This is something I've been kicking about for a while. I'm not sure it counts as a retcon but it nice to finally have it out there. Thanks to CeiranHarmony for interesting me enough to dust it off.

In the Yuuzhan Vong galaxy there were three main species.

The Silentium, the Abominor and the Yuuzhan Vong. Although at the stage of the begining of the Silentium - Abimoinor war they weren't a powerful species I include them for their later significance.

Originally a state of "cold war" existed between the Silentium and the Abominor. Both races used sentient droid technology for exploration and defence. While the Silentium were explorers the Abominor made aggresive advancement into the galaxy. The Silentium eventually managed to create a system to allow themselves to traverse galaxies using wormhole technology.
The Abominor with their thirst for conquest wanted to obtain this technology and planned an attack on the Silentium. They picked the moment the first expedition went through to attack.
After testing the technology the with probes the Silentium were ready to send through the first colony ship.
As the ship passed into the wormhole the Abominor attacked and during the battle the wormhole generator was hit causing the Silentium's home star to go supernova and wiping out all life in the system.
Over a period of time the sentient explorer ships returned to the Silentium's home system seeing the destruction of their creators they started to rebuild in their own image and began to strike back at the Abominor.
The war took in all corners of the galaxy dragging numerous other species to the conflict. The Yuuzhan Vong were armed by Yuuzhan'tar which also dispatched a seed into the void just in case. However the YV were victorious and the remenants of the Silentium and Abominor races the sentient machines fled and began the long trek between galaxies.
Meanwhile the Yuuzhan Vong begin the purge of all mechanical life from their galaxy and eventually turn on each other.
In the hope of stopping the rampage Yuuzhan'tar removed them from the Force. In retaliation the Yuuzhan Vong leave the galaxy releasing a bio toxin that destroys all life in their home galaxy.

The original Silentium colony ship that made it to the GFFA came to rest in what would become the Corellian system where they used their ship to build Centrepoint Station. They used the station to create the Corellian as a home base for their colony. They also tried to create another colony near Kessel however this attempt went wrong creating the Maw.
They co-opted several species including Humans and the Rakata to be the "builders" of their civilisation while they were known as either the "Architects" or "Celestials" due to their star shaped physiology and technological know how some of which must have seemed godlike to the native inhabitance.
Once established the Celestial colony began to encroach upon several other species including the Sharu who were intimidated by the expansion of the Celestials and regressed in the hope they would seem to have little value and be left alone. They also encounted the Killiks and some fell foul of the hive mind and became Joiners. They also encounted the Gree and Kwa civilisations.
With their love of exploration however they were left quite exposed due to their limited number and the Rakata began to rise up against the Celestials also the Killiks were starting to expand thanks to their assimilated Celestial knowledge.
Seeing no way to prevail against overwelming numbers and realising their error of placing advanced technology in the hands of dangerous species they set about rectifying their mistakes.
Disabling Centerpoint they fled to the Vultar System where they created a new home system using the Cosmic Turbine.
The Celestials started to create a new race of sentient machines to help against the fight against the Killiks and the Rakata.
Using the first of a new breed of sentient machines they move the Killik race deep into the Unknown Regions believing that once placed their they can be dealt with later. Howev

This I particularly like. :D

Though I'm open to other suggestions, too... [face_thinking]

You were convincing enough that at first I thought I was reading a NEC summary, until I got to McEwok, and remembered it was NRM, formerly NRW. =D=

Thanks for taking the time to read it guys. :D

There are a couple of other ideas I had while I was doing the reading for this.

    1) In the old marvel comics there was a story involving the Iskalonians. Basically these were 17 different aquatic species that were transplanted from their homeworlds. This was around 5000 BBY because of a natural disaster by a benevolent species.
Maybe it wasn't a natural disaster but the arrival of the Abominor. Draining the moisture of the planets and requiring the future Iskalonians to be moved.

    2) The creators of the Silentium sentient machines were star shaped organics. They kind of made me think a little bit of the Gree. The Gree were a very old race they had tentacles so I guess the could be classed as star shaped. Maybe they were on off-shoot of the original race that arrived in the GFFA. On their Wookiepedia entry it says they were contemptuous of droids which were not part of Gree technology. Maybe because the founders of the Gree race remembered the destruction by the sentient machines in the Silentium-Abominor war.
Also while scanning the pages about aquatic lifeforms I came upon a race called the Iyra. These were intelligent cephalopods from the outer rim world of F'tral. They looked very much like an octopus (star shaped?) and were leaders in the design of gravity manipulation equipment.
Maybe the Celestials didn't leave but assimilated themselves into the GFFA.

They are the main two there is another about the possible relationship between the Kathol and the Yuuzhan Vong but it's not ready yet.

    Good stuff makes sense. =D=

It would be good to have some more Pre-Republic information hopefully some books or comics. But I like your ideas on the whole.
I might have some questions later when I've fully digested it.

OK so I read the alternate ending with the Celestials merging into the GFFA can't say I like that bit wouldn't they still have a technological advantage over everyone else?

If the Silentium colony ship is now Centerpoint why doesn't it have a star drive?

I personally prefer that they were assimilated into the GFFA. Maybe they did have a technological advantage but kept it to themselves, or maybe most of their best and brightest were killed during the wars and left behind a beaten race.

As for Centrepoint not having star drive well maybe it was taken apart to use for the repulsor.

 could probably have come up with those answers myself. Thanks anyway. The Silentium and The Abominor certainly opens up a lot of possibilities.

I'd read a lot of threads about the Silentium and the Abominor and Centrepoint just seemed to jump out and scream at me. It is a highly advanced piece of technology and could well originate in another galaxy.
