if he had time he would have studied her file. He liked to know who he was working with, their strengths and any other missions they had been on, or if this was their first rodeo.

There was no recognition in her eyes coming his way so she had possibly not heard of him. SHIELD of course was once a global organisation with agents placed anywhere and everywhere so that was not surprising.

He wondered though whether she would bre coming with him and Agent Cross or whether she would be the backup. Perhaps all would be explained soon.

But time was wasting, and they needed to get this asset out fast before HAMMER even got a whiff of what was going on. And the one yhing he hated was wasting time. But Agent 77 now needed to be got up to speed on things.

He turned back to Agent Delphi, no doubt she would introduce him

"Once we get Agent 77 up to speed on things, I think we can proceed. I can discuss specific details as we get ready to go. With those Sentinels heading upstairs I feel time is of the essence here to get this asset out from under HAMMER's nose".

    John Paul
    Hearth & Home

It was on every channel. It didn’t matter where he would switch. The State of Emergency was the only thing allowed to air. H.A.M.M.E.R Patrols and Bounty Hunters were out in force, ensuring that the rule of law was being followed. Every citizen was required to be indoors as a safety precaution against the meteor shower. The City-wide Shield Dome was being activated. Sentinels had been launched into the air. Yet, there were citizens who would exploit this situation as an opportunity to engage in anarchy.

    That could not be allowed.

All John had to do was look outside his window to witness the mounting acts of rebellion by various individuals. Granted, the majority of those caught by surprise were attempting to reach their homes, but chaotic elements were making this a challenge, as Law Enforcement did not distinguish between perps and people. For the moment, there were no Sentinels on the ground- perhaps this fact alone emboldened empowered individuals.

H.A.M.M.E.R officials promised a strong response against said individuals if they insisted on causing problems.

As John continued to watch the news, he would receive a single text message from one of the ladies who worked at the school library.

[ Are you OK?] The message would read.

Before, he could answer John would hear earnest pounding on his front door.

“Open the Door. PH Balance Check!” The male voice demanded. It sounded like Bounty Hunters. The banging continued and the demand was made once again.

From everything that was going on, it was uncertain if those outside could hear John’s TV, or what they would do if he made them wait too long.

    Shelly, Mara & The Triplets
    As the World Churns

Iron Man is a good choice…” Mandee said encouragingly, softly smiling at Mara. The other two sisters traded knowing glances before rejoining the conversation.

“Well, we could go ahead and teach….” Phoebe stopped speaking suddenly, as if paralyzed. Celeste looked behind the group. In the distance, a light as bright as the sun appeared, then flashed a blinding light. Mandee and Celeste put up their hands as if warding against something unseen. The next moment, the meadow they were in shook as if hit by a powerful earthquake. So strong was the sensation, that the memory was literally shaken apart. Phoebe put her hands to her ears, yet opened her mouth in mimicry.

The anguished cry of a male voice dilated in and out of their perceptions. It sounded both close and far away. Mandee was able to buffer both Shelly and Mara from the accompanying discomfort. After several moments, the flash of light dissipated and the sensation began to recede. Mandee and Celeste floated over to support a slumping Phoebe, who appeared somewhat fatigued, if just for a moment.

They were all floating once again in the Astral Plane.

“I’m afraid something terrible has just happened. It’s not safe here. We’ll have to regroup.” Celeste informed.

“Mara, I sense you’re not that far from Shelly and her friends.” Mandee put in. “I think you’d be safer if you joined them, but that’s up to you both.” She added.

“When you both wake, you’ll feel refreshed and rejuvenated. At least you’ll have that.”

“You’re right Mara.” Phoebe said, after getting a hold of her bearings.

“We may not be the Avengers or the X-Men for that matter. There are too many of us scattered right now, but if we can manage to come together, we can become a New Breed of Heroes.”

The triplets began to slowly fade from view and perception, however, they would make every moment count.

“Listen, both of you. You can reach us by just thinking of us, we’ll hear you and respond if we can.”

“Yeah, we’ll need to come together if we’re going to win this.”

