No More Stars

The point, PB is that not all the former 5 star posters have got where they are posting rubbish and/or exclusively in Community. They posted steadily, without going on a posting rampage in pursuit of a post count level.

 

Are people still crying about this?

 

I don't think anyone said that all heavy posters are unintelligent. A poster will be whatever they will be regardless of how many posts they make. At least we're seeing no more talk of stars = quality poster, which was a fallacy.

 

What No Blasters! said. Neither I nor anyone else said that those with high post counts are all idiots (mine must be getting up there). I'm saying that post count says nothing about a person, in either way. The one exception to that is if a poster has less than 10 or so posts then there's a chance he's an alias.

My only point is that you shouldn't take a person more or less seriously based on their post count. Read they're post first and then decide whether or not they're an idiot.

If I had more than 2 then I might care but since I did not....I dont care.

 

I loved the stars. I loved looking at my post count to see how long it would take to get to the next star. The joy is now gone.

I'm trying to decide if elminating the stars has decreased spamming or increased post quality. I'm thinking it hasn't.

Oh, well, I'm glad they're gone. At least now everyone's on equal footing.

Max, I think alot of members wanted to keep their stars, but they didn't post their choices, and I saw no visible tally in the threads, so must assume the "don't want stars" were louder than the "want-stars".

 

The minority are always the people who make themselves heard the most. Whether that's true here or not, I don't know.

 

CA, yes, I see your point. How can the minority "want stars" get there numbers tallied now? start a thread in community? the "don't want stars" will probably bombard it with negatives. is it too late?

I remember the earliest grumblings against stars. They were generally the same people who opposed the old ranking system. Here's how I think it breaks down:

Most people: Couldn't care less

Majority of those left: Opposed any sort of visible ranking system

Minority of those left: In favor of some sort of ranking system
