Tim, I leave for Florida for the meeting I'm coordinating on tomorrow and won't return until late next Thursday night. I'm sure you guys will have fun in Walls. 8-} Anyway, good luck and let me know how it turns out!

A table would be easy to do- a white tablecloth, some memorabilia {I KNOW someone has some} to make it interesting to see, perhaps some photos of previous events and costumes? {I can make very good posters, if someone will provide the photos} A flier, and here's an idea. You can get some el cheapo pens with the blazon on them for like 100 for 5 or6 bucks. Why not invest and hand out?
The RPG is a great idea, if someone has some pre-fabs. Even a couple--I doubt there will be more than a few Star Wars groups there- the con will be saturated with anime, Star Trek, and D & D, for instance. Someone should probably bring Star Munchkin.
A panel would be interesting, especially if Skip can accomodate. However, do we have enough material to keep the panel occupied? If not, perhaps we need to open the panel for more than just costume. Perhaps an open debate panel? I don't know on that one.
These three will be enough to plan in the short time of a month. The costume contest...I'm not sure. If someone wants to do costume with skit, the lastest that we should probably mention it would be within the next week. Anything later is probably going to be shoddy workmanship. (Skits, like lightsabers, take time to perfect.)
    Well there's my 2 cents {more like 6 bucks}
    Course, anything's great with me.

    Joy

That's why Sal is the official muscle of the SMT. :p

I bought mine last week. I got all the options, including the buffet which I may or may not use. (I have to be absolutely starving to eat buffet food. Anything with a sneeze guard usually kills my appetite.) It cost me $51.00 for the total package.

The word from today's meeting is that admission for anyone doing a panel is five dollars on the day of their panel.

Also, we confirmed that we have Michael Sheard as our moderator for Friday night's panel. We also have the booth for both Saturday and Sunday.

They asked if we have anything to contribute to the charity auction. If anyone has anything they're willing to sacrifice, then let me or Rhonda know ASAP so we can inform the Con Committee.

I will be posting a sign-up sheet/thread soon with time blocks for the booth for Saturday and Sunday. I will also be finalizing the list of those who plan to go to St. Jude, those who are planning on donating platelets for St. Jude, and those who will be on the panel.

Also, there is a costuming forum scheduled for 3pm on Saturday, March 29th. Anyone interested should let me know so I can get you in touch with the Con Committee. There is also one on collecting, so the same goes there.

As for the panel: Those who plan to be on it should also plan for a dry-run on Saturday, March 22, probably late afternoon or early evening. We will need all material contributed by Saturday, March 15th so it can be incorporated into the presentation discs that Rhonda and I are putting together. There will be a planning thread for this as well.

Finally, I want to publicly thank Sal and Tim for all their hard work on the flyer, booth, banner, T-shirts, and raffle tickets, as well as the support they've given in the planning of our role in this year's MidSouthCon. We wouldn't be anywhere near ready for this without them.

Now, let's get ready to rumble, y'all!!!

Thanks to Rhonda & Tim for showing up to the meeting. I for one was glad to see you there.

And I see that the MidSouthCon forum is becoming less of a ghost town than it has in the past. It was pretty bad. I'm amazed at how active this forum is.

FYI, I just found out today that the Frank Kelly Freas slide show/panel is being shortened from 90 mintes to 60 minutes (20 minutes slides, 20 minutes Q&A, 20 minutes reviewing artists' portfolios). This was per the request of the Artist guest of Honor; Frank Kelly Freas is getting up there in years. But for any budding artists out there, this is an ideal chance to get your drawings looked over by a multi-award-winning artist. The Freas panel is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 1pm-2pm.

Does the $35.00 ticket access for the whole con are just for one day? I assume its for the whole con.

Yes, $35 is for Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. There will be one-day memberships available at the time of the convention for those who are unable or choose not to attend the con the entire weekend. I don't remember what prices were last year, but my guess is that it was something like $10 or $15 for Friday, $25 for Saturday, & $10 for Sunday.

Skip, costuming panel is on Saturday at 3 o'clock. We were told this past Saturday, that they have a spot for you on the panel. Micheal K., could you confirm this for me?

Michael, it sounds like you and Skip just need to get together on the details. The con folks said they were having trouble with email.

Skip, could you post on the Volunteer sign up sheet who'll you'll bring, etc. None of our guys are doing the costume panel, I don't think. We told them you guys had some pretty good costumes, they are looking forward to hearing from you guys on the panel, and meeting the entire 501st.

right now i have the following planning on attending

plus a few more unconfirmed.we already have reservations but havent bought tickets because i have no idea what is going on.

we had originally planned on being there sat. and sun. but now may have to concentrate our efforts on sat.some of us have to get back sunday.therefore we may just buy sat. tickets and spend the entire day trooping, then participate in sat. night's happenings.
we would love to be able to escort micheal sheard to his panel and possibly do some guard duty at his autograph booth.

if we were allowed a table for the day we can set up our stuff.
i just need some confirmation from someone.

    thanks

Skip: Watch your PM box. I'll send you Dana Bridges personal email address. She can put you in touch with the right people. Also, go to the MidSouthCon's message board. Michael Kingsley can be found there as well.

    MSC Message Board

Trust me, they could use some experienced costumers like yourself and your comrades. (They were also asking if anyone had a vacu-forming table at the meeting. I think they had a demonstration in mind, but I'm speculating.)

actually we can do a vacuumform display box made from a cardboard box. i have real trooper armor molds i can bring and we can use a plastic bag to create the armor.sounds odd but it works great for display purposes.if we are indeed part of the panel we may bring that, heck i may bring it anyway to show people at our table.

Skip, have you been using info@midsouthcon.org, or a different e-mail address? Dana Bridges is a doctor in the Jackson area and works an average of 60-80 hrs/week, which might explain why she has not got in touch with you yet. The "info" e-mail address goes to her.

I will be going to Cleveland on business this Monday (03/17/03), so you may want to contact Carlin Stuart at crstuart@lunaweb.net. He is friends with Michelle Ransom, who is hosting the costuming panel at 3pm Saturday. Unfortunately, I don't have her e-mail address. I use Carlin as my contact with her. But he has asked Michelle if stormtroopers can crash her panel, and she has said yes. Just give Carlin the names.

I will check my e-mails periodically from Cleveland next week.
