MS Update MSU/ATB 04/01 - We are moving!

    It's the time of the week for the latest news. There aren't many - neither on MS side nor on AtB side. But the fewer they are the more they weigh...

    ...and so are the following news you'll read.


    ModSquad Update:

    Mods away:

    Senate mod Lowbacca_1977 is on vacation this week.
    Coincidentally, fellow Senate mod Jabbadabbado is also on vacation. (MS doesn't have all the details, though Jabba did mention something about the Caribbean and leaving his wife at home.)

    In totally unrelated news, GARTH_MAUL is also away on vacation somewhere "on the beach."

    FanForce at Jedi-Con 2010:

    At Easter 2010 there is the fifth Jedi-Con in Düsseldorf. It is the only exclusive Star Wars Convention in Germany, hosted semi-regular by the official Star Wars Fan Club of Germany. This year's guest list includes among others Jake Lloyd, Femi Taylor, Matthew Wood and Richard LeParmentier.

    The German Speaking Fan Force (GSFF) will have a fan presence ready for the second time. A stand packed with action for children and adults. The Wookiee Cookie Wheel of Fortune will again offer free cookies in exchange for knowledge about Star Wars, while the kids can try their hand at helmets and blasters of papier mâché or colour-ins. The designs of those were supplied by Commander_Ducky. There will be reading of self-made children's books by author and artist AzureAngel2, and those who signed up for the bounty hunter game will chase each other all over the convention for three days.

    Most member of the GSFF will be meeting up at this great event, making it the possibly largest FF meeting of the year.

    I'll miss the IGN forum software, but the new one might be just as good. :)

    Will the banners change, though? I.e, differ on different boards? I hope so, because I liked making banners.

    Hopefully we will keep that functionality. I know they got banners working back when we were testing for the first move. Icons should work the same way as well.

    IGN's boards will still be around as far as I know. We just won't be using their servers or software.

    Hopefully we wuill keep the post counts. The idea is to convert the existing database to VBulletin's format.

    Then all the people who like them can think EVERYTHING is a joke, and the rest of us who hate them don't have to quintuple guess the universe for a week surrounding the day.

    That's the idea. All of the posts and user ids are held in a database. If we convert it to the vBulletin format then things should be pretty much intact. Philip Wise has a consultant to do that part.

    The goal is also to get the new boards to look and feel as much like the current system as possible. Some things may not be exactly the same, but it should be very close.
