No More Stars

It does look drab without a dash of colours. Let me play around a bit.
Expect the board to change looks for a little bit

 

An addendum to the colored username suggestion (yes, I know, I'm getting way too excited about this):

There could be three different images, one for each kind of "special" user:

Moderators/Admins:.......Single Gold Star
VIPs:..........................Single Silver Star
FanForce City Reps:.......Single Bronze Star

That way, the system would be more INFORMATIVE than before, while also applying neccessary recognition.

 

I liked the stars, they were pretty. And it gave you an idea about who posters were, so you can always spot a newbie, or an experienced poster who is pulling your leg. But it is not the end of the world.

 

I don't like it without. It looked better with stars. We need some color around here. I also liked the fact that they told you how many posts you had and how many posts other people had. I remember the day I got my first star. I was so happy that I had color by my name.
Why can't we just have stars back? Show me spammers for stars. I personally haven't seen them. Sure there's the up the post count stuff, but I always thought those threads were more fun than malicious.
I dunno, I just liked them and the way my name looked with four pretty stars after it. I thought it looked good. Apparently again, few have spoiled it for the many.

 

Please tell me I'm not the only one seeing the colors. I could have sworn that was just an ordinary mushroom.

Instead of stars (which, by the way, I really liked - the sense of self-importance they gave can't be underestimated!) howzabout cash rewards? Everyone's happy with Cash.....

Why not have different coloured stars or just have our post count directly next to our user name or something?

Of course, I measure my prestige on this board according to how long I've been here. That's why the no stars doesn't really bother me.

 

I second JG's Cash Rewards program. A yearly check will suffice.

I also support Joe-schome users getting to change their username colors and the admin's getting some sort of special designation.

I also like the idea of letting everyone personalize their names and coming up w/ something different for the admins to identify themselves. Don't care about stars/post counts, but it would be nice to add *something* to the smilie-less, fontless, image-less snowboards.

 

Well, there is something to be said for post count and stars. While neither reflect the quality of the posts or the poster, they *do* reflect knowledge of the boards. Besides, the stars were sort of fun.

That being said, I think it was the right move to get rid of them. More harm than good comes from them, methinks.

 

Folks will be able to determine your experiance and knowledge now through the quality of your posts. Respect is now earned.

Anyways its just a tad bit plain looking IMO but as you said you are still playing around with different things Cleo and i respect that.
