Totally, and we never saw the Tamarians again at all after Darmok.

Tamarian officer could be gold. But freakin' Boimer having a talking Tom Paris Voyager collectible plate is now officially what I'm looking forward to the most.

Prodigy trailer was interesting. Janeway command hologram, eh? If it tells you to go into the Badlands, don't do it, kids!

Is it weird that I read this in Quark’s voice?

The various 4th-tier-and-below alien species appearances are the real highlight of that LD S2 trailer. But the gags are great too.

Digging the Prometheus-meets-Trimaxion Drone Ship vibe of the Prodigy ship, though the nacelles look a bit too much like Kelvin nacelles.

Not really, because in all likelihood Quark is the one producing the Voyager crew themed-novelty dinner plates:p

You know it's occurred to me that with Lower Decks being a cartoon this could be a good way to finally bring in the TOS characters for a TOS-era re-appearance (maybe via time travel); I mean, sadly Kelley, Doohan and Nimoy are no longer around and Nichelle's dementia might precluded her from being a part of it as well, but it still leaves the remaining three cast members (and I suppose you could sub out Nimoy with Peck or Quinto, Kelley with Urban, Doohan with Pegg and Nichols with Saldana if you really felt the need to have the entire cast together, as bizarre as it might sound to listen to)

The benefit is that they'd be able to avoid any issues arising from Shatner interacting with Takei, because dialogue can be recorded separately.

"Oh! I love the part where my name rotates around..."

They've probably all been at Tanagra, with Jalad...:p

That's not a bad shout. They could get Chris Doohan to do Scotty, he's voiced him in Star Trek Online and played him on Star Trek Continues.

Be difficult mixing and matching TOS crews- Quinto sounding decades younger than Shatner or Takei at this point. Better to go all-Kelvin at that point, IMO, or keep it to single cameos.

Peck would probably be better, though- not only is he the same universe, but you could conceivably have some synergy with SNW if that show ends up giving us a new Kirk (who could then appear on LD with Peck).

Though I’m willing to break any rules of consistency across casts and continuities if they give us more Urban as Bones. Can you imagine him dealing with Mariner? [face_laugh]

@Mustafar_66 That's true; it's been so long since I played STO or watched Continues that I had forgotten he does a more then passable (IMO) imitation of his father in the role.

(I think he also played a background character who was supposed to be Kyle in Trek 09 and STID)

I did amid it would probably sound weird (Quinto and Peck both do a fairly decent job micking Nimoy, but IMO the only perfect recast was Urban).

You could always have it be a crossover were just Kirk, Chekov and Sulu get transported to the future or something (maybe while trying to send them back they accidently end up on the Kelvinprise, so you can have have the rest of the cast and be self-referential about the fact that they're voiced by different people).

The thing that would be golden is if they (as they did in the picture from the finale) drew the TOS characters and their era in the TAS style (and maybe then did the Kelvin timeline crew in some sort of crazy CGI or something just for lols).

I want to seem him interact with T'Ana[face_laugh]

While we're on the subject of Paris, I read a few days ago that scheduling conflicts prevented RDN from appearing on Picard (I'd imagine given my absence from this thread for a long while that chances are this was already discussed though, lol), which would have been nice (I'm actually of the opinion that it would be interesting to have Miral be part of the main cast, since there's a lot of different things you can do with a character who has strong ties to past characters but is themselves a blank slate; though at this point the La Sirena might be too crowed for more additions)

Until she showed up and beat the crap out of him, that is:p

So, this is really cool: a fan-made, expanded/recreated intro to Star Trek IV:

So, just stumbled across the official Star Trek podcast that launched last year called The Pod Directive. Hosted by Tawny Newsome (Mariner on Lower Decks) and Paul F. Thompkins. I've only listened to the first few episodes so far, but there are a really neat mixture of interviews and discussions in there- including, early on, Ben Stiller, Reza Aslan (in particular talking about Darmok), Stacy Abrams, Mike McMahan and Tig Notaro.

And though not as flawless as the TVH opening I linked to earlier, the same artist recreated the TVH prologue/recap that played before the movie overseas (since TSFS wasn't released in many countries):

He notes that he uses the original Genesis sequence since that's beyond his ability at present. The saucer explosion still needs some work, but he's apparently working on that technique and will be utilizing it to resume work on his Wolf 359 recreation project.

Those chunks of saucer were the only part that really jumped out at me and said CGI. That kind of destruction/explosion often stands out in a bad way, even among professionally released projects. I hope he figures it out, because the rest is very good.

Not theatrically- apparently, it went straight to video in some places in Europe and South America, and the prologue was kept in for the UK/AU home video releases.