“There is a plan, we just can’t go into details right now. Hang in there or come together. Either way, stay safe.”

There would be a moment long enough for Mara and Shelly to speak any final exchanges, even as they grew sleepy here, which meant they would wake up in the real world, in short order.

    Midtwon Manhattan
    Safe House, a FATED encounter

They had been engaged in conversation, planning their next move. Some would say they’d been ‘distracted’, though that would not be quite accurate. By the time Dr. Redstone began to even notice, it was already too late.

All around the trio, Dr. Redstone, Liz and Monin, reality seemed to glass over at once. They had been suddenly transported to the Mirror Dimension. The Safe House apartment tessellated into infinite directions and beyond. Monin immediately ‘lit’ up, his power surging like a mighty star!

A burst of energy hit the good doctor from somewhere unseen, almost knocking him out for the count in one shot. Liz fell to the ground, unconscious, leaving the transformed Monin to face off alone against the armored figure.

The battle should have been titanic, ground shaking, world shattering, but it was not.

Dr. Redstone lay on the floor, breathing raggedly as he witnessed the impossible. It was as if the armored figure knew exactly how Monin would attack. He was ready, more than ready.

The exchange of power was indeed mighty, but brief. In the end, Monin was not prepared for his eldritch opponent, who incanted a spell that stripped him forcefully of the power he had rightfully inherited.

The power of the Star Brand.

    “Mine!”

To his credit, Monin hadn’t screamed in the real world, though in the Astral, his anguished cry would literally shake anyone sensitive enough to such things.

The encounter was over just as suddenly as it had begun. The trio was returned to the real world.

    Alive.

The armored figure created a portal and departed in casual indifference.

Almost as if nothing had happened, as if no one was ‘Watching’.

    Almost

Dr. Redstone struggled to move, but only managed to turn his head just so. His eyes fell on Monin, and after a moment he sighed in relief. The man was alive and breathing at least. This was no comfort for his abject failure. He had failed to protect a potential asset.

But maybe, just maybe, not everything was lost.

"Sorry to keep you waiting what can I help you with?" Asked John

John Paul opened the door and was greeted by a pair of armed and armored figures.

    ‘Bounty Hunters’

“Step outside for a Meta-check.” One of them instructed, if a bit brusquely. One could tell that despite their gear, they were a bit on edge, given the present situation. So far, their weapons were pointing down. The speaker was reaching into a side pouch to retrieve a device.

In that moment, John would be able to glance past the pair standing at his door, and spy another set across the street. A woman was crying and pleading as a hand-held device pointed in her direction kept on beeping. One of the bounty hunters was producing what looked like some kind of high-tech collar from his pack. Most people either looked-on as they hurried away, or simply ignored the situation.

“Sir, we don’t have all day.” The first Bounty Hunter said, stepping to one side to allow John space to move. The device was now on his hand, primed and ready to scan.

John did as instructed and knew that this was not going to end well. He had been an unregistered Meta for... How long was it now?. He was surely gonna get arrested for this but he complied to the bounty hunters demands as he thought that if he tried to run he'd be in even more trouble and the best thing to do was to comply. John was worried as heck and he was good at not showing it. This was John's last day on the streets. Well perhaps him shifting into an old man earlier was not the wisest of Ideas?. John would learn the true reality of which he now lived in, in time

    Shelly

    Peace, Astrally Interrupted

Things were starting to look up. The girl Mara made a comment about being taught some skills, which
Shelly was quite interested in learning as Phoebe spoke up. “Well, we could go ahead and teach….” Phoebe stopped speaking suddenly as if paralyzed. Celeste looked behind the group. In the distance, a light as bright as the sun appeared, then flashed a blinding light. Shelly didn't need to know, that in any realm, that was not good news. The next moment, the meadow they were in shook as if hit by a powerful earthquake. So strong was the sensation, that the memory was literally shaken apart. Phoebe put her hands to her ears, yet opened her mouth in mimicry.

The peaceful meadow was gone. Whatever had just happened, it was bad.

