A great set of games you have in here. I wish you well in breaking them down, Yane!

Ha... ha... ha... It hasn't even been 3 days since the first post. Wow.

 

When you're figuring out how to arrange the division, might I suggest first eliminating games of the same brand/franchise that are exceptionally close to each other? The one that immediately jumps out at me is Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II. They are essentially the same game. Yes, the mechanics changed a very tiny bit. Yes, they have completely separate songs. But there is no fundamental difference between them, and it seems silly for them to take up two slots, knocking out another game. On the other hand, two installments of Zelda have the potential to be wildly different (especially given chronological differences), so I wouldn't necessarily be in favor of collapsing whole series into one heading in every case.

In cases where it might make sense to leave just one game as a representative of several, I would encourage making a list of all such potential cases and putting up a list with a day or two to vote. Each user may pick one game from each cluster; the game from each cluster that gets the most votes is in.

Just a suggestion, of course.

Or just do Wild Cards like they do in that weird NFL game.

How many do you have? If its -close- to 128 it could be trimmed. If its kinda close to 256 just keep adding games till you get there.

 

We had 142 games nominated. I've discussed it with the games mods and other helpful mods and I believe we've successfully pruned it down to 128.

I'll be organizing how the voting brackets are going to go. Expect the actual tournament to be up sometime this weekend.

I have about 13 hour work days in a sense...I wake up at 5 am, do homework and get ready for school, school is from 8 to 2:35 and then work is 3 to 9:30. I get home around 9:45 to 10 and then I have about two hours online. Maybe three.

Again, if you count school + work, I probably have about 60-70 hours combined.

And then on the weekends, I am out as much as I can be to make up for my lack of free time during the week.

 

And you're a mod on top of all that? Wow.

 

I should be getting less hours soon though. Scaling back from 30 to 20 hrs...which will be great...

 

So what do I do next? I really want to win this contest.
