Senate No Donuts For You: The U.S. Police Brutality Thread

Feels increasingly likely that the cops shot people other than the perpetrator.

 

It was a response to things posted here. Not hypothetical things people could've posted but didn't. I'm not asking questions of the person that wrote the article as, to the best of my knowledge, they don't post here.

 

Alright? That’s fine. But I’m not those other people anymore than they are the journalist that wrote that news article. I’ve only ever claimed to speak for myself. My personal view of the problem was their demeanor in the interaction, not the end result that someone drowned.

 

I don’t know where else to post this, but the moment cops do a good thing like arrest a bunch of idiot homophobic ass hats they get death threats.

70% of Americans may be okay with gay people now. But out of those 30% who aren’t I wouldn’t be shocked if most of them hate gay people with a passion.

 

Yep. Blue Lives Matter...unless White supremacist goons are involved.

 

Blue lives matter until they protect a minority or a protest I don’t like. Or stop an insurrection. Really Blue loves don’t matter to them. It’s only convient to them because usually cops are the ones being authoritarian and abusing power.

Particularly fun are the indications that the video evidence conflicts with the claims of the steps that the police tried to intervene early and couldn't

 

I mean, we knew the bodycam footage would be either showing gross negligence, or cops shooting kids, or both. That's just based on the response to the FOIA so far...

 

Oh yeah, it's just the identification of in which way the police are known to be lying currently. General incompetence isn't a surprise here.

 

The article paints the police response as having no coordinated chain of command or leadership.

 

What the hell are all those active shooter drills good for if they don’t review what to do if chain of command fails? Surely that should be something covered?

By mob they mean protestors that they don't like.

 

A Los Angeles police officer who died of neck injuries suffered during training had been beaten by fellow officers in an exercise meant to “simulate a mob,” according to a wrongful-death claim filed against the city by his mother.

 

Bodycam footage is now out in a police shooting in Ohio, where police killed an unarmed man that was fleeing from them. As he didn't have a gun, then there's very little that can justify the claim that he was an immediate threat to the lives of anyone to justify police opening fire.

Arizona to ban the recording of police officers within 8 feet of said officers.

Would not surprise me at all to see other red states follow this.

Guess we better dismantle CCTV around police stations. Unless they're not using them to "enforce the law" Thems the rules.

 

They went to cut off opposition by stating the bill doesn't outlaw recording officers, but that it is 'confusing' for officers if people get that close during an incident and surely with modern recording devices you can zoom in?

I suspect the real reason the law was passed was with the hopes of someone challenging this, have it get to the Supreme Court, and have the Court decide "The Originalist approach says that police officers should never be recorded under any circumstances except for footage for the TV show Cops. It's in the Constitution!"