The meadow faded away and they were back, floating in the astral plane. “I’m afraid something terrible has just happened. It’s not safe here. We’ll have to regroup.” Celeste informed them.

Understatement of the century! That scream... Shelly rubbed her arms, as if suddenly cold. Mandee spoke up then.

“Mara, I sense you’re not that far from Shelly and her friends.” Mandee put in. “I think you’d be safer if you joined them, but that’s up to you both.” She added. “When you both wake, you’ll feel refreshed and rejuvenated. At least you’ll have that.”

Shelly looked over at Mara, as the triplets spoke of becoming a new breed of heroes. Shelly bit her lip, but stayed silent.

The triplets began to slowly fade from view and perception, however, they would make every moment count.

“Listen, both of you. You can reach us by just thinking of us, we’ll hear you and respond if we can.”

Well, that's good! That would be helpful. They continued. “Yeah, we’ll need to come together if we’re going to win this.”

“There is a plan, we just can’t go into details right now. Hang in there or come together. Either way, stay safe.”

Shelly looked over at Mara. "I'm in New York. Central Park. Some place called ‘Belvedere Castle. I don't know it well. If you are close, call me in the shadows. I should be able to hear you. Be safe!! The sentinels are going nuts!" Shelly gave a small smile.

    "Talk to you later!"

Shelly gave a small yawn, as indeed she started to feel a bit sleepy. How strange, to be sleepy here meant she was waking up someplace else. Another yawn as she closed her eyes, and thought back to the kitchen she was napping in. Suddenly, things didn't feel quite so bad at the moment. It was dangerous, but she wasn't losing her mind. And they weren't alone.

Shelly stretched out once more, grinning as things began to fade...

Boy, did she have a story to tell!

    Shelly VanKasser
    40 West 77th Street

When Shelly next opened her eyes, she would find herself in the exact position she remembered being before closing her eyes. There would be a moment however, a span of a second if that, when her mind expected to find her somewhere ‘different’, but thankfully her visual cues would remedy that.

As promised, she would feel refreshed, though the scent of freshly cooked food would stir her appetite. Nearby, there was a tray on a table, a silver cover placed over a plate. Clearly, the meal was meant for her.

In her mind, Shelly would remember meeting the Triplets and Mara with crystal clear clarity, as well as the events that transpired while in the Astral Plane.

Here at the apartments, she would see her friends glued to the giant screen which displayed current events.

Synthia’s holo-image would turn her head and greet her .

    “Welcome back.”

    Mara Arsenio
    Magic Shelf, LES

Mara would awaken, refreshed as if from a hearty slumber. Memories would dance in her mind of a place called the Astral Plane. Names would float in her consciousness, Phoebe, Celeste, Mandee, Shelly. Faces, images and places would swim round, clear as day. She would recall it all.

Had that been a dream? It certainly felt…real?

    “Mara!!”

She would hear her name being called.

“Mara!! Are you OK?” There was urgency in that voice. Worry. Concern.

    “Mara!! Are you here!?”

It was a young man’s voice. Kelvin. He had come to check on her.

Only now would Mara become increasingly aware of the situation developing outside her window, on the streets below. There was unrest. Clear. Palpable. She would sense anxiety from the surrounding minds that scurried to safety, but also fear.

Somewhere down the street, a woman was afraid. Not far from her, a man was resigned.

“Mara!! Please, answer me.” Kelvin called out from the bookstore bellow.

The device held by the Bounty Hunter continued to beep while pointed at John Paul, confirming his metahuman status. The armored man paused, shaking his head.

“Sorry, Gramps. You’ll need to come with us.” He said drily.

“You leave him alone!” A different woman stood nearby, yelling at the two men. She seemed distraught by the whole situation.

“Keep moving m’am. You need to be indoors.” The other Bounty Hunter warned, his weapon moving ever so slowly.

John would feel something cold and metallic being placed around his neck. An ‘inhibitor collar’. He would hear its locking mechanism engage, then the small whine of activation. A jolt would travel through his system then, a strange buzz would flood his brain. Suddenly, John would find himself reverting back to his normal form, surprising not just the woman, but the Bounty Hunters as well.

