Only 20 pages for "Atrocities and genocides"? Seems a little light, tbh . . .

I'm really looking forward to this now that I've seen the breadth of it. Can't say it'll jump to the tippy top of my "to read" pile, but it's definitely a day one purchase

Will they be more like the Essential Guide to Warfare and Essential Atlas or just blurb books like the Encyclopedia of Starfighters And Other Vehicles?

I’m hoping we can get a little bit more clarity on the Grand Admirals. My recollection of Thrawn Treason is a little hazy, but I’m not sure if they ever established if there was 12 of them like in Legends.

There is also about 20 pages on discrimination, so that could, also cover it.

I'm glad the pendulum is finally swinging back on that. I was getting absolutely sick of the "what, the Empire discriminates?!" phase. It's clear the Disneyverse wanted to make an Empire that was more complex and I totally get why it would make sense that not everyone in the Empire was a racist/sexist/xenophobe, just like they're not all evil. But the fact that the majority of the organization still tends to lean toward a very specific demographic, and how the Empire seems pretty chill about eradicating entire non-human species, totally needs to be addressed at this point.

Helps if I actually read through the thread before asking questions. Looks like a text only book with little to no art. Kind of disappointing as there is quite a bit that could really use fleshing out that a format like the Essential Guides would have been great at.

Beaumont Kin is more professional than Vor’en. He cares not for pretty pictures.

I curious about the book but the problem is that whatever is written won't jive with what we see on screen. From the animation to the live action streaming series and the comic books, the Empire is shown a certain way and whatever gets written in words gets overriden. I'll buy the book to read it but I'm more excited about the DC vs Marvel Omnibus in August than I am with a star wars book

If you start talking about the military, tactics and warfare in Star Wars it would help to give some depth to the tools being used. This could have been a way to give more detail to things that have been very vague for years. I'm looking at you Qaz-class Star Destroyer!!!!

@jasonfry you really need to get the Qaz-class sorted. For the love of all Star Wars. [face_laugh]

And why stop there... a new series of books.. Sort of a combination of the Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels with the Owners Workshop Manuals.

    Warships of...
    --The Republic Fleet
    --The Separatist Fleet
    --The Imperial Fleet
    --The Rebel Fleet

This book arrived early today... "I am going in!"

Having not read excerpts pre-release, I am greatly enjoying this... it is written inuniverse from a pov months after the Battle of Exegol...

This made me jump in joy and wonder:
Beaumont Kin is part of a team excavating the Exegol Sith Temple...

please do not dig too deep... please do not dig too deep, who knows what or who you awaken...

First impressions: This reads like an essential guide and is really deep!

The Book is in english :p

PS: Beaumont is quite the thorough guy... this book got glorious footnotes, Beaumon sources his stuff to a variety of archives, interviews, etc. amongst them
    prisoner Mas Amedda
    !

And you'd be surprised whose private files NR Intelligence raided, studied and published lol! Those slicers must have been quite busy for decades before getting through it all.

We need an entire wook for all these new cited inuniverse files, archives and works.. this feels like the good old times.

Rather the opposite, were we as efficient as usual, we'd keep release dates :p usually foreign stuff arrives weeks late.. this rare exception is a blessing.

As an Australian (not Austrian haha), we get EVERYTHING (physical) late, so I feel the late arrivals.

Any fairly ancient Sith lore likely to feature...?

And early Jedi too, of course.

You are a mod... what if you are forced to read them?

Come on, Sinre, read me, you know you want to!

Let me read that book first!
I got kids, a life, and a huge to read list...

But from what I glimpsed yet:
The books topic is as its title says the rise and fall of the Empire and not ancient or future eras. So while we may get occasional callbacks or glimpses they are rare and vague I bet. I guess the fact that Exegol gets excavated is already enough teaser for future stories and the book may not cover anything found there. But it does in its footnotes and sourcing of intel quote quite some files, databanks and inuniverse works that the researchers have got access to and some of them come from Exegol, others from other worlds. Some characters private files even.

But I'd not go as far as to suspect them telling us of ancient Sith or such. If so, cool, but while the book is full of awesome hints, the factfocus is clearly on topic of the Saga and Imperial rise and fall.
