But it's nerfed the Envoy's Long Horn's Bubble Shower skill. :(

I made it to the first legacy dungeon in the DLC. The enemies are a nice challenge, but nothing is too difficult so far. Other than the Furnace Golems. **** those things.

    The new tree sentinels.

I started initial exploration of both castles, to get at least a couple sites of grace saved, stopping at the invader in each. Now trying out the dungeons I find so far and exploring the eastern ridge is next.

I hear it’s really important to keep checking in with the NPCs as often as possible, or else some quest lines might be prevented, and eventually you’ll need to choose between some. Haven’t seen that yet, just found the 2 small groups so far.

It's funny that a bunch of people playing the DLC don't remember how this game works.
I-- uh, beat them on the first try. :p I used the Mimic Tear Ashes to even the numbers. I also might be "overleveled."

Ironically, I later learned that I was like 10 or 15 levels under what was recommended for that encounter, which explained a lot.

Get Black Knife Tiche for her gaol as a a Spirit Ash asap, possibly even better than Mimic Tear, if you haven't already.

Also, I was on a winning strike like you for the big bosses after I overlevelled after losing to the first boss Margitt too many times... but just wait for Malenia. She lives up to the reputation. There's a few other good boss fights to come too, that took more than a few tries, but no way near Malenia, who heals whenever she attacks you. And she attacks you like a tornado of swords.

I loved some of the sidequests too, Ranni and Fia especially. And once I met the Dungeater, I just attacked him on sight, so he never made it out. A good mini boss fight that not many know they have the option to do.

The Dungeater is honestly kind of hilarious, because when you first meet him, he goes “I’m going to kill you and defile your corpse,” and then after you progress his quest line a bit, he goes “I like you, so I’m going to kill you and defile your corpse.”

Anyway I’ve been slowly making my way through the dlc, and I’m not finding it to be that much more difficult than the base game. The only major headache so far has been the Blackgoal Knight, which took me two and a half hours to beat.

I found the Dung Eater's cell in the Subterranean Shunning Grounds, I unlocked the cell door, and I stabbed him in the back with my Moonveil.

I’ve been working on Promised Consort Radahn for the last three days. He is incredibly tough. I almost had him once; got him down to about one or two more hits, but then he did that embrace thing and stole my heart. Haven’t had any similar luck since.

Oh well, guess I’ll try again during my next gaming session.

Shadow of the Erdtree, from what I gather (I beat Mohg but I haven't touched the hand yet):

Yes, I know Miquella is a creepy weirdo just like almost all of his siblings.

After he grabs you the first time, you can use Miquella’s great rune to undo the brainwashing.

Where I am in the DLC

    I've been saving on Mesmer.
But I did Gaius (very easy), ScaduTree Avatar (only after I then used a walkthrough to get all Scardutree fragments I could by this point), defeated the second secret Lion Dancer, got Scorpion Stew, made it though the Abyssal Woods and parried the Untouchables and made it to Midra but not yet beating Midra. Did most of the dungeons, using Gold Scarab to help level up tpp. Defeated half the Furance Golems, which are such a pain. Defeated Bayle the Dread (Igon was great, I just kind of wish I did the secret path with this Dragon Priestess but not this time), I did Romina of the Bud, and I did the Mother of Fingers plus finding Anna. Most NPC storylines (at least as far as I can so far), including meeting St. Trina and Thiolier's part.

My current mission is to finish the Furnace Golems, at least those, and hopefully finish the last of the Mausoleums with Rakshasa. I'm also avoiding make the Moore decision, maybe I'll keep putting it off. Then it will be Messmer time. I'm just glad I've done all NPC quests to this point, and very lucky I did them all the point I did before the seal broke (except helping the good Brood before breaking the seal, especially by the one where you get invaded by that guy for the second time before he gives you his ashes in that second room) and getting that secret cookbook. I'm also avoiding Leda's 2 fights until I beat Messmer with the Hornsent. I want Ansbach to be there to the end, one of the best NPCs.

The first cleanrot knight I fought, back in the one cave in the lake area I remember distinctly because I was out of potions, poisoned and had scarlet rot but I managed to killed the thing frames before the DoTs took me with it. I was so excited.

I usually play dex but I was having trouble with the Black Knife at the evergaol, so I took Godrick's axe, leveled it up all the way, equipped the strength talisman, and bashed her to death. It's also pretty effective on the cleanrot knights. :p

I generally didn’t find the cleanrot knights too much of a hassle, with the exception of the two in the Swamp of Aeonia that you have to deal with at the same time that Millicent invades you.

The theme for the Shaman Village is really lovely.
