Memorable lines from the PT

One of the recurrent complaints I've heard about the PT is that the dialogue stinks and isn't as snappy as the OT and that there are no really memorable lines. I disagree. The dialogue is quite different since the PT focuses on a higher strata of characters (politicians, warriors, religious leaders, queens and senators, etc. vs. farm boy, smuggler, rebellious princess, etc.) so I think that kind of "pedestrian" dialogue in the OT would be totally out of place in the PT.

However, I disagree totally that there aren't memorable one-liners in the PT. I had plenty stuck in my head when I left the theaters.

For me they were (and I'm not indicating film or scene... you'll know them):

* "Why do I sense we've taken on another pathetic life form?"

* "You were right, Master. The negotiations were short."

* "There's always a bigger fish."

* "You assume too much."

* "We shall watch your career with great interest."

* "I hate it when he does that."

* "No, he said for you to stay with me... and I'm going to help Obi-Wan."

* "I'm just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe."

* "This weapon is your life."

* "Good job!"

* "This party's over."

* "You want to go home and re-think your life."

Anyone have any other one-liners from either TPM or AOTC to add to this list?

 

"Oh, not good"

"Blast! This is why I hate flying!"

"Good job"

"Always a pleasure to meet a Jedi"

"This is outrageous!"

There are dozens and dozens more - Lucas knows how to write memorable dialogue

 

It's likely some of these are incorrectly quoted, but you should immediately recognize them:

"Have you ever met a Jedi before?"

"No one can kill a Jedi."

"This battle cannot be decided by our knowledge of the Force, but by our skills with lightsabers."

"Begun, this Clone War has."

"His abilities have made him, well, arrogant."

"We live in a real world, come back to it."

"Around the survivors, a perimiter create!"

"Anakin, Anakin, NOOOOOOOOOOO..."

"I am a slow learner."

"We are keepers of the peace, not soldiers."

"I hate sand. It's rough and coarse and gets everywhere... unlike you."

"That is the sound of a thousand terrible things coming this way."

"They'll blast us, crush us and grind us to little pieces!"

"Yippee!"

"Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering..."(I may have horribly misquoted this one.)

"We will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. We will finally have revenge."

"This is a mistake, a horrible mistake."

"I have work to do."

"Droids creating droids? How perverse."

"What a drag."

"Peace!"

(Quoting from memory, so some of these may be slightly off.)

"Mesa Jar Jar Binks. Whosa are yousa?"

"Yippee!"

"That's so wizard!"

"I don't care what galaxy you live in, that's gotta hurt!"

"I hate sand. It's rough and irritating and it gets everywhere."

"I wish I could just wish my feelings away."

Those quotes are memorable for the wrong reasons, though.

 

But still memorable

 

"As you can see, my Jedi powers are far beyond yours. Now, back down."

I must agree. That is one of my favorite lines in one of my favorite scenes in the whole saga.

My favourite is the scene where Obi-Wan is arguing with Aakin in front of Padme.

"We will find out who's trying to kill you Padme, I promise."
"We will not exceeed our mandate my young Padawan learner."
"I meant it in the interest of protecting her Master, of course."
"We will not go through this excecise again Anakin... and you will pay attention to my lead!"
"Why?"
"What?"
"Why else do you think we were assigned to protect her if not to find the killer? Protection is a job for the local security, not Jedi. It's overkill Master, investigation is implied in our mandate."
