How's everyone?

 

I'm honestly spending entirely too much time trying to guess what St. Nicholas Eve will be like tomorrow. I expect to see at least one set of Mikuláš and his trusty sidekicks, generic angel and Satan, who is the Devil, but there aren't any markets for them to wander around and frankly anybody tries to give me candy during a pandemic and I'm running across the street. So... what exactly will they be doing? This is a three pipe problem, much like whether we have epistemologically sound access to the real or why the chicken crossed the road.

 

These are perfectly straightforward virus spreading concerns.

 

And guess what? I even posted the I'm Batman song from the Lego Batman movie in the what song you're listening to? thread... lol

Ooooh that goat. I was thinking of real ones and was so confused.

 

Doing my best Dude impression today, besties. Been a chill off day thus far: took the family dog out for her morning walk, and did a little grocery shopping.

 

Is that eggnog or milk?

Or something else

 

A "Rum Russian"... the Kahlua I bought is a Gingerbread flavored version with rum in it; always use milk in these.

 

The miracle of the generous priest: probably apocryphal.

We used to celebrate this with our kids. We had a whole group of German/Austrian kids in town, and we had to draw straws to see who had to dress up as St. Nicholas. It's fun getting to read the children's personality flaws aloud to them.

2012 was the last time my son faced down St. Nick. He has his hands in the protective position as required to defend against the groin kick St. Nicholas delivers before handing out the stocking full of candy and fruit. Love German traditions so much.

 

Besties, just had a big scare. My dad was walking my dog while I was finishing up work, when a small dog ran at her to attack her. In the fray of trying to get the dog away from her, my dad lost control of Summer's leash. Summer ran off. Luckily she ran down the sidewalk back to my parents' house. Whew. Scary.

 

Smart Summer.

 

Agreed. Summer made a quick assessment of dad's handling of the situation and took off running. Definitely the right call.

 

Indeed, he kinda panicked he said. Good to know she knows to run back home.