    “Freakin’ muties!!”

Suddenly, the dynamic of the situation changed. Force would be applied as handcuffs were produced to be placed on him- not just to arrest him fore being an unregistered mutant, but to also establish who was in control.

    Agent Cross & Agent 77
    White Star, Underground HQ

Agent Nolan Cross rose from his chair and saluted Agent 77 as she entered the room. A warm smile formed on his face.

“Hello again.” He said in good humor.

“Thank you for being flexible.” Agent Delphi added, greeting Helena with a curt nod. A buzz alerted her to her communicator, which she checked quickly, then her datapad.

“Things are happening quickly, Team.” She announced.

Viper, you’ve been reassigned to a different target of opportunity. Agent Lane herself will debrief you immediately, please meet her in conference room six.”

Salutes are exchanged as Viper exits the briefing room and silently proceeds to his new assignment.

“Things are that bad, eh?” Nolan comments despite himself.

“Stuff is hitting the fan as we speak.” was all Delphi could offer as a response.

“Which means, you’ll have to debrief 77 as you go. Everything you need is already set-up for you in Prep Room 12. Communications, Armor, codes, maps, your vehicle, weapons that could stop a charging Rhino in his tracks. All the H.A.M.M.E.R toys you will need.”

Delphi nodded confidently at the two agents.

“Get in, find the asset and extract. 1-2-3. No detours. You’re dismissed agents - and good luck!”

Once again, salutes are exchanged before the briefing room opens. This time Agent Delphi exits, as she is needed elsewhere.

“Prep Room 12 it is.” Nolan says, flexing his fingers in anticipation.

    “You ready for this 77?”

    SGC & Tenzin
    Wundagore Citadel

’Not ready’ Noble SGC had said, clear as could be.

The silence that followed was so complete, that only the sound of a breeze upon the curtains could be perceived. The moment seemed to stretch in time. What were the Knights experiencing? Was it shock, incredulity, rejection, outrage, amazement? There was no way to tell, for none betrayed their thoughts, except maybe for Tenzin. The Monk bore a look of out-pouring pride, surprise and relief at his student.

    “SGC…” He whispered.

Lord Rakshasa remained silent as well, though a glint of amusement did dance in his eyes.

    “As you wish, Noble SGC.”

Sir Aslan smiled lightly as he offered a single nod of acknowledgement, his majestic voice ringing within the chamber.

“Knowing oneself truly, honestly, without guile, beyond the opinion of others, is and indelible mark of remarkable worth and true nobility. The offer is open until that time when you feel yourself ready to join our ranks.”

There were exclamations of agreement in the background, but perhaps not as many as there should have been. Lord Garou and Snow Queen did offer gestures of support.

“You have a worthy apprentice, Monk.” Sir Urson intoned. “Instruct him well.”

“KNIGHTS!!!” Lord Garou exclaimed aloud suddenly.

“Demons threaten our Citadel once again. Raise your weapons and mount your steeds anew. We must defend our home. Wundagore must stand! To Battle!!”

A cheer from the gathered knights went up, as they all cried out in unison: “To Battle!! For Wundagore!!”

At once they began to file out of the hall, energized as they headed for the ‘stables’ to mount their ‘atomic steeds’.

“Lord Rakshasa, you know what to do.”

    “Indeed, Lord Garou. I do.”

The Lupine Lord gazed over his shoulder, regarding the pair, the Monk and his student; a slight nod is given before he strides off.

Tenzin turned to the feline Mage, deep concern coming over him.

“If the Knights are fighting demons here, what happens out there?” Tenzin gestured with a hand, pointing beyond the Citadel walls.

“Last I recall SGC also had other friends in the Transia Woods. Gypsies! What happens to those in Camp Zori?”

“We cannot be everywhere at once, Monk.” Lord Rakshasa spoke, his manner grave, but sober.

“We could very well use your assistance here, however…if you choose to venture beyond the Citadel walls, then you must decide quickly. Time is of the essence.”

Tenzin turned once again, this time looking to his pupil to help him resolve their quandary.

