    All this talk about pies. I actually brought home two small pumpkins the other day. I love all things pumpkin, but I hate preparing them, and no we don't have canned pumpkin around here.

    The Thanksgiving Day Celebration Originated From a Massacre. A white man was found dead, and the Pequot were blamed, so their village was burned. After the fire, those who remained were slaughtered.

    "The day after the massacre, William Bradford wrote that "from that day forth shall be a day of celebration and thanks giving for subduing the Pequots" and “For the next 100 years, every Thanksgiving Day ordained by a Governor was in honor of the bloody victory, thanking God that the battle had been won.”"

    You might remember the old giant weeklong summer event called "Taste of Chicago." You go out in the 100 degree July summer heat and buy a roll of tickets for $20 that will buy you 1 beer and a barbecue turkey leg. After that you go home and squat on a toilet for the next 12 to 72 hours, if you can get to the toilet in time.

    That's what I think of most when I think of turkey.
