Hey, I'll bite.

Anyone else having some interesting times due to COVID-19? I live in the Seattle area and I've never seen anything like this before.

Good thing I've got Disney+ right now.

Nothing unusual going on here, except some empty shelves in the supermarket.
We'll see if things will settle down or escalate in the coming months, I guess.

But yes, streaming services FTW!

 

I am SO sorry to hear you don't have Disney+ yet. June will be here before you know it.

Just random odd things are happening here. We have a toilet paper shortage and most of us are telecommuting from home who can. I work for a public agency, so can't stop working onsite. There is virtually no traffic at all, at any time, and most of the restaurants/museums/libraries/schools have closed. It is so hard not to have things to do after work outside of the home. It gets really old working in my yard or cleaning my house yet again. I go for walks in places that aren't crowded but it just isn't the same.

One positive note though - it has driven me to start writing again. My son has started drawing (he's pretty good!) and is writing a short story. He is out of school for 7 weeks and so far is handling it pretty well.

 

Why are people hoarding toilet paper? How did that particular bubble get started?

 

Unknown - it is so darned strange. Never seen anything like this before. Canned goods, bottled water, yes. Toilet paper is the thing right now. You have to get to the store early in the morning and wait in line to get your share, if you get any at all. It's similar to WW2 in a sense. My gut feeling is people feel less panicky if they have a huge stockpile of tp. It's like their security blanket. Well, that's my two cents. What do I know? I'm a SW fan, not a psychiatrist.

 

As I understand it, there was a rumor that China exports huge amounts of TP and that supplies would be halted by the covid virus. So somebody panicked and bought a big supply, and the panic spread. But the truth is that most countries make their own TP, not that much gets shipped across borders.

 

I hadn't heard that, Sarge. Interesting. I've also heard that gun and bullet sales are increasing. Gulp.

 

Soon there will be post-apocalyptic toilet paper raiders.

I mean, things are already almost that weird.

 

Even the word ****** is censored today.

It's like something out of Catch-22.