    Blueline, Aegis & Psion
    Team Argus, Wall Street Area

The Team landed, touching down smoothly, thanks to Psion’s powers. They were ready. They were focused.

Blueline, a true hero in all the ways that counted, moved in the line of vision of the animated Bull, successfully drawing his attention and angling it away from feeling and injured civilians. The animated Bull snorted intently, then pawed the ground. Despite his healing ability, Blue could still be wounded, he could still feel pain, could still be gored by a horn, or trampled. Blueline had paid the price for his heroics, all to protect the people, those less fortunate, less ‘powerful’. This would be no different.

The Bull began to charge at him, bearing all of its weight and power into its attack.

This left Casey -Aegis- free to gather the wounded and move them out of harms way, as they had planned.

Psion would also find an opportunity to act, now that the Charging Bull of Wall Street was no longer focused on pedestrians, but rather bounded towards their Team Leader.

Atop a nearby roof, a Sapient League shooter began to raise a rifle, but hand moved to force it back down. The shooter looked up, perplexed. The Squad Leader shook his head.

    “Not yet.”

Utilizing a security camera from a nearby lamp-post, Doc made a note of the incident, as he kept a watchful eye over the his Teammates.

    Squad: Daken
    Mission Field Blues

The interior of the APC was as expected, modern, spacious, efficient, comfortable. All systems were nominal in operation. That was not the issue.

Despite having the right-of-way as any other emergency vehicle, traffic was a jammed mess as far as the eye could see. Going down Fifth Venue was a literal impossibility at the moment. The APC driver was attempting to go crosstown heading west and likely take 11th Avenue or the Westside Highway downtown, but crosstown traffic was no better.

To their credit, soldiers assigned to Daken remained in place without complaint.

The traffic update was ongoing, but so were the incident reports. The situation at the Hudson Yards Holding Facility was not improving, but that area now fell under Moonstone’s jurisdiction. There was civilian unrest on the streets, but thus far, nothing the NYPD could not handle, with support of sanctioned Bounty Hunters.

News of protestors gathering at Union Square Park in defiance of the quarantine order came as no surprise. There was no need for involvement, unless there was clear indication of Metahuman activity. Strange reports of animated statues were also received. The first described the Bull of Wall Street on a rampage. It appeared that some civilians were hurt as a result, but local authorities were attempting to reach the site. Similarly, ( and technically closer in distance ), another report stated that the statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi at Washington Square Park had come down from its pedestal and was brandishing a sword. Additionally, unconfirmed intel also suggested metahuman elements in that vicinity.

If only their APC wasn’t stuck on the infamous 42nd Street intersection.

    Chief Daisy Johnson’s Office

    “Cameron…..”

Daisy’s voice shook as she regarded the ruined table she had barely touched and was now a pile of dust. Her form was inexplicably glowing….and her powers…..

“Am…am I losing…control?” she gasped, not wanting to think what would happen if that were true.

[Remain calm Chief, I’m running a quick analysis] Agent Lane instructed in her typically controlled manner. Screens popped into existence from thin air as instruments began to scan Quake.

“Just…don’t…touch….anything. I’m here for you.” Deputy Chief Guiles said carefully, noting the worried expression on Daisy’s face, even as he himself tried not to move until Agent Lane gave the green light.

    “Uhm…thanks.”

To their right, a large screen still ran the reports they had been reviewing. The meteor showers had began to fall on other major cities across the globe. London, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo, Hong Kong.

Moscow and Beijing were next, Wakanda soon after.

There was nothing natural about these occurrences. Something or someone was behind this.

    Doom?

    [Please don’t move, Chief.]

    “I’m trying. Believe me.”

News had just come in that a Safe House in midtown had been attacked. Dr. Redstone had lost a potential assist. A big one.

    Star Brand.

    “Lane….”

[I’ve already dispatched someone to look into it, chief.]

“Stay focused in the here and now, Daisy. You got this. I got you.” Cameron said in encouragement.

“I know.” She responded with a slight smile.

    That was a good sign.

“Remind me to switch coffee brands.” Cameron added.

