    That's a great example.

    Also: countless Mr. Bungle songs.

I replaced the hand claps with artillery fire. That'll show him.

Artillery fire is a fine replacement for hand claps. I simply do not understand how he is of the belief that dark or heavy music cannot also be joyful.

I mean, look at this circle pit...

Hi besties. Wrote this for the "Choosing Beggars" subreddit (my first post there). Figure I might as well cross-post.

What an ungrateful brat your daughter's 'friend' was. Good on your son for stepping up and taking the ticket the 'friend' didn't want.

Ugh, sounds so familiar! To this day if you go to a GA Hanson show for front row you have to camp. I had an ungrateful "friend" try to get backstage after a show once. Ugh, I was her ride home, I couldn't find her. I do not understand the viciousness that comes out in girls/women over musicians. Good on your daughter for not giving that other girl the ticket, she (as in the ungrateful crazy fan) sounds horrible.

This story makes me so happy that movie theaters have reserved seating and you don't have to get there early to get a good seat because you've already ensured it.

The "organized nerd"-circles in Sweden aren't really that big when it comes to people, there are a lot of overlapping between different groups. I like my job, but my colleagues are definitely not nerdy or understand nerdiness at all, which leads to interesting questions. Today I saw on fb that a friend had just started her new job as World Heritage coordinator for one of the Swedish world heritage sites and told my colleagues that there was a new coordinator at that site. Relevant since I'm working on a World Heritage Site. Then they asked how I knew this person and you realise that it's not the best thing to just say "Oh, we met at the largest comiccon in northern Scandinavia, she sews medieval clothes, and her husband just printed the hard parts for my latest Star Wars costume". I think I just mentioned the medieval stuff, since we are a museum the colleagues are more understading when it comes to that than SW costuming.

I don't know if my work mates would endorse something super nerdy like costuming, but they do at least like nerdy movies and such. And there's a fellow Disney parks nerd who gets my obsession with that, so that's nice. We are all creative people, though, so we're especially good with movie nerd stuff.

However, people at work are also stressing me out today because they aren't getting things done that absolutely have to be done by 10am on Monday. So if they don't get them done today (and some of them have already gone home), they have to make time to do them Monday morning... and now I'm really stressed.

Being project manager is hard. Because I manage the project, but I'm not in charge of the people and some of them in fact outrank me. Sooooo yeah.

"Climate change, overpopulation and resource depletion are going to unmake all our current conceptions of politics, and not in some distant dystopian future. It's a looming dystopian future. Vivec is never going to get his socialist revolution in the U.S. Not in 2020 and not ever. But we might as well shoot for it while we still can, because nothing is worse than the centrist status quo" is what I would have posted in the election thread if I were posting in that thread right now.

Friday’s are still a “Wednesday” for me during a work week, and today’s been an extremely mixed bag; on the plus side, the weather out here today is fantastic, really happy to be back into the groove of having the Dodgers back on TV here at home (switched carriers last week; 7-games in a row watched since... haven’t had a regular season stretch like this since ‘13! :p ), and the Tunes family chihuahua has recovered greatly from her recent in-grown toenail issue.

Negatively, our crew at Target was informed during a huddle today that major changes are coming once again to our store, just under a year after the last one (no longer overnight all-the-time); without boring everyone (further, I guess :p) with the exact details, this change seems to be change for the sake of it, rather than really improving the process of unloading, guest service, etc; hours will likely be wholly different (late-morning-to-mid shifts... ****). To be expected in this line-of-work, but still rather annoying. Don’t want to leave Target quite yet, but if this doesn’t work out, then I’ll find work elsewhere.

Maybe you can go back to Walmart :p

I kid. I know it's evil. And also, I'm sorry for you having to deal with change for change's sake.

Our head of graphic design is going to work on some of this stuff over the weekend because another person didn't get everything done. But that's because she's going through a hell of a time with her husband having cancer. I'm going after work to get her a gift card for a free massage. She needs some her time :(

besties a dude at the library just asked me if there was an app he could get where he could just set his phone on top of a book and it would read the book for him. i laughed of course, but apparently he was not joking.

A kindergarten or first grade kid once brought me a book that was on a fifth grade level or so.

Me: “Nice pick. Do you think you’ll be able to read that all by yourself?”

Kid: “No. I just want it to have.”

Hehhe. See I remember fondly in first grade when the librarian brought me to the chapter book section to find me something to read because I was bored. I wound up with Hardy Boys.

Then again in fourth grade when I was sick of kid books (I was reading Jurassic Park at home), I remember the librarian taking me to find Born Free because she thought it would be both challenging reading and kid appropriate.

Loved both books. And I love you librarians. And I loved working at a library. Hugs for libraries!

Man where were you when I was in kindergarten? They used to not let us check out any of the cool chapter books because of... something I guess... so I had to buy all my Goosebumps books like some kind of nutty coo-coo super king. And even then I still got in trouble with my first grade teacher for reading them in class.

Though if the operating theory was that they'd rot my brain I guess they were right because I went into mathematics like a yutz.

Jurassic Park was required reading for us in high school, probably the summer it came out. I read it, because I was a dork who read all the required books. I still remember having nightmares. I struggled with all subjects in school and never read above my grade level. There were often books we read in school that I liked though. I still enjoy reading, I'm just slow. Like I bet if I was reading the same book as most of you, I'd be on chapter one and everyone here would be finishing chapter 4. I had a roommate in college who could read big long books in a day. The good news is there were at least courses in college I could pass and I do have a degree.

I’m somewhat late, but I’ll be a night owl, or an early bird, whatever the situation dictates.

While that is perfectly true, I think I should worry it compounds my sociopathic tendencies. But I don’t.
