'tis 12:47 Monday 25th Feb. Had my 3 lectures for the day. Rest of day = off.

GAW DAMN I LOVE UNI. (thus far)

Wednesday = best day. One 8:30am lecture and that's it! pretty sweet.

I just saw that Kitt posted. I miss those looooong MSN chats starting from about 8:30 and going until b|00dy 1 or 2am. By about the 3rd or 4th I got sick of the late nights, and some times would not say hi - as I thought it would go on and on

Gotta read a book and do a reveiw on it. Choose one about Human evo. For 'Evo. Bio' - so it should be an ok read - and I have a while to read it, but I think I'll put the ol' SW book down for a bit.

Ah, Wednesday tomorrow - 1 lecture - then whole day off. Love it!

Lisa/Kitt: What's BIO101? straight Biology?

BIOS109 was a sweet lecture the other day as he was talking about Evo. which I had just done in BIOS112 - but BIOS112 was more in-depth so BIOS109 was a cruisy 50mins

I almost felt like telling the lecturer that he was wrong about what he said about C. Darwin - but I held it in

 

Bio 101 is the biology core paper at Auckland. There are four units: cell biology, genetics, evolution and biochemistry. Everyone taking any bio papers past stage 1 has to do it.

The most interesting stage 1 bio paper I did was one called 'comparative animal biology'. It was an in depth look at animal evolution, dinosaurs, marsupials, the cambrian animals . . . fun stuff. The only part I didn't like was the dissection. I still wish they'd given us gas masks. Ah well, you can't have everything.

I've heard some pretty crazy stuff in lectures, but arguing with a lecturer is about as nerdy as you can get -OO-. Usually it happens when a lecturer starts talking about areas outside their field of expertise. Like we had this lecturer once who said Darwin didn't publish his theories earlier because he was afraid of being burnt at the stake. He'd got his centuries a little confused, but then that's what happens when scientists talk history.

e: book reviews? Did you get to choose any book? The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins is a great read, and helped me a lot throughout my evolution studies.

Yea there was about 70 books - first in first served and that Richard Dawkins one was taken. I choose:

"The origin on mankind" - Richard Leakey (so something)

not bad so far. I really enjoyed Human Evo. in 7BIO and so this sounded good enough.

Only doing three papers in the first semester--four in the second. I went through a lot of trouble to get into HUMANBIO 122 cause I still want to do pharm next year. Sometimes I wonder why I'm putting myself through this.