Daisy chuckled and her glow oscillated, causing objects in the room to vibrate.

[Deputy Chief, I will kindly ask you to refrain] Agent Lane put in quickly.

    “Sorry, sorry…”

Daisy’s smile remain as she regarded Cameron; her ‘right hand’. She’d be lost in this crazy world without him.

    “Is that…Enya I’m hearing?”

[You've played Enya 77% percent of the times you've wished to relax in the past year.]

    “I have?…uhm…thanks?”

[I’m almost done with the analysis Chief, hold on a bit longer]

“Take your time. I’m not going anywhere like this.”

    SGC’s 28.57^3
    Wundagore Citadel

“SGC…” Tenzin whispered. Why was he whisperig? The long silence was surely contemplation based. SGC could not fathom what other reason the others might be silent at a time like this with creatures that were old foes bearing down upon them.

Lord Rakshasa remained silent as well. SGC had more expected him to speak.

“As you wish, Noble SGC.” Sir Aslan smiled lightly as he offered a single nod of acknowledgement, his majestic voice ringing within the chamber. “Knowing oneself truly, honestly, without guile, beyond the opinion of others, is and indelible mark of remarkable worth and true nobility. The offer is open until that time when you feel yourself ready to join our ranks.”

SGC felt it was more the mark of a good scientist and subject. Guess wrong and something might go wrong beyond your control that could ruin an experiment, or a life. It was better to slowly test and approach a thing honestly. Lies to self or to science merely led to wrong results, and wrong results that were untrue led to errors in future actions. This in turn leads to dissasterse! There were exclamations of agreement in the background, it was most odd. Why would anyone make noises of agreement to such a thing? Only Lord Garou and Snow Queen did offer gestures of support instead of confusing verbosity. Which SGC nodded and gestured in return his thanks.

SGC reflexively raised his hands towards his hearing organs and paused at the loudness of the Knights of Wundagore. What was with these people and yelling? At once they began to file out of the hall, seemingly energized as they headed for the ‘stables’ to mount their ‘atomic steeds’.

“Lord Rakshasa, you know what to do.”

    “Indeed, Lord Garou. I do.”

The Lupine Lord gazed over his shoulder, regarding the pair, the Monk and his student; a slight nod is given before he strides off. Alright, that was odd. SGC had no concept of what that was about.

Tenzin turned to the feline Mage, “If the Knights are fighting demons here, what happens out there?” Tenzin gestured with a hand, pointing beyond the Citadel walls.

SGC looked at him and let memories of the Gypsies run through his mind. "We cannot check on them." SGC finally stated. "Not unless we can without drawing attention from these 'Demons'. If the 'Demons' are focused here, us checking on them might draw some of the enemy away to the Gypsies that were not going to go there in the first place. Unless do you think Master we could go there by Sling-ring and not attract them? Or do we have a secure way to communicate that would not draw these enemies?" SGC asked in mild consternation.

He wanted to do what he should. But that was harder as he was made aware of others he considered friends in trouble. Sadly to his own discredit no matter what others said, he had not thought of them until Tenzin had mentioned them. Only now that he had been made to remember he did not know how he could rightly abandon the Knights to their battle without letting them down as well. The Knights were better suited to fight, but even if they won SGC was unsure if they would even consider riding out to the camp afterwards, not to mention if that would in turn be too late. Would him going put the Knights at risk? Would not going leave SGC's friends to die?

SGC did not know what to do.

    Shelly VanKasser
    The Castle

As Helly opened her eyes and look around, it was, for a brief moment a very strange sensation. She knew where she was.. but she knew something different as well. She was very happy for her connection to the void. She remembered everything that had happened in the Astral Plane. She would have plenty of time to think about it, but right now the smell of food wafted through the house, and she saw a tray of covered food on a small table. As she yawned once more, giving away to a giant stretch on the floor, she heard a voice call to her.

    “Welcome back.”

For a split second, Shelly wondered if Synthia knew of her little 'trip'. But she realized she was just speaking about her waking up. The others were glued to the giant screen that was displaying probably what was happening around them.

