I hope they avoid the OT and its general era including Jakku for a good few years.

do something in the PT or something between the 100 years from phase III to the acolyte. Just give the OT a rest in comics for a year or two. Give it room to breathe. But I think Jakku is likely next. They love using Luke, Han, Leia and the crew. It will be hard to give that up

    Fair points.

They could always spread things out. While a big chunk of the comics are ot era, there are already a few exceptions even outside of the High Republic comics, so they could keep a line or two focused on the main cast while doing more stories in other eras.

IMO just do one ongoing in the ST or PT that would be enough variety. My point is more that all the ongoing outside THR which isn’t really an ongoing so much as it is a collection of 20 issues.

One ongoing per era? But how will Marvel get enough money out of you all?

    I know! More $10 issues.

High Republic was the best selling series Marvel had during Phase I (it still very well might be as they stopped providing regular sales reports ever since they changed the shipping providers all around) so it stands to reason there is a legitimate audience for new material.

Would make complete sense to allow Marvel to carve their own mark somewhere in the timeline of the 20,000 years that are available within the Old Republic. There is enough time available to tell whatever story they wanted to tell and still fit it altogether with whatever else Old Republic related we might get in the future. It could be something strictly for Marvel to do and could just be a story that could wrap up within twenty to twenty five issues if it needed to.

Have a series like that along with the likely post RotJ material they plan on doing.

They’ll somehow still figure out how to do crossovers.

I don’t know if we have numbers for each individual issue but the thinking is people who wouldn’t read say Bounty Hunters would now read bounty hunters to get the complete story of Aphra or whatever

Always hard to get reliable data but that Marvel have been doing multiple events since 2004 and have done four SW ones in short succession suggests they do get a sales bump from them.

What will be interesting to see is what they plan on doing with Vader once all these current series wrap up. Vader is just as marketable as Luke, Han, and Leia are but has a far more limited time period where he can be a main character in a series. Do they put Vader on the shelf for awhile or immediately start up a series about him again?

    Will be interesting to see.

If they do, it will have to be sometime between like 16 and 1 BBY but my question is what can you really do with him that hasn’t been explored in his three series?

You can have one with him as he hunts Jedi, dealing with early Rebel groups.

Three ongoings, at least one mini-series, easily gets to +100 issues of Vader. It's a fair Q as to what is left to tell.

Like I’m sure they could squeeze one or two more series out of that 16-1BBY area but I don’t know if that would actually be worth it from a storytelling perspective

I think if they want to do war Vader stuff, they should probably limit themselves to mini series

What about instead of Darth Vader. We get a comic run of Anakin Skywalker. Before The Clone Wars starts. We see how he deals with his emotions and darkness as Obi Wan's padawan. He is ftrustated with his master in ATOC and with Palpatine's whispers he is more wounrable to dark side. And like i Vader runs we get hints of Anakin. I am Anakin comic run we get hints of Vader. Similar to how Ahsoka saw him in the one dream scene.

Anakin is more interesting when the writer stops themselves from doing the whole: THIS KID IS GOING TO BE DARTH VADER, GOT IT? Yeah, that.

Charles Soule said he was working on a new project Star Wars related and he said it's been something he has wanted to do for awhile. Hard to predict what it would be though since he has worked in pretty much every era explored so far in the new canon.

I wouldn’t mind a Darth Maul ongoing series to replace Vader. They’d probably get a decent stint of multiple series out of it considering Maul was active pre-TPM, TCW and post-RotS.

You got plenty of storytelling of Maul as a compelling character as he becomes Gosfather for what 10-15 years. Not mutch you can do with Maul pre-TPM.

I think that 10 year period where Maul is still controlling the criminal underworld during the empire period could be really interesting.

You could get a lot out of it.

Really if the old EU has taught me anything it’s that Maul can work surprisingly well in a protagonist role without compromising his characterisation.

Not true, his apprenticeship under Sidious has a lot of potential. If they take a page from Legends Maul could have been used a blunt instrument against several of Palpatine’s political and criminal opponents.
