Hello Salt Lake, I hope you all do not mind me posting here.

My Name is Ron, I belong to the Boise Idaho FF NBO. Some members may want to head tosalt lake city this Septemeber to go to the Mountain Con. We have started looking into hotels and gas travel. any help with the local area discounts or ideas would be helpful.

the thing that makes it hard to 100% commit is CIV in May members going then in August we have a local Convention called Fandemonium to read more visit Here.

But i figure if we had 4 people 250.00- 300.00 each would be more than enough

    Gas round trip
hotel thursday, friday, saturday check out on sunday
Plus any food or spending money may be needed.

Your best bet for cheap hotels is Priceline, Expedia or one of the other online travel sites. If you're looking for good places to eat we can direct you :)

do you think it will be cheaper if i book it through the Con or should i Book it at this price.

and the Con it self will be at this same hotel?

I think it would be more reasonable to book it thru the con. Most cons get deals with the hotels they are in. Check it out.

well i got a Double queen for only 79.99 a night.

total for the hotel with tax was 267.12
    Badges for 3 day 35.00
now i just got to get some members to come with me or take the Greyhound bus it will be roundtrip 72.00
    food 60.00

i figure for the 4 days there 15 dollars a day in food should be enough, subway, wendys, etc...

so i hope to see some of you down there, will SLC FF have a table at the con?

I think we've talked about having a table. It would be so cool to have one. I'm excited for the con. I couldn't make last years but I did the year before and had fun.

I'll be there. It is my intention to have a table and to have stuff to hand out to people. Maybe we could even have star wars trivia and give away some star wars prizes. That might draw a crowd.

    Hey guys

This is Carl Stark, the Chair for Mountain-Con.

1- If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. We are here for the fans.

2- Our online registration is now active. You can register online and elect to pay online or pay via mail-in. Hurry before the rates go up on the three-day passes. Go to http://www.MountainCon.org and click on "Register Now"

3- If you can get a hotel room at the University Park Marriott, use the Convention Code of "MountainCon" This will get you discounted rooms at $79/night and it will help us sell out our room nights needed. If we can sell 200 room nights we get the convention space really cheap. You can call 800-228-9290 or go to the "Location" section on the Mountain-Con site for a direct link to the discounted rooms.

If you guys need anything (want to run a panel, need a table to promote your group, need ideas for room parties, etc.) let me know. And thank you very much for coming. We are just a bunch of fans trying to make this fun for other fans. We are not making a dime off of this.

Thanks! :) I know it's been forever since I posted on here, but I went through kind of a rough patch during the past year. I got pretty disillusioned with Fan Force stuff. I started posting again in the Denver forum about a month ago, and finally made my way back here.

YES!! Dragon*Con has become an annual trip for me. This will be my third year. WOOHOO!!! :D Is anyone else here planning on going?

[face_thinking] hmmmmmm... a room for Mountain Con might not be a bad idea, since I'm out in Draper now.

I know having a room at the hotel can help. I didn't have one for Conduit and I drove each day from Ogden. I was really wishing I had a room.

Yeah, I've done the drive from here up to the U several times, and I have to admit that I'm not exactly fond of it. It's a good 45 minutes one way, and that's in decent mid-day traffic. Driving that far when tired, and at night (which I've done before) is NOT fun.

Still, need to see what the financials are gonna be like before I jump into any solid plans just yet.

Actually, would SLCFF-ers be interested in going in on a room together? That would make the cost a lot easier to bear, and with a FF table 'n all, admission will probably be a little less (maybe? I haven't investigated that detail). Combined all together, that would make for much lower costs for several folks - depending on how many people decide to go.

Hey we have a new Star Wars actress as a guest for Mountain-Con III

Femi Taylor played Oola (Jabba's slave girl before Leia) on Return of the Jedi. She will be in attendance and also participating in our "Banquet with the Stars" to help us celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars.

Details announced soon on http://www.MountainCon.org (you can get your memberships and banquet tickets online).

Let me know if you have any questions.

Anyone else interested in going in on a room? :)

We could host a SLCFF room party on Saturday night (dry or otherwise - either way would work). One of the fun things that RMFF did at Starfest this year was to hold a '70's disco party. Yeah, that's where I got the idea to "play" disco music in the party threads. ;) Because a very interesting thing happened at that party... people actually danced! Yep, geeks were dancing! :D It was surprising and quite cool.

I think this would be a fun opportunity to show off ANY costumes that we have, too (not just SW, but also Harry Potter, Firefly/Serenity, renaissance, belly dancing, whatever you have)!

Also, is everyone interested in having a table/booth at MountainCon? (I think this is mentioned in earlier posts.) Let's start getting some ideas together!

I think it would be fun to have a room, do you only get a discount on so many nights or can it be for just one night?