Shelly smiled as she stood up, and walked over to the table. "Thank you Synthia," she answered cheerfully. She walked over with a slight smile and sat down at the table investigating the contents on the tray. Right now, she really wanted some coffee. "Im sorry about the way I acted towards you earlier. You just really startled me." Shelly stated as she sat down at the table, not really ready to look at the news screen just yet.

As she began to pour a cup, Shelly spoke softly to the others. "Oh... I learned something. That guy you spoke of before, Doom? Well, it seems he had that...um.. 'Cosmic Cube' thingie in both timelines. Not quite sure how that works. Anyway, he’s defeated a lot of people, but not all of them." Shelly took a great gulp of coffee, thankful for the warmth. She then continues, looking at her plate, and not her friends. "Seems he's been busy manipulating the second timeline, just don't seem to know why...” Shelly shrugged her shoulders. "But it sounds like its more than just affecting us. Almost Cosmic. Can't really explain it. And whatever he is doing, it's also causing damage more than just to the timeline. Realities? The Planes? Shelly shook her head, frowning darkly. Something is happening there too. Something bad. And probably tied into what is happening here..."

Shelly grew quiet as she sipped her coffee.

"Synthia? How long was I asleep?" she asked the holo-image.

The wierd just kept getting wierder...

    IC Daken and Angela
    Times Square

The initial drive toward the zone that Daken was to have control over was simple, easy. Of course, having what was basically a goddess sitting on his lap did make the drive more enjoyable. His attention was split between Angela’s attentions and keeping track of all that was occurring. He ignored the reports that dealt with the other’s zones, except to make sure that they did not spill over to his. The incident at Union Square Park was under control it seemed so that was a lesser concern. The rampaging statues were interesting and were possibly worth the team’s attention, if there was no other activity from the falling ‘stones’.

All this was going through his head when the APC came to a halt. Looking up, he was about to inquire why when what he saw answered his question. Shaking his head, he glanced at the woman squirming on his lap, ”Seems the authorities cannot keep people out of Times Square, frigging Times Square, even when the sky is literally falling.” he said in a wry tone.

Angela tapped a screen, one of the rotary camera’s turning as she fiddled with the controls. ”Lemmings, they’re lemmings, racing toward the cliffs as though it’s sport.” she muttered, her wings ruffling as she spoke.

Lifting his hand from her lap, Daken’s hand waved toward the front windscreen, ”Even lemmings can cause trouble and these lemmings are keeping us from being able to reach any of the trouble spots.”

He pulled up one of the area maps, judging how far they were from any of the disturbances that they could react and act against. ”Hmmm, which sounds more fun, the Bull of Wall Street or Giuseppe Garibaldi? Whoever is causing it would be at either or somewhere in between.”

Angela smiled, her red hair cascading over his shoulder as she turned to look at the display as well. ”So…planning on leaving the troops with the APC then?”

His arm tightened around her, ”Me? No, we, Red.” He glanced at the back hatch then back to the troop commander, ”Get this through the crowds and join us, we’ll be headed for Garibaldi first.”

The man nodded, radioing the rest of the team as Daken opened the rear hatch. People surged toward it before both he and then Angela stepped out. He was less flamboyant than she, especially as her wings unfolded and stretched out. ”Ahhhh…yes. That was a spacious vehicle but this is so….much better.”

The word of their presence spread like waves from the back of the APC, the people nearest trying to back away the fastest, especially a Daken let his claws extend and retract a few times, smiling at the pain of it. Angela snorted, shaking her head. ”Of course you want me to carry you, I’m sure.” she said teasingly.

”Okay then, hang on dear.” Her wings snapped out, she leaped forward, and she scooped him up in a lover’s carry, one arm around his back, the other under his knees.

Daken laughed loudly, his arm going around Angela’s back, under her wings, as she soared into the sky, dodging the falling debris and rocks. ”Smartass, you know she’s going to see you carrying me so, at this height. And Blondie isn’t one to let slights go.” he had to say loudly through the wind of their passage.

”Counting on it, dear. Now let's go play with a statue.”
