    Minor news at Dan's blog.

The Colicoid "Eradicator" has been changed to the Colicoid "Annihilator."

I thought Eradicator was the est. name form Ult Adversaries?

    Iron Knights--YES!

Unlock and bump. This comes out at the end of the month! :D

And Dan has a new blog about it:
I received an advance copy of The New Essential Guide to Droids today. This is the first time I'm seeing the whole package -- artwork and layout combined. And it's fantastic! The Artoo picture is so nice I wish someone would print it as a poster.

Here's a few random things that jumped out at me regarding the great illustrations by Ian Fullwood:

    - Nice Too-Onebee. Is that a new foot design?

    - Goose droid! Man, that thing looks exactly like what it actually is. (Meaning, the metallic skeleton of an animatronic goose.)

    - R8! And R9!

    - Vuffi Raa in his adult form!

    - The Tac-Spec Footman is wild.

    - The chameleon droid has some cool inset screens, one showing the droids cloaking and one showing them in the thick of a massive robot battle.

    - Just added to my dream list of action figures: the Colicoid Annihilator droid.

    - HK-47 looks like he's about to kick my butt. Turning the page now.

    - Cool X-ray effect on the Human Replica Droid. Flashbacks to the Visible Man.

    - I can't tell if it's intentional or not, but IG-88 holding a thermal detonator is almost Hamlet-esque. Alas, poor Yorick-Bot 3000!

    - L8-L9 has a bit of a Mysterio vibe going for him. (Note: I stole this bit from Del Rey art designer Erich Schoeneweiss.)

All this, and a photorealistic version of Mistress Mnemos! The New Essential Guide to Droids goes on sale June 27.

Ooooh. I want this. I want it bad. =P~

I totally forgot this was on the near horizon- especially with the NEG series typically hitting in the fall.

I will probably wait on this until I actually see it in a bookstore or in Forbidden Planet. I am not a big droids fan so it would have to be pretty good to justify the cost.

Do we get a look at some of the more obscure droids in the saga? A good chance to bring a few Marvel creations into the limelight, and expand upon some criminally overlooked droids. 4/NG, anyone?

"adult" Vuffi Ra??? I always thoughts droids stayed....the same. Anyone knows what the adult form looks like???

Human Replica Droids!! I'd forgotten my little link to the Cylons, even if they aren't really similar at all. :D

And it's nice to hear we have art this time, hopefully it'll be as good as what we've seen for the New Aliens book :D

I think the percentage of folks who will be disappointed will be in the decimal range.

I will probably pick this up, since I never got the original guide, and this does look pretty fantastic.

It looks like we've got some Star Tours and Classic Star Wars, so its very possible that Marvel will sneak in there (if not a main entry, then almost certainly some in-entry references.)

Its a long shot, but I'm hoping for some Droidworks references... [face_praying]

Maybe something about Kligson and/or "Droid World"? I'm trying to think of some other Marvel droids. Maybe Ellie from the Tay Vanis story will be referenced in there? I believe Dan did at least mention that storyline in the NEC.

There are several Marvel droids included as main entries! There's also at least one Droidworks reference (though not a main entry).

Great! Looks like something to look forward to (even if the field is a bit too narrow IMHO).

Some of the droids at Star Tours were actually just the animatronic skeletons from old Disney attractions. IIRC, the ones Dan's talking about are the G2-series:

    G2-4T

    G2-9T

    (Though I could be mistaken...)

I wonder what the Dark Trooper entry will be like. It better not be copied and pasted from the old one.

Sorry Dan... I just realized I also asked about Marvel references in this book over at your blog. Do you frequent any other message boards so I can ask the same question there, as well? :)

Will there be quotes accompanying each entry? They added a little personality to the NEGVV, and I wish they'd been used for the NEGC. Also, as a dedicated Wookieepedian, they're pretty useful. ;)

Mistress Mnemos--shes from the Vorzyd Gambit, right?

btw, where did this whole "Oh SNAP!" phraseology start.

I hope so, an entry one HK-47 would be useless without at least one quote containing a reference of some kind to the gruesome termination of organic life.
