Yeah, this month of May (and April before it) didn't quite go as planned fanfic-wise. But hey, I won that big court case that somehow fell into my lap when my colleague dropped out, and I have my monthly child-free weekend starting tonight, so I might be able to do some catch-up tomorrow and Sunday.

I didn't get anything accomplished either. Even my newest story (Life Found A Way) ended up getting deleted, since I put one I deleted (The Lady Awakens) when I got back into Thorin and the Hobbit movies for a short time and was thinking of sending Marida back (but have nixed the idea in support of keeping Marida and Owen together, since she's been through enough) to Middle-earth back in. Since I'm busy with other hobbies (mostly playing Jurassic World: Evolution, since I didn't realize when I first played it that I was doing it wrong by placing the Expedition Center inside the enclosure on Isla Matanceros, but I was just imitating what someone was doing on a YouTube walkthrough, which also means that they also were doing it wrong. I can't remember who the YouTuber was, but it wasn't anyone I watch on a regular basis, since they place it in the proper place outside the enclosure), I just didn't get around to it (though I may have to rewatch the movies first, so that I get Owen's character and dialogue right).

I want to send all of the hugs and well wishes to everyone who's struggling with DRL this month! Even the small victories are to be celebrated - even if that just means wanting to find the drive to work on a goal - and I'm rooting for every single one of you. [:D]

As for myself, this has been a strange month, with bouts where I don't even open a word document for days, to spurts where I am surprisingly productive. Over the last week, I have been able to work on my Angsty 50 Sentences and The Hour of Feeling, though I'll have to see about actually finishing either of them before the 1st. But, at the very least, my muse has had a completely one-track mind and managed to kick out a total of 10,144 words on A Kingdom Where My Love Can Stand. So, um, needless to say, I achieved that goal. :p (Now I just need to pry her away from that fic to work on my other goals. 8-})

Towards my review goal, I have 4 more to add for a total of 6, with: [Stranger Things] Open Every Door by @amidalachick; [Virgin Queen] Regal Moves by @WarmNyota_SweetAyesha; and [A:TLA] Ash Dynasty and I Discover Great Deceptions and Truth by @devilinthedetails [face_love]

I have a long weekend for once and am parking myself with my computer for a while because I have several things so close to being ready to post.

A busy weekend but I will be able to finish my story. Today we have 'bunker-dag' All the bunkers of the Atlantic wall built in the Netherlands by the Nazi's are open for visits today. I am showing the visitors the 'radar-bunker' in Wijk aan Zee.

Reviewed For Whom the Sun Rises and Sets by @devilinthedetails ; I think that's 5/5. At least I've finished my small review goal for the month! :) I definitely can sympathize with everyone who's having trouble meeting their goals. So far my progress has been nil since the last little batch of writing. Hopefully I'll get something done this weekend

All righty, index updated! :) Continuing to send good vibes and hugs to everyone suffering with writer’s block, lack of motivation, or just plain old RL swampiness. Every little bit counts, whether writing or reviewing, and indeed every little bit more than just counts—every little bit is a victory worth celebrating! And if it leads to a check mark in our index, then great—but even if it doesn’t it’s still progress and still something to be proud of! [:D]

Congratulations @Mira_Jade and @Kahara for your newest writing and reviewing check marks! [face_party] For my own part, whether I achieve any writing check marks this month remains to be seen, but I am close to my review goal now: I am up to 9 out of 10 with @Chyntuck ’s The Pilgrimage. So that one I think I can manage—as to writing, we’ll just see how things go with the upcoming US Memorial Day long weekend. Fingers crossed! As they are for everyone here. [face_peace]

I found an easier way to find deleted stories from Ao3: Yandex search engine! I just put the following into the search engine: lifefoundaway island_queen chapter1 and presto! I had to then go to the three dots next to the first result and clicked on saved copy and there it was. This is also how I located The Lady Awakens (though this one just showed up when I clicked the first result; not so much with the latest story, though it is in the archive somewhere). So perhaps I can put this story back in (though I'm not sure if I'll get to the second chapter in a week, we'll just have to wait and see). Someone on reddit suggested to try the Yandex search engine as a faster way to retrieve deleted stories, since finding them in the archive can take a while (especially if the story is on the second page, since you don't know which screenshot it's saved under so it might take a while to find it). Perhaps I should have continued with this story before trying to continue on with the older ones.

