Amph Marvel's Luke Cage

I am totally surprised that this show's second season appears to feature a main conflict both caused and resolved by doing karate. Truly a poignant and timely message to the black community today.

 

I mean, the Trailer looks good. But, it's bogged down for me by the baggage of

The tremendously bad Iron Fist that I only watched for the sake of completeness before watching Defenders
The underwhelming Defenders that I am thankful was brief, that had enough enjoyable moments to make the quick watch not feel like a chore
The terribly uninteresting Punisher that I couldn't get past episode 2 on, and am not sure I'm motivated to return to and try again
The bland and Mediocre Jessica Jones Season 2 that I finished because I kept hoping it would get better.

Netflix / Marvel have squandered up a lot of their good will with me.

 

honestly iron fist and the defenders completely killed it for me. haven't even been able to give punisher or jj season 2 a chance and i'm not sure i ever will.

 

I'm a Marvel stan, but same.

 

FOMO is why I watch these shows.

I hate watched Iron Fist and grind through season one of Luke Cage. Thankfully, The Defenders was only eight episodes, but probably still four episodes too long and the "third act" was a big time let down.

The trailer for season two of Luke Cage does look more energetic than the previous season as Luke himself is more energetic and outgoing. Additionally the villain looks more engaging and promising.

 

I like this new clip of Luke Cage as he's mingling with the people in the neighborhood. It's definitely a stark contrast to Jessica Jones and provides that "friendly neighborhood Spidey" element. Of course, it's pretty meta of what fans/audience think Luke Cage should do with his powers.

I'm been like what I've seen of Luke Cage season two because it lighter in tone as it doesn't appear to have the morose melodrama element.

 

I actually liked The Punisher, probably the most since the first half of DD season 2, and before that the first half of LC.

 

When does it start to get good? Because I couldn't get into it at two episodes and I'm not inspired to go back and give it another try.

Everyone is expecting this for season three of Daredevil.

 

Luke Cage season two latest trailer:


I did not watch it myself since season two drops on Friday. So, I'll most likely binge most of the season over the weekend.

So far, it has an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the consensus being:

 

Inspired? Yes.

Panel for panel? Not going to happen.

 

Yeah, Born Again is not going to be a panel for panel adaption, unless there's a drastic turn in Karen's character, among other things. But, Daredevil has earned alot of good will with the stories they've produced. He was good in The Defenders, the ending and payoff just wasn't any good.

Reportedly, there won't be a season two for The Defenders. I think the ratings were pretty bad.

And reportedly, when the first season of Luke Cage debut, Netflix crashed. Let's see if that happens again this weekend.

. Lots of dangling plot lines from season 1 were tied up nicely. With a new status quo for Luke at the end. Has anyone noticed the season ending trends of all the Netflix Marvel shows. Daredevil, Jessica Jones and now Luke Cage all end season 2 with the heroes isolated and cutoff from their normal supporting characters because of idealogical differences. Foggy, Karen, Trish, Malcolm and now Claire and Misty. It makes me think Iron Fist season 2 ends with Danny and Colleen separated. And Punisher season 2 ends with Madani, Karen and Curtis ready to turn Frank in.

 

So I’ve been hearing this is stellar. Can anyone confirm?
