Bollocks. The usual excuses will apply from the politicians, record level of funding etc etc - except it's known to be insufficient, and that was before covid hit.

OK, not great, but would you want to be in a hospital currently? What can they offer other than a bed, a drip, and some sleepers? They can’t do the necessary work of a rehab or treatment centre - and they require referrals. Most likely they also have waiting lists (also, are they even currently open?).

There are still moves here. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again - consider a 12 step program in the interim. It’s free, widely available. Gives your day a focal point around like-minded people in a real world environment. We can all help too, but we are an internet-based support network - there is a difference.

Chew, the rest is up to you. You can come visit me if you like. ****, I’ll even go meetings with you if you’re unsure - trust me I know my way around the rooms.

Also, please tell me you didn’t smash your PS4?

Smashed my glasses once, it was the closest thing I had to squash in hand... Which was sort-of inconvenient since I can't see without them and resumed work two days later x)

It was that or smash the guy who was telling me about his night with a woman he knew I was interested in.

I used to love the old Siemens phone... you could throw it, and it would explode into pieces and I could put it back together just fine...

I've received emails from some treatment centres in the area that have sent me leaflets and expressed interest in my case. But you're right, there's waiting lists and hospital beds should be free for more important cases. (It's why I tried to do a runner before I ended up with a police escort keeping me in the ward overnight. I felt guilty taking the bed up.)

I said to Harps, I feel I'm going to take you up on the offer to help me break the ice at a rehab meeting. It's an intimidating idea, but I feel it would help me come out of my shell a little more than not at all.

To be fair, I was able to fix it. Mostly dinged the faceplate and dislodged the HDMI output. Works fine now though.

That aside, my games consoles survived the wrath.

I feel much better knowing Punk can be there in person to support you, since I wish I could.

Lol. Punk’s going back in the rooms. Could probably do with a step 4 update.

    It’s been a while.

Sorry to do this again. I understand that a lot of you are facing much worse, as I’ve read.

I’ve felt my nervous tics again more frequently, and they seem coupled with anger problems. I’ve found myself involuntarily swearing in place of sentences, usually when I feel overwhelmed sensory wise. It happened at work yesterday, so it’s not something I can just turn off.
Today I went out for a run, but I felt too depressed to continue, mixed with my tics and sudden anger for no reason.
I’m going to try and see if social interaction IRL and eating something will help.

    Sorry to do this.

Is it safe for you to socially interact IRL right now? In a socially distanced way? Not sure where you live.

Why are you apologizing? There's no need.

With that out of the way, have you ever been treated for anxiety?

Don't be sorry. We're not competing for attention here. The point of this thread is to be able to come for support when you need it - and if you're asking for support despite feeling lousy about it, you clearly need it.

Will second Harpua on the question about anxiety - what you describe reads a lot like how my own anxiety can manifest nowadays.

You should not be sorry, @Emperor Ferus .

Do you have any grounding techniques that have been useful in he past?

I’ve taken meds for depression, but they made me feel worse so I stopped. I’ve seen various therapists, but I haven’t since Covid started.

@Princess_Tina Usually I try to engage in a comforting activity. I felt a little better talking to people at work a few minutes ago, but the negative feelings started to come back afterwards.

I’m going to try watching something funny next I think. That has helped before

I live in California. My workplace is in walking distance and is considered an “essential service” so there are people I know there about any time of day. (I work retail)

Gotcha, then I guess you have to socialize at work. But keep careful out there in CA, I know lots of parts of it are bad right now.

And yeah, I will echo that you absolutely shouldn't apologize! I have anxiety so I know what you feel.

A lot of people give up when a med "doesn't work", when what needs to happen is an adjustment to the dosage or change to a different medication. Most therapists and psychiatrists are doing phone or online sessions now, as well

Yeah it takes a while to get the right meds, and even then they don't work forever sometimes.
