I have the dawn of the Jedi Epic collection & was waiting for a Comixology sale, probably around May 4th as usual, to get the first TOTJ epic cheap. But I may just hold out for the omnibus now as that will be £32 max on release.

Yes, all the omnibus that get released now on digital come out @ £32 on release.
They just did a sale where they were £18 each, but no Star Wars were included - I think they were too new.
There is usually a line wide sale each 4th May & there may be some included in that. Prices get crazy during that - Epic collections are £8. There was a sale where all the old Dark Horse omnibus editions were around £1.50 each.

Seems like the end of Hidden Empire is going to have some rather unusual lingering aftereffects.

 

Huh. Can you think of any panels or covers that were exceptions to this rule? I can't, but I'm going to go look through some old issues to check myself. I wonder if it's truly for all weapons or just blasters.

Just sharing because I thought it was interesting. I wonder what other rules there are.

Can't find a sample of the images online, but panels in Star Wars (2015) #11 and 12 also break the rule, with both Han and Leia pointing their blasters at the reader at different times. Maybe that rule was put in place more recently?

 

The first rule about discussing rules in Star Wars is that there are no rules.

 

Maybe it is more recent but I am sure it has been done quite often. Not that big of a deal though as it wouldn't be difficult at all to work around. To be honest though I am sure 99% of readers wouldn't have even noticed if they did or did not.

Are we sure that there is only a year gap between ESB and ROTJ?

 

We are, and as of the current Hidden Empire storyline we are maybe at the halfway mark or so. (It's a little difficult to hammer out exactly how much time is passing with everything going on across all the different series, but in any event we're still several months away from ROTJ.)

 

I love the idea of the next crossover after this being advertised with the tagline "Then it comes for the muddle."

 

Seems like the droid revolution is on its way.

 

Hmmm...given all the discussion around the treatment of droids lately it would be awkward if the droid revolution were just straight up bad guys who get crushed and ignored, though what we know of later canon doesn't seem to give them any room for success...

 

So, how are you all getting on with the Marvel event overkill approach? As this'll be the fourth one in succession.

My expectation is the Hidden Empire aftermath arc ends, cue the droud crossover which concludes the current set of volume 2 ongoing series.

 

Would this new crossover end with beginning of the end of the pre-ROTJ stories.?

 

It is still the Imperial Era, so droids can be not outright evil, and still get crushed by the Empire mercilessly, and info about revolution being covered up.

 

HAN: So, Leia, tell me everything that happened while I was in carbonite.

I've always assumed that they cut the second Dr Aphra omnibus (issues 1-25 of v2) where they did because it's about the halfway point (allowing for a third omnibus to catch up to ROTJ) of the current series. I'd lean towards all the series wrapping up around issues 50-55.
