ST Neal Scanlan only wants original aliens?

For some reason that I can't figure out in scenes in TFA and TLJ were there is a strong alien presence like at Maz's castle or Canto Bight, it seems like Scanlan only likes original aliens. species that seem to be in Lucas's 6 films like rodians, twileks, niktos, quarren, Togrutas, Zabraks, Talz, Kel Dors, Zeltrons, etc you never see. All are new. Now I don't have anything against new aliens. In fact George would put new aliens in his films too, he would just mix them up with existing aliens. Is it because the events in these films take place close to wild space? Or is there some other reason? Does Scanlan think anything weird will do? But, that would make it look like any random sci-fi universe.

 

This is close. Looking at the maps, most of 7 took place on other side of the galaxy.

 

I’m not a fan of the alien designs in the ST. The lack of aliens from I-VI isn’t very good continuity in my opinion.

The Wild Space reasoning would make sense but I doubt that their location on a map of the SW universe ever came into consideration during the making of the films. That’s probably more of a thing where Pablo Hidalgo just picked where he thought the planets would make sense to go.

 

This Thread is another proof that SW Fans don't want New stuff, but the same old over and over again.

Whats wrong about dreaming away in your favorite universe? Why does everything has to be even more shocking, twisted around, more action, etc at cost of the feeling of a franchise and deepness of a story?

whereof 2/3 of the audience says rehash/boring/nothing new but lovely made and 1/3 simply like it very much, while 3/3 looking forward on how the saga continues, rather than having 50% of the audience being totally pissed off.

If that is supposed to be Pablo's explanation it makes no sense. This is a new era in the SW universe! No, duh and what are you saying? Previous species all just died out in 30 years?

 

New AREA...not new era.

 

Thousands of star systems are populated throughout the Galaxy, so one can imagine how many different indigenous races there could be.

I love the new Alien designs. But I admit I wanna see them do a Twi'lek X-wing pilot!

 

For the sake of realism I always thought (Especially when the prequels were coming out) they should reach a point where they just redo aliens from then on. They have more than enough already.

 

What exactly is realism in a fictional galaxy?

 

I prefer hyper-surrealistic uber-realism.

 

I digged the new aliens, I guess I'm in the minority then?
They certainly looked a lot more realistic than Greedo for example in the OT.

 

why do all the new alien have huge heads? It's weird.

They even gave Nien Nunb a huge head.

 

I like the designs of some of the new ST species, like Atsy the Resistance Pilot. It's fine, since it makes the Galaxy seem bigger.

 

All new aliens, all new worlds, too. I like both, but mixing them up would be best.
