Speculation OFFICIAL Episode VII/Spin-Off Casting Rumors and Speculation Thread

I was just thinking, if Episode VII is supposed to be coming in 2015, wouldn't that mean that casting would need to begin as soon as possible? I hopeful that at some point in 2013 we will start hearing about who some of the actors will be. No names are certain at this point, but many have been suggesting that Mark Hamill and Anthony Daniels could be likely. Time will tell.
On a side note, after hearing the big news yesterday, my older sons and I were telling my 9 year old that he needs to audition for the role of Darth Maul's grandson. He was all for it!

 

Ewan McGreggor has already said on twitter that's he'd love to reprise the role.

Correct, here's the exact tweet. I think he'd do a great force ghost of Obi-Wan, simply based on the fact he was in the PT as Obi-Wan.

Really hope we see Actors with charisma and presence.

If we see the likes of Fassbender, Hardy, Idris Elba, Chris Hemsworth, Renner, Emily Blunt, Scarlett Johansen etc we would be in for a treat.

Isn't Christian Bale a massive SW fan? There must be plenty out there. I imagine Disney/ Kathleen Kennedy are getting a lot of calls from various agents.

Who would be best to play Jaina Solo or Ben Skywalker?

 

Micheal Fassbender. Not that I want him, he's just in every big movie lately, and I almost guarantee he will find a way into this one.
He's the Matt Damon of this decade (by which I mean he's going to be ubiquitous).

For females, Uma Thurman still got her great looks even in her 40s, and she was beyond impressive in the Kill Bill series.
She'd make a great Jedi or Sith, whatever the case may be.

 

An EU casting thread actually being relevant again?

Never thought I'd see the day.

 

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Benedict Cumberbatch.

 

Maybe things will be different with Disney, but in the past there have been very few well know actors in Star Wars movies. Alec Guinness and Peter Cushing in the original trilogy, Samuel L. Jackson, Liam Neeson and Christopher Lee for the prequels, but beyond these, most of the actors were in the early years of their careers and Star Wars was their first huge break. I'm hoping that they will bring on another legendary veteran actor like Guinness, Lee or Cushing though.

 

Fassbender would have made a killer young Anakin had they gone with an older character/ actor for the prequels. He even resembles a younger Sebastian Shaw. Daniel Craig could have been Kenobi! Anyway, that's irrelevant now. I guess it depends what the roles available are. I have a feeling we may see some hires (at least a director and writer) fairly soon. If they are aiming for 2015 they need to get a wriggle on.

 

I think many people would go rampage if they recast the big 3.

How is the Great Sith War and KOTOR2 cast?

 

I'd be in favor of it.

 

I think Liam Nesson should return. What role? No idea. I think I've heard that Ewan McGregor is alright with coming back as Obi-Wan Force ghost

 

Whoever does casting (if they do the big three or any other characters from the OT) they should look at the thread that was on Del Rey's site for casting the Thrawn Trilogy
