Members of Satyricon Arrested on Rape Charges

SATYRICON guitarists Steinar Gundersen and A.O. Gronbech were arrested and charged in Canada for drugging and raping a woman in the band's tour bus after a concert in Toronto.

"I can confirm that the Norwegian consul in Toronto has been in contact with the arrestees, and followed up by, among other things, visiting them in jail and obtaining legal assistance," said Anne Lene Dale Sandstein, press officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to Norwegian TV 2 Nettavisen.

According to Canadian police, the crimes were committed after SATYRICON had performed at the club Fun Haus in Toronto last Tuesday (Dec. 14), reported the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet.

"A woman from Toronto explained that she went with the two Norwegian musicians to their tour bus," said Kristin Bacharach at the Toronto police to the paper. There she was reportedly drugged and sexually assaulted.

Bacharach confirmed that the two musicians have been arrested and are charged. DNA tests have been taken. If found guilty, the two musicians may be sentenced to ten years in prison.

As a result of the musicians' arrests, the remaining dates on SATYRICON's North American tour with 3 INCHES OF BLOOD (including a New York show) were cancelled.

You can look at this from several viewpoints.

One - she willingly went with them and afterwards decided to press charges hoping to get a settlement.

Two - She truly was a victim. In that case the 2 accused deserve punishment.

Three- They should know to keep their private parts private. How dumb can they be? Same case over and over again.

Satyricon are a black metal band from Norway.

The two members were Seesion musicians, for gigging.

On the Cradle of Filth forums, people think that:

"There are always groupies around, asking for it. They probably said yes, and then she had them arrested afterwards, looking to make an extra bob or two."

As I said Chris, the ones arrested were Session musicians.

Satyricon is Satyr and Frost. Frost does drums and Satyr does Vocals, Guitar (x2), bass and keyboards.

But obviously he can't do it all at the same time, so they need session musicians.

They should have known better. More idiots giving the black metal circle a bad name. Thank god they were just studio musicians, and not Frost or Satyr. Even if she wanted it or not, this is a good lesson for all us up and coming musicians-You are not above the law, unless you are OJ Simpson, and you had better keep your eyes on the business at hand. I hope they have fun in prison! Stupid *************.

 

It could just be the girl trying to get a settlement, but it could be that they actually raped her. Either way, it's sad

But, Frost wasn't there anyway. He wasn't allowed into America because he had a Criminal Record. They had Slipknot's Joey Jordison standing in. So it was really Satyr and Session Musicians for the entire tour.

 

This may come across as a little ignorant, (I'm certainly not denying that rapes happen), but there is a double standard and loop-hole for women in our society. If a women isn't happy that she slept with someone, or even wants to make a profit on soiling their names, all they have to do is claim rape, and 99% of the time, the law will side with the woman. I don't understand how things like this are allowed to happen.