Even though I had this goal deleted, perhaps I should have waited to put the prologue chapter in, since it can take me a while to get to any additional chapters, so at least that's something. And since this story actually had kudos and a comment, perhaps I should hold off on the older ones (at least for the time being), since the newer one is set after Jurassic World: Dominion, which is only a few years old (although my main characters go back to Isla Nublar, but that's besides the point).

@earlybird-obi-wan @Gabri_Jade @ViariSkywalker great work! =D= I’ve got your progress recorded in the index. :)

@Force of Light, a word, if I may? While the other mods and I are happy for your creative pursuits, we’re having difficulty seeing the relevance of many of your recent posts to the express purpose of WIP Month. This thread is for reporting progress on your stated WIP Month goals and for encouraging other participants to do the same. But you have already said you do not intend to meet the goals you’ve set, or to post the results of your work here—you even asked to have a goal deleted from the index, which is something we don’t normally do. Posts discussing unrelated story ideas, or subjects such as your gaming endeavors or your progress on sites like AO3, are not what this thread is for. I would ask that you keep any future posts to strictly reporting your progress on your goals, or engaging with the community about their endeavors to do the same. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out by PM. Thanks!

    One more review today:

    3. Finding the Right, Best Path by @WarmNyota_SweetAyesha

I really want to try and meet my review goal, and if I'm really lucky, finish one more oneshot that's almost there but RL has a way of not making it easy. Sending all my support and best wishes to everyone! [face_good_luck][:D]

@Chyntuck @amidalachick @devilinthedetails and @Mira_Jade you are all updated! Looking very good, and I too am sending all my best vibes of encouragement and productivity (of whatever sort) in this last week of our challenge. We’re with each other all the way, no matter how things may wind up! [:D]

As for me, even though writing is still going slow, I’ve at least now managed to achieve my review goal with my tenth review, which is on devil’s delightful I Discover Great Deceptions and Truths. So I am feeling pretty good about that! I’m going to aim for a nice writing day on my Memorial Day holiday tomorrow; we shall just see how that goes!

In happy news for WIP Month, I changed direction on my Angsty 50 Sentences fic and managed to get the whole story loosely blocked in! I need to clean them up and flesh them out before I can call them complete, but this is a goal I think I can finish by the end of the month now, which is all sorts of exciting. I also hunkered down today and opened up my file for Now You're a Home for the first time since last WIP Month, and wrote 1,004 words on the next chapter. I am definitely calling that a victory, for sure.

Lastly, after reviewing How to avoid swimming practice by @earlybird-obi-wan and The Pilgrimage by @Chyntuck I am up to 9/10 on my review goal! That leaves just one more left, which I know I can do by Friday.

I’m not going to finish my goal for the Death Star attack, thanks to bad migraines. But I’m wrapping up my vignettes for posting and have just the 2000-word update for a story to go after that.

Wonderful progress, folks! I've just updated the index. I too have some happy WIP Month news in that I've managed to finish one more Mini-Games-prompt-based one-shot; it still has to be beta'd and posted before I can officially consider it done, but it is a wonderful feeling all the same!

@Gabri_Jade , if I may ask just one question by way of clarification? You just said 386 words on "Coming Home," but I previously had you down for 531 words on that one. Does the 386 represent that you added 386 more words to make a total of 917? Or is 386 your new total as a result of taking some words out? Just wondering so I can make the index as correct as possible; thanks. :)

I have made tremendous progress on my first attempt at writing a FF, after being encouraged to do so by our community here somewhere between 5-8 years ago. I'm pleased to report that seeing this thread today reminded me and I thought about it.

RL is still being RL but I've managed one more review:

    4. Rise of the Rebellion by @JediMaster_Jen

And there are still two days left in May so I'm trying to keep a little optimism here. :p
