That Ki-Adi Mundi figure looks absolutely FANTASTIC. I can’t wait for them to officially release it! Hopefully more prequel-era Jedi — Shaak Ti, Luminara Unduli, Saesee Tiin, etc. — are to follow.

100% agreed! It’s criminal that we only have one Padmé figure in the Black Series line. For whatever reason, I feel like she keeps getting the shaft from Lucasfilm and I’d love to see them lean into the love for her a little more in their merchandising. I’d also totally buy a Bail Organa figure! Being that he’s been popping up more, maybe there’s hope that we’ll see him in 6” figure form soon enough, too!

 

TPM Queen Amidala would make for a good deluxe figure.

 

The elusiveness of Padme isn't Lucasfilm's fault. She's had a long, murky history of product failures that has made toy companies gun shy about making toys of her.

Hasbro has had a long history where they really burned themselves with their attempts to market Queen Amidala/Padme/female dolls/toys. They made a bunch of nice dolls of Queen Amidala when TPM came out. They didn't immediately seem to be big sellers and just got buried in the red w/ their over merchandising the film. And it was easy to cut them out of their product line to refocus their lines by AOTC. The 2 times Hasbro tried doing dolls they made huge miscalculations w/ how they sold them; result the sales stunk. The dolls in the Forces of Destiny line themselves were partly at fault for their failure. Girls (and female collectors) don't want dolls w/ molded clothing. The dolls were cute, if they'd all been fully clothed I think they would've sold better. Also they put the dolls out in August. Nobody buys toys in August for kids, they're getting them ready for school. So they sat on shelves and were clearanced off.

Then there was the Sideshow Snowbunny Padme fiasco which resulted in all toy companies being wary to make products of her. Mind you, we all wanted Snowbunny Padme, she was voted as a fan favorite; Sideshow's prototype was great, the end product looked horrible. It wasn't PADME that people complained about it was the lack of quality control over the figure that came out.

There are 2 bright points for Padme merchandise. Hasbro has made tons of Padme and Queen Amidala 3 3/4" figures and they all sold well. Gentle Giant has been probably the best overall for making statues and mini-busts of her. They currently have a statue and a mini-bust of her in their production line-up.

She's just a forgotten character. And no company has stepped up and decided to really work to create a market specifically for girls/female fans of the franchise. We get clothes, jewelry, purses, etc which are all fine, but there has never successfully been a toy line produced for girls for Star Wars. We need Mattel to get the doll license away from Hasbro. They built the Disney Princess toy empire from scratch in the 90's. They can do that for Star Wars dolls.

Yeah, it’s just a background character’s head on a Mandalorian figure. I didn’t even know the guy was “Fleet Commander”.

We’ll definitely get a Mando Moff Gideon. That’s a figure they have to make. It would fly off the pegs.
