Who is the most overrated star wars character?
Mace Windu. Change my mind.
@Clankers in pyjamas. Moving to Star Wars Saga forum, where this discussion is more appropriate. Also editing title to better reflect purpose of the thead.

Boba Fett by far, I refuse to respond if that's not an option. He is not even a factor, anywhere.
Alternatively Kylo Ren or Finn or Poe. Either failures or under utilized.
Everyone else in the poll is an amazing character.
Voted for Thrawn, but I also say Kylo Ren.
My vote is for General Grievous! Full of gimmickry and a mock villain just like Dooku. I was in a Toys R Us in 2005 for the midnight release party. There were kids oogling over his action figure and I snatched a Grievous right up. I took one look at that sorry face (Grievous) and felt Episode III tremors and rigidity. Grievous was my punishment for buying all the Episode III toys.
Grievous actually worked for me in Clone Wars, but the live action one was just too cartoony.
Obi-Wan out of this crew, I guess. People seem to stonecold ignore him being casually taken care of by Dooku twice far too easily for my tastes. I've not had much exposure to what the fandom was like about Grievous before RotS so I'll have to take people word for it that they ever took him seriously.
Why isn't Darth Maul on that list? Because that's who I would have gone for.
*includes mostly PT characters*
*doesn't have Boba Fett, Kylo Ren, Han Solo, Rey*
I see what game u playing.
From our perspective this is a subjective poll. The original user can not include every possible choice, and while the user probably should have incldued an "other " choice, we are not going to ascribe any negative intent for this poll. Keep the thread on topic please.
Pretty easily most of the OT characters. Luke Skywalker is probably the most overrated, with Boba Fett also being high up there. Finn is very overhyped on this board, but I don't feel like he's that popular anywhere else.
Top 5 Overrated SW Characters:
1. Luke Skywalker
2. Boba Fett
5. Darth Maul
Boba Fett. I didn't get the impression when the original films came out that he was supposed to be that important or "cool". It was only with the internet and forums that he started to get this overhyped.
Thrawn. Was I really supposed to think he was better than Vader because the author said so?
If we are going strictly on movies: Ackbar
if we are including all of canon: Ahsoka Tano.
Other. Boba Fett. Never understood why he became so popular. The Manadalorian is already to me a better developed and more interesting character.
11 year old me strongly disagrees that Boba Fett was never cool.
To be honest I never even noticed Boba Fett when I watched ESB. Then when I watched AOTC, I was confused because we see quite a bit of this little kid who I can't match up with any character from ANH or ESB. I did notice him when I finally got to ROTJ though, not because he himself stood out to me, but because I recognized that his outfit resembled Jango's.
Thrawn. Definitely for this reason. I couldn't even finish Alliances because of it.
Darth Maul and Windu, both are cool, but just overhyped and this ended with Mauls revival, which was dumb.
Hope this will not happen with Windu, too.
Phasma is also overrated. Maybe more so than Boba Fett. Perhaps on further consideration, I will change my answer to her.
Maul is overhyped and overrated because he is criminally underused and they killed him in his first movie? LOL
Maul in TPM was a one note plot device to kill off Qui-Gon and sell merchandise. He served his purpose and did not need to continue. Even though I understand the commercial reasons Lucas did it, I think introducing such an obvious villain in TPM was unnecessary anyway. The menace could have been much more understated.
The Maul that "came back" in TCW was for all practical purposes, a brand new character using Maul's name and skin. Even though I felt he was shoehorned in, they made pretty good use of him in the Eminence..Lawless arc, and even better use of him in Rebels.
I'd still call him overhyped but he was not "criminally underused."
